Really had to fit all the things I like doing into a year let alone a week, but we are blessed with excellent food and chefs in this area so I am in retirement paradise.

  1. Like you I have been toying with the idea of Dab in the Roomy, but after looking at the work involved decided to wait until more head units become available. At present I would suggest that you try a Ariel pre-amp with the existing ariel and a splitter so you can still use analogue. http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/DAB_car_aerials.html Best of luck. JD
  2. Hi Broomster. Remap... I had to buy myself another car, so I now have a Panda 1.2 in the garage. The reason is I walk most places and I only need a vehicle for carrying bits and bobs whilst herself is terrorizing France in the Roomy. The reason why I mention this is that on the Fiat forum they have a insurance bod who gave a detailed account of the cost of modifying, by remap or bolt on's. May I say "I don't believe it" Tell you mate I wonder if I'm allowed to put an air freshener in the cabin let alone tampering with the go faster bits. Talk about the nanny state. I was going to stick a twin exhaust and other road approved mods on the Roomy, just to upset the boy races when left for dust. That is now history, its cheaper to buy an Aston Martin. lol.... Be careful old son, big brother is watching. JD
  3. Our Scout arrived as ordered. We did not want the glass top and if you opted for the climate AC it will keep the cabin at the correct temp. However, this dealer needs to have things done to his private parts. So reject the car and tell him to try and order the correct one, better still sue the bugger. Stick to your guns and drive what you have ordered, because that glass roof really does make a difference in our case and yours, we would not have accepted the vehicle if it had turned up with a glass roof. Stick to yer guns.
  4. What a load of youngsters. LOL The 1.6 TDI Scout has now become one of those French Roomsters. It was now has been used as the utility vehicle it was designed to be. Loaded to the brim and herself pointing out that she is managing 800 miles a tank, herself is French. Apart from the little annoyances that I have mentioned on these threads this is one hell of a car and if you think your 1.9 is quick, the 1.6 diesel goes like stink hitting the speed limit on the French Motor way just a tad out of 3rd gear. When run in took it from Scotland to Norfolk via the Boarders/Dales and it was amazing. Heard moans about the ride comfort and the seats, a load of rubbish. The seats (4 passengers) are comfortable, grip you well for those corners which it sails round. The acceleration is something that puzzles me, go and drive the 1.6TDI and you will see what I mean. (Remembering this is an open forum) The Parisian who is now racing around her homeland in this vehicle will no doubt have had it to the max and I cannot wait to find out what speed she clocked on the sat nav. A utility vehicle that is a great drive. Regards JD
  5. A little trick with Vaseline. Lightly smear around the air pipe connection edges (especially the air sensor in/out pipes) and filter to ensure a real good air tight seal. JDW
  6. As I said "Best of luck" Ask your wife if this garage has full a full dianostics facility for the management system of your vehicle. If not all they will do is change bits blindly. You can tell if any of the base mechanics are faulty, these tests have not changed since me dad's time, but if its part of the management system that is faulty then its a trial and error fix if you have not got the correct testing kit. JDW
  7. Hi Peter I have just looked at a dash of a 2008 Scout, its totally different the digits really stand out. So what I have is a dash that has been designed for DRL and some dipstick has removed the DRL facility. Oh well glad to get to the bottom of this, let the better half deal with it from now. God help Skoda. JDW
  8. The fault in the management system. some where a sensor is not behaving. just a small air leak caused me Cosworth to stop. the wise advice is get it shipped to a mechanic who knows what he's doing, one you trust. The AA will help your there. Who said the old days were bad, it seems these modern engines are an Arther Daley's delight. Best of luck. JDW
  9. Its not 3 points on said jobsworths license but ours. JDW
  10. Peter. Wont see 6O again. LOL was going to buy a Royal Enfield GT but me mum got worried about me and two wheels so I got a 105E (Anglia) but did naughties to it with out her knowing. The Cosworth used to move. Talking of petrol price,s in those days always remember getting a gallon of National 101 for a few bob. The funny thing is that those old dashboards used to work, remember oiling the cable to stop the pointer from doing a jig. As for drum's I remember the first jag with discs and the little warning badge on the back, bikers clocked that as they flattened their face on the boot. The Cobras that upset a certain Chief Constable on the M1. Those where the day's. JDW
  11. The menu has been changed on the Roomster from the handbook. http://www.facebook....100001234490515 JDW
  12. My better half is French and travels to Paris and Burgundy or should I say commutes on a regular basis. She also translates specifications from the VAG group into French. The trip and speedometer are separate from the Maxi dot. Trust me there is no reason other than cost cutting for this change. I would have thought that being able to change the the speed indication to the country you are in is a far better than having two differing speed indications. Personally I use Tomtom set to Kmph, never use the vehicles speed indicators as they are up to -10% inaccurate full scale. 4MPH out at a true 70MPH. However the New Roomster has other issues with the dash board because of this change (tampering), which may not be relevant to the Yeti. Sorry to go on but the total BS from Skoda UK has really peeved me. JDW
  13. I would expect laws to make driving easier and safer, not harder and more dangerous. Concur totally. Except this is not law but a cost cutting exercise that has back fired on Skoda UK. JDW
  14. It really would have been, hopefully there may be a way of getting that part of the menu back, will put it on the Roomster topics if it is at all possible. JDW
