  1. I get exactly the same PhoneLink disconnection on my Xperia Z3. Do anything which changes the screen, open a door, unclip a seatbelt, go into reverse, open any other app, or press the Home button, and PhoneLink disconnects. It won't reconnect either. If I retry the connection it fails. But exiting PhoneLink then going via Home/Menu/PhoneLink it normally connects again.
  2. I found the same with desnav. Very, very slow to respond. That's part of the reason I didn't waste any more time trying to get the trial activation to work. I've located the GPS antenna on the underside of the dash, next to the upper storage box, using double-sided tape. The signal seems ok there, but I think the antenna gets better signal facing upwards so couldn't use the sticky pad on the underside of the antenna. Hopefully the tape will hold. I have one USB cable routed to the jumbo box. I did that years ago, when I first got the car and replaced the head unit with a system which had rear USB. It requires removing quite a lot of trim to do this. The other one isn't used at the moment.
  3. Ok, I give up. It doesn't like the first photo.
  4. Only the second photo uploaded, I'll try the first one again...
  5. Here's a couple of photos I took this evening. The first one is of the USB music player, with one of the albums where album art gets displayed. I haven't worked out yet why some display and some don't. The second is with PhoneLink running, displaying the phone's camera, taking a photo of the camera taking a photo of the camera taking a photo...
  6. I can get desnav to run, but not to activate the trial maps. I've tried twice now, and both times it's told me that the trial period has expired. It takes more than 20 minutes to boot the first time its started, presumably uncompressing maps. But the activation fails. Where did you get a copy of iGo for windows CE? I can't locate anything. Not that there's really any problem with the installed sat. nav. It would be better with 7 digit post codes, and the correct time zone. But other than that it's ok. How is your radio? I find that on FM the scan function doesn't ever store located stations. It just skips from station to station in a never ending cycle. I can tune manually, and store them, so it's not too bad. If I enable AF (to auto tune) it sets the scanning cycle going again all the time. And on MW the freq. step of 10kHz is wrong for the UK, I think it should be 9kHz, so you can never get exactly the right frequencies.
  7. Have you actually tried installing and running desnav? How well did it work on the DS-820?
  8. Doesn't this message board understand paragraphs, and line breaks? Where did all my formatting go?
  9. I finally got around to buying one of these Chinese units last week. I ordered a DS-820 from Icebox on the 2nd. March. It took a couple of weeks to arrive (on the 17th), presumably they had to order from China. I fitted the unit yesterday, at least what I am able to fit at the moment. I'm still waiting for the antenna connection widget to arrive to connect an aftermarket aerial (DIN plug) to the dual fakra socket on the unit, so I can't test the radio reception yet. The HU I had previously was a Kenwood DAB/BT single DIN, and I installed a DAB roof aerial, partly because the reception with the original roof/rear window was getting bad, I suspect the amp. had stopped working. I'll need to figure out some means of getting power to the aerial amp., from the Diversity power if that's possible. Initial impressions are pretty good. The sound quality is perfectly acceptable, I'd say it was at least as good as the Kenwood but it's impossible to actually compare them. The sat. nav. works OK, but as others have said it's only 4 digit post codes, and I seem to have the same problem as motivator with the GPS clock being fixed on GMT+8, so I'll get in touch with Ice Box and see if I can get the same update. The BT unit is ok, it makes calls, uploads my phone book from my phone and streams BT audio without any problems so far. The Phone Link also seems to work. The dual USB cables are marked as "USB" and "Phone Link" but the link works on either cable. It installs an Android app. called Drive Mode which it wants to run when Phone Link is started. This includes by default a phone app, some music player (very basic) and Navigation with the only option being Google Maps. There are 3 unused app. slots available, so I've setup 2 using PowerAmp and CoPilot. They run, but I've not had chance to test them fully yet, or to see how stable the Phone Link is in actual use. It will be interesting to see how the phone battery lasts. The MFSW controls work. The MFD now has an "Audio" option. Selecting this displays the name of the playing track and incoming call number. The rocker button on the right stalk controls track next/previous and the bottom button cycles input source. But there doesn't seem to be any way to get out of the Audio mode and back to MFD, other than turning off the ignition. There are some niggles. The USB media player plays tracks in alphabetical order, so I've had to rename every track on the SD card with the track number to get them to play correctly. The iPod mode doesn't work at all, just sits there with the message "iPod loading...", maybe it only works with modern iPods and my classic is too old. Not too much of a problem, since the unit works ok with USB media (after sorting out the track order) the iPod isn't really needed any more. The screen is shiny, and suffers from reflections. I suffered a crash/lock up of the sat. nav. application. When I tried to change the voice to UK TTS it froze and I couldn't get it to work again. I ended up pulling the quadlock connector to reset the device. I don't know if there's any reset button on it.
