Yea Immelmann, it is the pre-reg. Drove the exact same spec as a courtesy car when my Yeti as in for a service (before it got written off) a couple of years ago and remembered that it had less turbo lag than the 105 TSI on the Yeti, good engines! It should be great!

Just ordered mine this morning and told it would be available end of month, got it from a Grimsby dealer (so may be no UK transport problems...) Mine is black - what is this limited to silver thing about?

100% sure it was a Cat D. They changed the advert recently - I was in the market for a new Yeti and saw this last week - I thought it was over priced for a Cat D.

Thanks for the feedback. I went to see one (well 3...). They are not bad cars, but doesn't feel as spacious as the Yeti, it was quite short - similar height as the Splash / Agila... I would seriously consider it, but the headroom in the sunroof model (the one I want) is really too low in the back - the height is close to the Mercedes CLA I looked at months ago - and I cannot live with a suposedly practical car with so little head room. If it is of the lesser model then I don't really have any particular interest as that would be closer to the 1.2 S model price. PS the SZ4 model has some really hideous wheels (grey - not silver, wheels).

Hi All, Since the Yeti has been written off, I have been actively looking for a replacement (currently have stop gap Mazda 5 - but keep more longer if I couldn't find anything I like...) I have had a look at the Yeti, whilst I am happy to stay with the 1.2 engine, I am keen to get higher spec (SE or Elegance). The discount from brokers don't seem to be too promising (1.2 S would cost £14.5k). I stumbled on the Suzuki SX4 S Cross, the price for the top spec 1.6 petrol model is just below £16k after discount, pricing the Yeti (1.2) to the same spec would be £3k more after discount (and I want a sunroof). I know the S Cross is boring looking (shameless copy of the Qashqai), but it has had good reviews re. economy (aparently would do 55 mpg on the run...), although they did mention the ride is not amazing, but it sounds like it may have Yeti's darty handling. Has anyone had a look at these? Are they any good? Thanks!

Hi All, Just an update. Took it into Mr Clutch this morning, clutch biting point is OK, however judder is likely to be the springs in the clutch, which really bothers me and I suspect they disintegrating, so getting the whole thing done.

OK, thanks. Is it clutch or could it be something else? Does juddering mean worn clutch or something else?

Also, would be much apprecaited if someone could let me know a good clutch / gearbox place in Northampton...otherwise I thought about going to the 60s looking chain in Milton Keynes...

Evening All, Just bought a 1 owner Mazda 5 (2006, done 60k miles) last week as "hopefully" a stop / gap car until I get back into a Yeti... Shortly after I bought it, I notice the car judders in first gear when slowly releasing the clutch with little throttle. This is driving me crazy, but it goes away when give it a little bit more throttle - such as one would do when driving out of a junction. So the main problem is very slow stop / start traffic. I was stuck on the A5 today for about an hour, doing stop / start due to road closure and it has gotten progressively worse, to the point where I abandon going to London, knowing it might not make it through the London traffic... I am hoping someone could help me identify what it is, it will be going into a garage tomorrow to have it checked over. It's a 1.8 petrol... Other symptoms are: When clutch pedal is pressed and realeased, it makies a squeaking noise (linkage?) Clutch / car judders when releasing at low rev in first When holding clutch, it is better - less judder When release with some throttle - normal set off, it is fine I can't hear any particularly strange noise from the engine compartment, the engine sounds the same with clutch pressed or released This evening, when I drove back, the engine note changed, especially noticeable at 3,000 rpm (could only notice at slow speed). There were 2 instances where changing from 1st to 2nd seemed to been "grinded" in, even when clutch is fully depressed. When the clutch is released at idle in first, the car just glide along like normal. When releasing in 1st then depress clutch again after short throttle, the engine seems to judder. Grateful for your help - other than that, the car drives much much better than I expect from a 7 seater... Thanks in advance!

Hi All, Wondering if you could help. Since my Yeti has been written off :-( I am looking for a new car for interim before I decide what I actually want to buy. One of the cars on my shopping list is 1.6 FSI Auto. I gather this engine is a chain cam (tick box - check), I have read that it must be fed 98 RON, otherwise it would be sick and need to be taken in? Is this correct - anything else I should be aware of. The particular example I am looking at is an Auto - from the photo, it looks like it has the same gear lever as older DSG gearbox - are they DSG or Torque Converter jobbie - if the latter, apart from poorer fuel economy, anything else I should be aware of? Would this be covered by the paintwork guarantee or is it only for corrosions?

First of all, I hated Vauxhalls - I thought they were all under engineered, especially in the engine department (premature cambelt snap, chain jumping tooth etc) Following my the recent mishap with the Yeti and the run-away Honda Civic Type R on the M6, I was taking the train to work, but turned out to be so expensive, I had to have spaghetti hoops for dinner...every night. Imagine my surprise when I found out I could hire a car for cheaper than the price of taking the train, off me go immediately. Bearing in mind my hatred towards Vauxhalls, I deliberately booked a Chevrolet Aveo (yes GM group etc etc) to avoid a Vauxhall. Rocked up the rental forecourt hoping I would see an array of Vauxhall blob, I was disappointed (but nor surprised) to find that they have offered me a Vauxhall Corsa instead... I am familiar with the style, the over styled front end and ridiculously short rear over hang, there are thousands of the on the road! I have to say, the driving position is the most simple I have come across. No rack / reach adjustment on the steering wheel, no tilt on the driver's seat, the only adjustments I could make is the back rest height and the leg travel. Not the most comfortable driving positions I have come across and how on earth did they get away with scraping the bare necessities, I don't know ... To be honest, at that stage, I was just glad to be getting behind the wheel again. Started the engine, is it a diesel? No, it's a 4 cylinder Petrol that sounds like a Diesel. This combination is magical, whilst other car manufacturers are trying to make a Diesel engine as refine and as "Petrol" like as possible, Vauxhall has to be different - why I don't know. Put the car into first gear, this is really knotchy, no different to the Mk2 Mondeo I had! Well never mind, it's a car. This is where the bad things end! Driving down Albert Embankment, I begin to appreciate this little car (well not so little...), the engine, though sounding very diesel like, is responsive for a 1.2. The other 2 cars with 1.2 I have driven are the Yeti and the Fabia (3 cylinder). It is best to compare with the Fabia's 1.2, whilst the Fabia's have great low down toque and interesting note, the Diesel sounding Vauxhall 1.2 has adequate torque (but not enough to give a nice clean pull from the traffic light), venture above 3,000 rpm the engine really comes alive. I am very pleasantly surprise by this engine, but this is not the best thing about this car... The ride is so composed I thought I was driving a Golf Mk5, there is really very little to separate them, this is really really very very good. It also felt very solid. It rides very nicely on smooth road and over rough roads, it still manage to judder very little. I could not believe how good the ride is. The tyre roar and motorway noises are also very well surpressed, definitely not Golf level, it is much better than the Grande Punto (which has the same gene) I have driven previously. I have now done 250 miles in the car, over M, A, B and city roads and I have to say I am very impressed by this car. I never thought I would say this about a Vauxhall but this really is a great little car!

Yup - coupes. Strangely, I have thought about a Freelander 1 previously which is a "hardtop" convertible. Ah, the Aventador is not 4 seater though...

I have done a bit of research on this, but would be useful if someone could enlighten me. Is there a 4 seater hard top convertible with 4 wheel drive (or quattro)? No one seem to have done this yet - why not? hard top convertibles are built because of the useability all year round, why not all in 4wd?

Thanks all. I have just been to to the A&E following 111's advice. Good news is that my brother and I may have only stretched our neck muscle slightly and should be OK very soon. I have emailed photo of the tyre mark left by the other car and have submitted FOI for HA. Have recieved reply from the Police and HA very quickly - let's see what happens. I will be engaging my MP as one of the poster above advised to see anything we could do. Thanks all for the support. I was entering the inside lane of M6 (half way through) when the Civic appeared to be sideways on my lane from M42 junction. It crossed those hatch / chevron things and ended up sideways (3/4s way) in front of me. I have had no time to hit the brake, only thing I could have and did was steered away. There are some tire markings that are not mine, which must have been the Civic swerving back into the hardshoulder. It seems very common on that stretch, whilst I was waiting for recovery and traffic officer, I saw a old brown Transit doing exactly that, going through the Chevron at the last minute to rejoin the M6.

I feel particularly angry that the offender didn't even stop to I am just thankful we are in the Yeti - it held up very very well, considering the last time I looked at the speedo, I was doing 65 70 mph. I believe contact have been made, I can clearly see the other car's tire mark on the road, swerving back into the hard shoulder to avoid me. I basically spun round in front of him and he had to avoid me. I understand it will be a claim, but my passenger and I could have been seriously hurt, that car did not stop. It just carried on. It came through the motorway hatch - dangerous driving caused accident. It was a Red Honda Civic Type R with Black Wheels - spaceship type. I seem to remember it being 08 reg.

When I rung the police, it was 15:07, so must have been about 2-4 minute before.

Morning All, I was involved in accident on the M6 just after junction 4a yesterday in my Skoda Yeti. I was travelling south bound towards the M1, a Red Honda Civic Type R with Black Wheels was appeared out of no where, drove through the motorway hatch (this car was going towards M42 and I was going towards M1), it didn't even slow down. At this time, I was already half way into the slow lane on the M6. I swerve to avoid it (hence I didn't see the registration, it was literally right in front of me - there is no way I could have seen it from the angle). I believe there must have been some contact with it. I spun, hit the barrier, side airbags came out. Needless to day, that person did not stop, it continued down the motorway. I noticed 2 sets of tire marks. mine and the other car's, but what must also be the other car's swerving back into the hard shoulder (I have taken a photo). I have been to West Midlands Police to obtain a self reporting form, but since I don't have the registration number of the other car involved, I don't know how far the investigation would be taken. I am appealing to anyone from this forum who saw / witnessed the accident. The last thing I remember was there was a Sliver Mondeo (Mk4) next to me, which have witnessed the incident. It was a busy motorway junction, so cards travelling towards M1 and M42 should also have seen the accident. Appreciate your help. Many Thanks.
