  1. Thanks guys, I was sure that it wouldn't just be a 'bolt on' modification and there would be other differences between the two engine specs I just didn't know what they were. Was only looking for 270(ish) BHP as the end goal - how much do hybrid k03s turbos tend to cost? does the car need any other new parts for a hybrid turbo to be fitted?
  2. Hi all. Recently I have been wondering about the best ways to take a fairly standard Octavia with just a remap and simple breathing mods to the next level of tune. I'm guessing most people would upgrade to the k04 turbo but I am unsure as to what the other differences are between the 1.8t 180 bhp AUQ engine and the TT / S3 / Cupra R 225 bhp models, if any? Would be very appreciated if anyone could let me know what else is different between the two engine specs other than the turbo Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Yeh thats just what the light looks like. Anyone have an idea what it is?
  4. This did cross my mind, but is it purely a huge coincidence that the exhaust started blowing this badly when the engine management light came on? I've had no real problems with the car in 8000 miles, so for both to happen and not be related seems a bit of a strange idea to me.
  5. Thanks for the replies everyone. It isn't either of those two pictures that you've posted, i've tried and failed to find a picture of the particular light, the best way I can describe it is a yellow light that looks similar to a tap. Other than the blowing exhaust and whistling noise coming from it, the car runs as it always has done, doesn't really use noticably more fuel and hasn't lost any power. I'm leaning towards thinking that it is either the downpipe connection or the cat, because something sounds rattly, but this warning light is worrying me because I havn't got a clue what it is.
  6. Is it often a faulty light or sensor on these cars though? I only ask because the oil level is fine, the car has never actually used any oil really. Only problem I noticed is the exhaust.. no weird noises from the engine or loss of power.
  7. Hi guys, yesterday while driving in my mk1 Octavia VRS I noticed that through a journey of around 25 miles, the exhaust had begin to blow very slightly by the end of it. The exhaust I have on the car is a whole blueflame system - downpipe and sports cat with a cat-back following it. Anyway I didn't think much of it, just a normal small blow I thought, so was planning to get it booked in to the garage the next day. But within the last 2 or 3 miles of the journey, an engine management light came on - its orange and the best way I can describe it is that it looks like a tap. Don't have an owners manual at the moment so unsure where to check. Does anyone have any ideas what it is? havn't looked under the car yet but it sounds like its coming from near the downpipe / manifold end of the exhaust system. If it helps, in neutral if the engine is revved, you can hear a 'whistling' among other noises as the revs come down. Thanks a lot for any help - as I have no clue if I should be using the car still or not, so atm it is as good as out of action as I don't want to cause damage to anything else without knowing.

  9. Started driving when I was 18 but was on my moms insurance because I couldn't afford my own car so just used her car when she wasnt using it. Got a job though after leaving college which helped pay for things like stupidly overpriced insurance quotes, and my own car.
  10. Although it might be annoying that your insurance has increased from £300 to £350, I think you should feel lucky your not under the age of 25 or so. I'm paying over £3000 a year on my VRS, 20 with no no claims :(.
  11. Thanks for all the advice guys.. I got my sub and amp fitted yesterday, and very happy with the new sound quality sounds amazing. Thanks everyone would probably feel confident doing it myself now next time.
  12. Where is the grommet when you look under the scuttle trays though? can't seem to see it anywhere. Thanks for the helpful post though mate
  13. Hi guys, just looking for some advice really. I've heard the glovebox needs to come off completely to make it easier and all sorts of other things like this regarding stripping the interior. As I am probably the least practical person I know, I was just wondering really if people on here who may have done it before recommend paying someone to do it professionally? I really don't want to be the one pulling interior bits off my car, as easy as it may be for most people to do properly. I was also wondering what wiring people would recommend, as I am going to get that sorted soon. Thanks in advance for any help
  14. I think you'll find every single car you just named is around the same speed, roughly. The ST and 330 are definitely not noticably faster than a CTR, ITR, or Corsa VXR, if they are faster at all. I'd have to say that a well driven ITR / CTR would probably have the edge on all the other cars there, if anything. PS - How is a 330 and an ST in a different league to a Type R? Power to weight ratio is almost identical on all these cars..
  15. What other mods are needed to be ready for stage 2? FMIC and the likes? i've got the breathing side of things sorted I think - with a CAI and downpipe / sports cat and a cat back system.
