  1. Hi, Had my Scout TDi now for three months, racking up 3500 miles (here are a mix of my observations). Trip counter 2, covering average of the entire 3500 miles reads 42.8 mpg. This figure is slowly rising as the car loosens up, first tank averaged 36mpg. Normal run to work, 10 miles average mix of roads averaging 39 to 40 mpg. (If I drive carefully it goes up to 48mpg). Motorway runs produce around 45mpg driving at 70 -80(ish)mph, but by being careful and sticking to the limits, I can easily achive 50mpg. It can become an obsession to watch the live mpg figure and adjust accordingly, and interestingly the use of sixth gear is not always a better choice than fifth. I'm inclined to believe the trip readings as I always fill the tank to the brim and the figures do agree with the computer.
  2. Hi, Short of going off road, is there an easy way to test/confirm that the 4x4 is functional? I know its a strange question given our current weather, but would like to check all is operational.
  3. Hi, If you follow this link, and search for Scout, you'll find a useful video review. http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Drive
  4. Hi Simon, Will try to answer some of your questions from my perspective. I've had a new Scout for 5 weeks now, the 2.0 PD variant (you may wish to do a thread search on the new CR engine that is being fitted to all Scouts shortly) and to be fair I'm delighted with the car. I've never owned a Skoda before and it was quite a wrench to move to a lesser known brand, but I'm now glad I did. My Scout is in Anthracite and after 1200 miles is steadily improving its economy as the engine runs in, but has still achieved 42.2 overall to date. I only have a requirement for light off road use and up to now had always gone for a full blown 4x4, the Scout still allows the off road bit but drives like a car and the handling difference is startling. In terms of extras, the two that really do it for me are the Xenons and GSMIII with MFSW. I wouldn't have believed how much better the light coverage is with these headlights and the handsfree phone kit combined with the MFSW is excellent. The hill hold function you mention is standard on UK cars I believe and to be honest does nothing for me, in fact I find it a bit of a nuisance.

  9. Thanks Simbo, Couldn't get it to work as described and finally worked out I need to use the button on the steering wheel. Is there any detail I can refer to that explains exactly what each setting is for? (the drivers handbook doesn't appear to)
  10. Hi, Picked up Scout today, first impressions positive. Spent a couple of happy hours configuring the bluetooth :S , so reasonably happy with the interface, but can't seem to access other settings. Can anyone point me in the direction of an online listing or menu of settings that can/can't be changed, Thanks.
  11. If you use the link listed by Pedd in an earlier post, and do a search for Scout. You'll find an equally good review for the new model Octavia Scout. http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Drive
