  1. I will need to check service history when I get home along with the oil. Believe it was 10-30 fully synthetic (whatever the skoda manual said was right for the service intervals). I reckon it needs a top up every month and half/2 months. Having a vRS before I would say it wanted oil every 3 months or so, so this didn't seem too much of an issue. It was more the drinking fuel. It was getting 4 weeks to £60, now it has halved that! Currently on 97k. Only driven 5k since owning. it has had a few hissy fits about turning over, almost like it didn't have enough charge, but it would turn over in the morning but not the afternoon, so the logic is lost on that one. Took it for a drive yesterday and didn't notice the smoke, but it was quite warm. May take it out tonight and see if I can spot in the coldness of the air. When it went in first time to skoda for the work, it sounded like a miss-fire was happening (I originally thought coil packs) and the day it went back it had a metal rattle.
  2. It doesn't smell from what my nose can pick up. The smoke is pure white. No hints of blue.
  3. Fair comment, but if there was an oil leak inside the engine (which they diagnosed it to be at the time) couldn't a lack in oil cause the head to distort, which in turn would cause a head gasket failure? That is based on the idea that this is a head failure, it could be something else.
  4. Need to update the signature. I now have an 11 plate MK2 FL 2.0TFSI. Breakdown attached.
  5. Hi all, Last year I bought an octy from Skoda (now Subaru) Salisbury. It had loads of warranty issues with it and ended up going to Skoda head office to get dealt with. It turned out to be the timing chain and oil seal replacement. Car had been running fine! Until recently. It has been drinking oil, drinking fuel and pumping out white plums of smoke from the exhaust. Water seems fine and heating seems fine, but all signs point to a head gasket failure? I have called Skoda and said what is going on and I have a 2 year workmanship warranty on the previous work. Providing the previous work is linked to the latest issue, it will all be covered. What I wanted to ask the community is, would you define warranty work on an oil seal/timing chain, connected to a head gasket failure? I have asked Skoda to send me the full breakdown on what was fixed and changed, once I have it I will share.
  6. Ok, so they have said they are not going to replace the engine, not even reimburse me for lost money at work or cost of having to insure another car. Even though Turners weren't logging their warranty repairs. So quite upset at skoda now. Any advice.
  7. Ok, so westover have gone through it and said there are quite a lot of parts that need to be changed, but they don't equate to enough to change the engine. So currently I am talking to Skoda Uk to try and get them to look into doing a full engine replace as I don't think a few fixes are just. I can't remember everything that was said, but they said there was cam shaft damage and oil vales that had gone.
  8. Ok, so westover are saying there is defiance damage to the cams and they're still investigating it further as the fault codes gave back a ten page job list. They said it may just be a head replacement, I don't want that. Am I within my rights to push for a new engine?
  9. I've looked on the email I sent and before I bought the car I asked if the tensioners were ok and in the email they said their technician said it was fine.
  10. Looking over all of the threads and comparing the details, it would appear that the worst case is the engine is going/gone. So, where do I stand? If they have to replace the engine, do they replace the turbo? as a 0 miles engine vs a 90k turbo doesn't seem like a match made in heaven and since the only job of the turbo is to work with the engine, in my eyes these have to be matched. Unlike the gearbox which is affected by clutches, harsh use, hitting curbs e.t.c the turbo is directly connected and only works with the engine. Loss of earnings. Today, chasing Skoda has cost me a day of work, waiting for their service team to make answers, which I have had to chase them for. Can I claim to Skoda UK for loss of earnings? Since it was Turners who had sent it back to me twice now and said it was fixed, which by the seems of it has lead to this issue. West over want £90 diagnostic fees, can I fire that back to turners to pay? As the trading standards says, after 2 repairs with still a problem on the car, I am well within my right to have a refund or a full repair. So, in my eyes, once again, it is within my rights to ask for them to pay for it. MODS: When I mention garages, it is not to portrait them in a good or bad light, it is merely to keep a written log of the circumstances, which can be used for fact finding knowledge.
  11. So, it's at westover now. Waiting for a replacement car. Will keep this thread updated as I get news.
  12. Ok, so I e called Turners, they were pretty wish washy about the whole thing, just said don't drive it. After waiting an hour I was told to call skoda Road side assistance. Currently waiting on them to arrive to look/collect the car. I was looking over the warranty booklet and it says car hire is provided upto 6 days, but not for the first 8 hours? How does that work?
  13. It's the skoda warranty, the last customer bought the sumer summer warranty for the car directly from skoda and it has 18months? Left. It was the deciding factor to buying the car. Trying to find someone now. My obd2 won't read it which is annoying.
  14. Hi all I bought my mk2 fl 11plate from Turners of Erlestoke in sailsbury. Since I have had it it has had to go back on multiple occasions for an engine management light that flickers on and off for around 5 seconds during the starting process. First time was spark plug, second was coil pack and adjusting injectors. Had it back for a few weeks now and all seemed fine until the engine management light turned on and stuck for a day. Called them and they were quite rude because apparently I used and abused the rental car last time for borrowing it a week extra, even though they called me 5 to 5 on a Friday, telling me it's ready for a sat delivery pickup... I can't get up during the week.. Anyway, I digress... Just on the way home now and I could hear a weird noise, thought it was the car next to me. Worked out it was me, eml started flashing then popped off. The noise sounds like a rattly bearing, almost like a release bearing that's going and can be heard when revving. If you rev, it will come back down slowly, pause at 2k, rattle, then drop down. Oil level is low and the car seems to be getting through it. Luckily, I have the skoda warranty on it, but I don't know what to do, it sounds f'cked to me? Also, Turners will do it for free, but I have to drive 1.30hours to get there, where as westover are around the corner, but want an £80 diagnostic fee. Can they actually charge that on a car still in warranty? Sorry if it's jumble, just a little lost.
  15. Hi all, Right light has gone. What are the best replacement bulbs to go for? I have seen LED and HID bulbs from halfords. Any good? Or is there something better to look at?
  16. Decat - Is it worth it? No, not unless you have a friendly MOT guy. Otherwise get a sportscat.
  17. It is for my Mk 2 FL. Really need to get that updated! Out of interest, can you go to any Skoda dealer under warranty and get the car scanned?
  18. I had/have the Mk1 and the SAI is what popped it to my head when it came to why the EML clicked on.
  19. Hi all, Had the car for a week now and I have had a very sporadic issue. Every other morning on the same part of my journey (time length) the EML will start flashing for 5 seconds then kick off and not stay. At the moment I don't have any friends who can scan it to find out what is going on so it is only guess work till I can get it back to the dealership. Because it happens on the same part of my journey, I can only deduct that it has to be part of the start up sequence. Is there any part of the start up sequence which can go pear? When its cold she runs a little lumpy, but this does not co-inside with the EML. Otherwise running has felt fine, heat from the heaters fine, petrol is drinking a bit quicker than expected but I think that is because I have been driving it more and they put **** petrol in it and I have put V-power in. When I bought the car, the RPM needle light was dead and they replaced it. On Thursday the speedo died (they're going to replace) I can't see this causing that issue. What is every ones thoughts? Would like some pre-knowledge before I go up there.
  20. Cheers for the help on the above, cleared a few concerns. Picked it up yesterday and I love it. Struggling with the flat paddle accelerator over the hanging pedals. But il get use to it. Quick question - bolero head unit, says phone on it, but all it does is mute sound. Mentions in the menus about Bluetooth audio but can't get it connected. What am I doing wrong?
  21. The downside then would be if it doesn't sell then a month later it returns as standard for cheaper. Would it put you off?
  22. Hi all, the time has come to sell my beloved vRS. It has served me well for the past 5 years, but my job and what my job will require, will want me to have a more "professional look". Also price wise I have been able to buy a newer mk 2 FL for a very decent price (couldn't leave the vRS alone!). So now the conundrum starts. Does one keep it as it is, or do I reset it back to standard? Over the years I have collected a lot of expensive items, which I know I will never see the value back from, but the parts could easily be stripped off and sold off. As it standards: Black Magic, 180k on the clock. Factory: sunroof, computer, anthracite interior, aircon. Extras: Allard FMIC, CAI, TT front wishbones, TT Subframe, TT hubs, TT FARB, TT quick rack, All vac lines deleted and SAI removed, poly dog bone, poly wishbones (spare), Decat, miltek exhaust, Pioneer headunit with reverse camera, uprated speakers, including sub, boost gauge, dynamatted doors and boot, colour coded plastics and front grille, painted wheels, tinted windows (rear 70%), RTech Remap, white line ARB, Coilovers, SFS wide TIP, Single mass Sach cluth. Now I was looking for £2k, is that asking the earth? Also, does the above put people off? or am I better stripping the easily removed parts, taking less and selling the car and parts separately? I don't need a quick sale, but will it sell?
  23. Thank you for that. It looks the same for the front. With the scoring, think that's an issue? The back disc has a notable groove which you can rub with your finger and the front has a 2mm thick line around the whole disc, can't rub it off.
  24. Sweet, il get them, to get them ordered! Any resolve on the other items? Am I worrying about the brakes?
