  1. Looks nicer than expected. Just need some.decent wheels to set it off.
  2. For the first time I can recall I managed to chirp my tyres twice at the weekend. It is possible, but it was a loose surface! Other thing to remember is the brakes on a 170. Had someone pull out in front of me on dual carriageway yesterday at speed. Really had to step on centre pedal and it was amazingly reassuring. 170 is the best engine for a Yeti IMHO. Just as economical as my previous 140, but with noticeably more go.
  3. Please, no more pictures! I feel a bit sick looking at it!
  4. Having had both a 140 and 170 Yeti, I can confirm that the 170 is noticeably quicker, smoother whilst just as economical. I'd take a 170 every time given a choice. Makes playing with TTs much more fun!
  5. I have had the roof on both my Yetis. First option to be ticked. Wasn't a fan of light interiors coming from a Golf GTI with no sun roof and dark headlining, but wouldn't go back now. In winter with blind shut it can still feel 'cosy' and I normally have it shut after dark. Great in summer for cooling the car quickly. Drop windows and slide roof back and its a refreshing change from being stuck in an air conditioned box! Tilt function used with blind across when parked at work. Had a couple of creaks with first one but resolved by lubricating runners. No problems with current one. Now into 4th year of Yeti ownership and still think its an amazing all rounder.
  6. I'm sure you will find the Yeti an amazing package. Its a great car, facelift or not. We all have opinions on aesthetics, which is what this discussion is about.
  7. Absolutely agree with the above. The incoherence in the new front end and original side elements makes for a very uncomfortable overall design. Heavy handed use of straight lines and angles. Whilst I understand the need to introduce the new design language, the efforts at integration have been less than successful in my opinion. Sadly.
  8. I saw a FL Elegance at SMC Exeter, as has been mentioned previously. It was parked in the rear compound, with a Fabia between it and an original Yeti. Sadly I found it disappointing. There is such an incoherence of the now very angular and agressive front end and the rounded and smooth sides.Front is also busier than the original (which I found too busy anyway !). It looks just as it is, a new front end with a different design philosophy grafted onto a previous one from the A post back. An unhappy marriage and sad. Looks like after two originals the next will have to be a MK 2.
  9. I had an SE with Dolomites and now have an Elegance with Spitzbergs. Dolomites are definitely easier to clean, and on balance I think look better, being plainer and less fussy. Chunky like the car. To be fair the time taken to clean the wheels is far less important to me than how it makes the car look. Have you considered the Erebus option? Can you have those on an SE+? Don't put 16s on. Looks under wheeled(?)
  10. I have noticed on my 2013 Yeti that there are no longer drain holes for the panoramic sunroof at the rear under the top of the boot. My 2010 Yeti had small black rubber grommets, with a flap. I have read that these drains were potentially the cause of blockages leading to damp carpets. Just wanted check that I wasn't missing something I should have !
  11. Well I have to say that I am normally in agreement with 900000's aesthetic judgement, but when it comes to roof bars, I have to disagree. I think on a Yeti silver bars with black ends works, especially on darker colours. My first Yeti was silver, so all black bars worked. Car was a relatively simple composition of black and silver. Current Yeti is Regency Green, and I think needs a lighter colour to lift the side elevation. The black/silver/black motif has a precedent. A section through the bumpers has black sides with a silver central section. You could argue the wheels show a similar relationship, with black at each side and a silver centre section. All very subjective I know, but may help a decision to be made.
  12. The colour is actually called Regency Green, also known as Malachite Green in other markets.
  13. I previously owned a 140 SE and have now got a 170 Elegance. The difference in power is noticeable, and due to this, requires less gear changing. If you drive enthusiastically, then the bigger brakes stopping power is welcomed. As regards the spec level, its personal choice. I didn't want leather or xenons originally, so went for an SE. I now would be without the lights and leather. I have only done 2500 miles in the 170, so can't really comment yet on mpg. 140 used to get about 42 average. 170 currently gives about 38-42. Also road tax, and insurance are cheaper for 170. All depends on budget and priorities
  14. Well, just to prove that they do exist, I saw one today in Newton Abbot, Devon. 62 plate, with the Elegance badge on boot. Rare! Probably first I've seen.
  15. Small car park in Totnes, Devon on Saturday saw a 13 plate musco TSI Eleg, a silver 140 SE and my Regency 170, all in about 50m of each other. When we came back about an hour later we had been joined by another musco TSI. Car park must have a Yeti magnet !!
