hi all, got a mk1 vrs estate 3 weeks ago and although noticed the rust on the tailgate, but i accepted this!! ( allowing me some money to get it sorted obviously!) after ordering a touch up pen, thought i'd pop into skoda dealer in worcester (startins at powick) to ask their opinon, first of all they said it looked like the glass had been replaced and fitted too low , which i didnt accept as it has genuine purchase sticker on it and all skoda etchings and marks! then they looked and said they would take pics to forward to skoda uk , but warned me they would do a paint thickness test! so after getting home had little think and realised they still have an electronic paint checker at work, so got hold of it and checked the paint and was relieved to find the whole car was .0055"-006" about 135 microns if i remember right so we will see what they say to wriggle out of it?? will keep you updated just like to say what a great informative forum this is!! :p cheers craig

hi to be fair picked mine up last weekeend and to say they were dirty was an understatement!! don't think they had been cleaned since new!! bought 2 cans of car plan upholstery cleaner from homebase, was about 4.49 a can! used 11/2 and did all carpets and seat inserts and is a different car (smells better now as well) so will def use it again, secret is to use loads of clean water and keep changing it as you go along, i used a microfibre towel after agitating the foam with the brush on the lid! hope this helps? loads cheaper than a full valet :yes:
