Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
I have a 21-plate Mk4. It worked.

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
I remembered, eventually! As mentioned above, the setting was toggled back in April and, sure enough, when the clocks changed at the end of October the clock in the car corrected itself automatically. So, to summarise, for those with access to OBD11 who want the car's clock to update automatically on the European dates: Navigate to the following long coding with OBD11: > Controller 5F (Multimedia) > Adaption > Summertime-automatic > None / Manual / Europe / USA / Automatic Set to "Europe" Save and exit Go to the time and date settings in your infotainment unit Switch on the change to summertime automatically setting **Any changes to your car's coding are at your own risk!**

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
🤷♂️ Doesn't seem to have been much point in your responding on this occasion then, although it's nice to hear from you anyway. Hopefully, the info will be of use to someone who can access OBD11 or VCDS.

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
The clock had not changed itself automatically on Sunday morning after I made the above adaption change the week before, so I went to change it manually. However, when I got to the appropriate screen in the settings I discovered that where before there had been an on/off toggle switch for "DST", this had been replaced by a selector to "change to summertime automatically" (or words to that effect). I hadn't bothered checking the settings screen at the time I made the coding change since it wasn't time yet time for the clock to be changed. Anyhow, I selected for it to change automatically, which I expect it will now do when we switch back from lovely BST to 'orrible GMT in October. I'll let you know what happens then, if I remember. Given my results, it seems likely that the above None / Manual / Europe / USA / Automatic coding changes the DST switch in the infotainment settings between fully off (with no option to turn on) , manual on/off toggle, optional automatic with European date rules, and optional automatic with US date rules. Not sure what the final "Automatic" option would be. Logically, looking at the other options, it would be "fully on" (i.e. an automatic change with no option to turn off). Presumably in that case it would default to European date rules, or perhaps use the GPS signal?

Retrofit Kessy?
Sounds like quite a bit of work. What sort of price do you charge for that?

Retrofit Kessy?
Yes, pushbutton ignition but you have to use the fob to lock and unlock the doors and boot. I can see various settings for Kessy on the central electrics controller (09), so I guess at least some of the software needed is there, but I can well imagine the function might need some extra hardware or wiring or a different type of transponder in the key or some such. For some none-critical stuff I'd risk temporarily changing a few adaptations/codings to see what happens, but the ability to lock/unlock the car really isn't one of the systems I'd want to risk taking a "suck it and see" approach on!

Retrofit Kessy?
Is it possible for KESSY to be installed with a SWaP/FEC code or does it require additional hardware?

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
Absolutely. Wise words indeed, and people would do well to heed them. The first thing I've always done with any of my cars is a full back up the clean factory setup before I change anything. I've used Ross Tech's offering until now, but they're still not able to handle the SFD protection (although I believe they're working on it). This particular car is my first time out with the ODB11 and, as with the VCDS, I've only made changes via the long coding and adaptations so they are fully logged and reversible. As goods as ODB11 does seem to be, I wouldn't touch its one-click "apps" with a bargepole. They don't record the changes they make, so God only knows what they do. I'm sure many or most work just fine, but doubtless some won't and you'll only find that out when it's too late.

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
I just found this adaption while rummaging around the bits and bytes with an OBDeleven: > Controller 5F (Multimedia) > Adaption > Summertime-automatic > None / Manual / Europe / USA / Automatic Mine was set to manual. I've changed it to Europe and will wait to see what happens at the end of the month.

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
I've tried this one a couple of times now, it just isn't working for me. I turn the high-beam assist on, but its off again the next time I start the car. I bought and installed the assistant as a SWaP via the MySkoda app; maybe when it's done that way rather than from new by the factory there is a second setting somewhere else that also needs to be modified?

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
Yeah, I have the button to switch DST back and forth manually; It's more that I would have expected for there to NOT be a button and for the car to just do it. Perhaps it will just change itself at the end of the month and I will be pleasantly surprised - but if that's the case, why bother putting the button there in the first place?

Automatic change between standard and summer time ("daylight saving time")
In my previous Octavia, which was a Mk3 with an MIB1 Admundsen unit, you could set the clock to change automatically although it may be I had to code that in with VCDS originally (I don't remember now; it was a long time ago). My current car (Mk4 (2021), MIB3 Columbus) can only be switched manually. Not really a problem, but it bugs me to have to now go into the settings and change it manually when it was more advanced than that 10 years ago! Is there some long coding or adaption that can be made to the current cars so that the clock just switches itself automatically to the correct time every March and October?

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
I can confirm the above worked on mine, plus the long coding/adaption noted elsewhere for the audible chirp when the car is locked/unlocked. Thanks to @petopzdiag for posting these here. That said, although I do now have the fuel replenish volume display available in the dash, it is just showing "-- L" rather than a value, but I suspect I may need to refuel the car before that starts to work (?). If it still doesn't read after my next refuel, I will edit this post to note that. The speed warning chimes automatically at 120 km/h, which is fine, but on my Mk3 with Admundsen it was possible also to set the speed at which it was triggered. Is there a separate coding needed to be able to set the speed warning to your own preferred value, or is that just not possible on the Mk4 with Columbus? That would seem an odd backward step.

OBD2 port (rhd)
I did not know that! That's useful for future reference, thank you.
-
OBD2 port (rhd)
Thank god for that. From experience, getting behind the glovebox is pain in the arse.
-
OBD2 port (rhd)
Where is the obd2 port on rhd Mk 4 Octavias? Have I got to remove the glove box? If that's anything like getting to the fuses in the Mk3, that's a right faff (took me forever to get the damn locking arm reconnected).

USB-C ports in front centre console - switched or pemanent live?
Are the two USB-C ports in the front centre console wired as a switched or a permanent live? I have a phone charging cradle that I want to connect to one of those ports. The cradle has wireless charging built in, so it is always going to draw some power whenever it's connected to a live supply. If the port is permanently live, I don't want to leave a load connected to the car's battery (even a small load like this) when the ignition is off but, likewise, if it's a switched live, I don't want to keep connecting and disconnecting the cable needlessly because eventually that is going to knacker one of the connectors in the cable, the port, or both.

Octavia iV reversing camera retrofit service!
Does the retrofit get logged to the vehicle's build data, or is there a risk an OTA update to the software might mess up all your hard work?

"High-function" rear lights
That's interesting, thanks. It seems the animated indicator at least will definitely need different hardware then. I wonder if the red tail light section can still be switched on though, even if the indicators remain standard? If not, that's one very expensive piece of decorative red plastic if it ever needs to be replaced!

"High-function" rear lights
This may have been answered elsewhere already, in which case apologies, but I couldn't find the answer despite reading though a bunch of other topics. I have had a 21-plate SE Technology for about a week now, all very nice. Of course, because of the trim level, it has the "low-function" rear lights that only illuminate the sections on the car's wings, not the "high-function" ones that also illuminate the sections across the boot lid. Has anyone determined yet if activating the high-function lights is just a coding issue, or if there is actually some physical hardware/wiring difference that would make it impossible? I have access to VCDS, so once RossTech have sorted out the SFD issue I might be tempted to switch the higher spec rear lights on if it is just software rather than hardware. Does anyone actually know what the long coding for that would be?

Lost: marbles
That's rings a (very small) bell. Where's that site?

Lost: marbles
There's a Skoda website where you can pay a small amount for a limted amount of time to access and download various documents for your car. I think I downloaded some workshop manuals from there a couple of yeas ago. Help me out here: what is that website? Damned if I can remember or find it now, but I have another car on the way and I want to check a few things.
