  1. I have Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres (factory originals) that need replacing. Any thoughts on alternatives as I find the Continentals too noisy (no doubt due in part to the low profile 225/40 X R18). Any thoughts?
  2. I have a V6 4WD Combi. The 18" tyres fitted are Continental Contact 2 and although they are good handling tyres, the wear rate is truly astonishing - I have done 20,000km and they need replacing. They are also very noisy so I am looking at Yokohama next time - they have a similarly rated tyre that is much quieter than the Contis.
  3. Just checked, the steel space saver in the V6 4WD is 125/70 X 18 - so the rim is almost half the width, the rim is obviously not the same diameter as the alloy (as evidenced by the higher profile tyre - 70 versus 40) but the final diameter size is the same. It looks pretty terrible and embarrassing when you have to use one though, as I recently discovered !!!
  4. I have a V6 4WD wagon here in South Australia. The vehicle is delivered with 4 alloy 225/40 X R18 wheel/tyre combo plus an 18" steel space saver rated to 80 km/hr max. It is unlikely that the wheel bay would hold an 18" full size wheel/tyre plus jack etc but I would guess that it would cope with a 16" or 17" full size wheel/tyre. I do have the false floor option which may intrude also on tyre space.
  5. Hi, does anyone know if a third row of seats is possible in an Estate? I have the false floor option. I can't see any anchorage points for seats or seat belts, so the vehicle may not be designed for this as an after-market option. There seems to be enough room though for one or two small people. Thoughts or experience are welcome
  6. Hi, my V6 Combi was fitted with Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres (18 inch wheels). I have travelled 16,000km and the tyres are almost due for replacement. Here in Australia, a lot of our roads are coarse chip bitumen so there is a fair bit of road noise. Although the factory fitted tyres have performed well, I think that they are too noisy and not very long wearing. Any suggestions for a better solution would be welcome.
  7. I have the V6 4WD wagon and have wondered about the status of the engine Try this link for further info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VR6_engine
  8. How do you do a re-set? Is is a simple matter of checking each tyre's pressure? The tyre dude put the right pressure in the replacement tyre but the alert light and message still comes on.
  9. I have a black V6 wagon with panoramic sunroof, ivory leather. People told me that I would be crazy to have the sunroof in our hot climate in South Australia. The reality is otherwise - the glass is athermic and the motorised screen combine to make the car relatively cool - certainly a lot cooler than my other car, a black Citroen C5 without sunroof - unbearably hot after being in the sun for a while in summer. Go for the sunroof!!
  10. My V6 wagon's Columbus occasionally re-starts at random. Has anyone else experienced this? An after-market Kufatec Fiscon bluetooth phone system is installed (has been since new)but I don't think that is the problem as the re-start issue has only recently happened.
  11. In no way is it an old man's car, especially when you let the V6 rip at the lights against some nob in the next lane that must think that the twin double pipes must be fake (not that I make a habit of this - just occasionally) !!
  12. You will absolutely love the BEAST!! I've had mine since August 2010. Black V6 wagon with panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate etc. Fantastic. Turns heads here - most people reckon its looks better than a Passat and some have confused it for a BMW. There would be less than 200 Superbs in Oz at this stage. The Octavia is by far the biggest seller.
  13. My V6 Combi is absolutely tight and rigid over all kinds of crappy roads here in Australia. LIke a couple of others in this thread, I agree that the Superb is very rigid and strong. By far the best car that I've owned, including the Lexus IS250 that the Skoda replaced. The Lexus is a great, and beautifully made car, but its chassis is no match for the Superb. The Lexus had plenty of creaks and groans on any road that was not as smooth as glass. Don't listen to the rumours about body flex in the Skoda
  14. I have a Combi V6 - very happy indeed. Apart from tuning differences (I assume) between the R36 and the V6 Skoda, suspension diffs (R36 sports suspension, softer on the Superb unless sports kit ordered), what are the other major differences and similarities? I read on this forum the other day that the Superb V6 has the same larger brakes found on the R36. The DSG box is presumably the same. What else? Just curious
  15. I bought a Combi V6 4X4 in Black Magic with panoramic sunroof and a few other extras for my wife. Fuel economy OK overall - average 26 mpg combined urban/highway cycle. Performance fantastic. Only regret is that I don't get to drive it very often!!!
