I have a 07 Octy estate with MP3 Stream CD/radio - am I being thick here as I can't see an Aux In socket anywhere, although according to the manual there are three different Aux In settings on the radio menu.

Engine under-tray full of screenwash

Thanks - I'm assuming it's just a push fit - none of those nasty wire circlips that ping off -
Engine under-tray full of screenwash

Ooh yeah - I never thought about removing the headlamp - it's dead easy to remove as I did the beam adjustment back in the summer. Thanks, I'll see if that gives me any room, but the reservoir seems a long way down! -
Hi I've lost the screenwash to rear window on my Octy Estate - on closer inspection it's squirting out into the engine bay down behind the o/s headlight, so assume the pipe has come off at the reservoir end . I can't see how to get a hand down there to feel about - will the front wheel or engine under-tray have to come off for access? On the plus side I have a friendly Skoda independent garage about 30 seconds away, but suspect he's not open until Thurday at the earliest.

Whereabouts in the Forest did you take the pics? Didn't seem to be that much snow here in Southampton and it turned to rain last night.

Hi Are any of the supermarkets doing special offers on 507.00 at the mo?

I have an intermittent scraping noise from the front wheel, definitely something catching a brake disc although for a while today it sounded like a tin can being kicked along. It cost me an hours labour at the garage today, thought they'd eventually cracked it by tightening the hub nut but it's back again. I can hear it usually at low speed ( 0-20mph) and sometimes around 30-40mph and despite me being adamant that it was front o/s wheel, now I'm not so sure. These are new discs and pads (2000 miles ago) - applying brakes doesn't have any effect, nor does cornering. There's no pull to left or right. Looking on the internet, I'm starting to think it must be a stone or something behind the disc, seems a common problem with some cars - does this include the Octavia? Is it straightforward to access behind the disks myself or would they need to be removed to check. I park on a fairly narrow road and removing the wheels is a bit of a pain.

Thanks for speedy reply - seems to have done the trick, just the problem of unpacking all the camping gear and putting it away :S We covered 1500 miles in France, car drove like a dream even when packed to bursting - diesel at 90p a litre. Even better when we discovered the air conditioned glove compartment!

Just returned from holiday with a bootfull of luggage, but can't open the rear tailgate. I can hear the motor trying to move the latch, but it sounds stuck. I do find that it needs a good firm slam to close properly and thoughf maybe a bit of extra weight holding down the hatch would free it up. but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions before I take to the Skoda man round the corner? Cheers

I just had a go at removing mine as i'm off to France next week and was looking at adjusting the beam. Simple enough to remove, just don't drop the unit! Devil of a job to get back in exactly the correct position though. Took several attempts and each time it looked sort of OK until compared with the other one. Not sure what I was doing wrong but it's fine now.

Variable Servicing / Oil Change
johnnyhamster replied to johnnyhamster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Probably the best option if National don't fit VAG filter. Is it an easy to access filter and any special tools needed for filter/drain plug removal? -
Hi Posted this on Honest John backroom yesterday, so apologies to those who may have already seen it :-) I bought a 07 plate 1.9 diesel Octavia last month and a mighty fine car too. Trouble is I can't get my head round a two year service interval ( I always did a six month intermediate oil change on my last car) and since we only cover 10K a year, so might be better changing to fixed annual service. Last service was April 09, next one due April 11 - we have a long trip to S of France this August. Q: Would it be wise to do a National Tyres Castrol Edge oil change now (£31.50 and 507.00 spec) or would it void my Approved Used Skoda warranty? Or is it really fine to run two years on the same oil. I'm sure I'd be looking at £100-ish for a main dealer oil change.
