  1. I have Nokia E5 and it works very well with my Superb Ambition -11. There should not be any issues with Nokia E5 and your 09 Superb Elegance because rSAP is supported in almost every Nokia phone.
  2. Yes, I tried that reload the address book. It did not work the way I wanted. Now I did delete the user (my phone on the list) and connected again and it worked well. I guess that this disconnect was not enough for the car's phonebook. The other thing I did, I destroyed the back up phone-book from my phone memory card and also all contacts from SIM card. I do not know if those had any affect on this. However now it works and over 2300 contact is now less that 300 contacs
  3. Well, this did not work either. I disconnected my phone from the car side and then reconnected it. First it looked like sound thing to do but afterwards there were still those duplicate contacts in my car phonebook. Before connecting the phone again I did clean my phone contact list and there were no duplicates in SIM card or phone memore any more. Does anyone have any other proporsals? Could this be handled with VAGCOM or something? Whatabout if I rename the phone? Does the car still recognise the phone with C-number or something and it still remembers the old phonebook info?
  4. VW Looks to Rein in Skoda to Prevent Sales Cannibalisation It seems that Skoda sells too well at the moment. On the other hand the profit might not be that good for VW group and therefore they wants to sell more VW than Skoda in some segments. This means that not all extras will be available in future in Skodas. ----- VW Looks to Rein in Skoda to Prevent Sales Cannibalisation 13 Oct 10 The first signs are appearing that VW is taking steps to creating a clearer definition of its brand structure and positioning, while at the same looking to protect its margins IHS Global Insight Perspective Significance Volkswagen (VW) appears to be taking steps to more clearly define the positioning of its brands in an attempt to try and limit sales cannibalisation between its separate units. Implications One of the strategies appears to be to take equipment that was previously standard on the company's Skoda models and put it on the options list. There appears to be some anxiety within the wider VW Group that Skoda is competing too closely with the VW brand model in key markets, with Skoda having the advantage of significantly lower price points for equivalent models. Outlook With the addition of Porsche next year the Group will number ten brands and the task of managing the brand and model strategy will become even more difficult. It appears that there is too much complexity in VW Group's volume brand structure at the very least—especially if the company is serious about its ambitions to acquire the Alfa Romeo brand—with SEAT being the obvious casualty. There are signs that the senior management of the Volkswagen (VW) Group is becoming increasingly focused on preventing sales cannibalisation between its brands. It appears that there is a move within the organisation to more clearly define the positioning of the various volume brands within the group, with special emphasis being placed on the relationship between the VW brand itself and Skoda. As the "mother brand" and by far the largest volume brand with in the overall group VW will always take precedence, both in terms of debuting new technology and in terms of positioning and marketing over the other volume brands within the group. When Skoda was acquired in 1991 it was always seen as the clear entry-level brand within the group. However, the leaps in quality and design that Skoda has made under VW's ownership, with the brand basing models on VW's platform and powertrain technology, means that in terms of its product offering Skoda has transformed itself over the past two decades. As a result the company now offers VW brand technology and build quality at a significantly lower price point than the VW brand in European markets. However, according to an Automobilwoche report VW is now de-contenting certain items of equipment from the Skoda range, and making previously standard items optional extras. This would appear to be an initiative to principally boost margins, although it has the useful side-effect to the VW brand of reducing Skoda's value proposition in relation to VW brand products. For example, Skoda's Climatic semi-automatic climate control system with a cooled glove box has been cut. This extra feature was a particularly popular selling point in dealerships. On the company's Superb model, which has taken a massive amount of plaudits in the media and has beaten other VW Group products, including the Audi A6, in group tests Skoda has already removed the umbrella integrated in the rear door—another highly regarded feature. This is now only available as an optional extra. And on the new sporty Fabia RS, xenon lighting can no longer be ordered at extra charge, while it was standard on its predecessor. However, this move is proving extremely unpopular with Skoda's dealers, with the chairman of the Skoda's dealer association Thomas Peckruhn claiming that the move is hurting customer satisfaction. He does not believe that Skoda is taking significant sales from the VW brand. Peckruhn said, "We conquer customers from French brands such as Peugeot and Renault, including Dacia." At the recent Paris Motor Show, Martin Winterkorn indicated that senior VW management believes that Skoda has already strayed too far into traditional VW territory in terms of design and quality, saying that, "We cannot have a Fabia with a higher value instrument panel then the Polo." It is thought in some circles that the recent replacement of Reinhard Jung with the former head of VW China Winfried Vahland was partly motivated by the increasingly unwanted crossover between the Skoda and the VW brands. Outlook and Implications Managing the overall group's model and brand structure, which is based on a successful platform-sharing strategy, is something that VW Group has managed very successfully over the past decade. Building models in the same segments on the same platform has been key to the VW Group's overall business strategy. For example the current VW Golf, Skoda Octavia, SEAT Leon and Audi A3 are all built off the same VW Group PQ35 platform, while powertrains are also shared across the ranges, albeit often with different features and power outputs. However, VW is now concerned that Skoda in particular is taking sales from higher margin models further up the brand spectrum. Purely from a business point it makes little sense for Skoda to take sales from higher-margin VW and Audi models. For example in Germany the entry-level Superb Estate sells for 2,500 euro less than the equivalent VW Passat, while the B-segment Fabia is 1,695 euro less than its sister model, the VW Polo. The Fabia was one of the biggest winners from the German scrappage scheme last year, with the model selling over 100,000 units in that market alone in 2009 (see World: 17 August 2010: Skoda Sales Rise 11.5% Y/Y in August), showing that some German consumers are less concerned about the badge on the car than they are about the value proposition on offer. There have already been some efforts to stem Skoda's creep into the territory of other VW Group products. For example it is noticeable that there is no six-cylinder diesel option in the Superb sedan and estate ranges. It was thought that senior Audi and VW marketing and engineering staff were vehemently opposed to such a model being offered. Hardly surprising when a V-6 diesel Superb would be a credible rival to equivalent Audi A6 version, which has a price point around 20% higher than the Superb. Bloomberg has reported data from the Center for Automotive Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen that VW is losing 500 million euro a year as a result of sales cannibalisation from VW to the cheaper Skoda and SEAT brands. While the expanding portfolio has been key to the VW Group's expansion, to the point where it is looking to topple Toyota as the world's biggest volume carmaker by 2018, the task of managing these multiple brands and an ever expanding model range, which now numbers nearly 200 separate models, is unlikely to become any easier. This is especially the case with the integration of the Porsche brand as the Group's tenth brand in 2011. If VW is serious about its reported interest in the Alfa Romeo brand (see France: 1 October 2010: Paris Motor Show 2010: Fiat CEO Says Alfa Romeo Not for Sale), it also begs the question of how another volume brand, albeit one which has been criminally underexploited in recent years, will fit into the VW Group's structure. The obvious casualty to make way for Alfa Romeo would be SEAT as it would be difficult to see how the two brands could co-exist together in the same group. SEAT is basically in the last-chance saloon. The brand has been the only consistently loss-making unit in the VW Group in recent years and the Spanish manufacturer is being allowed a five-year plan to turn around its fortunes under the new management of James Muir. If this fails and the group does eventually acquire Alfa from FIAT it would make sense to position Skoda as the Group's single defined entry-level brand, and it already appears as if the ground is being prepared for this strategy.
  5. Thanks! I bought Nokian tyres (made in Finland) (Nokian Tyres). My tyres are Nokian Hakkapeliitta R, 205/60 R16. I would have bought 205/55 R16 if those were available at the store were I bought those but these are fine also. I guess that other manufactures have a good non-spikes tyres also like Continental Ice Contact, etc., but I have always trusted Nokian tyres as a winter tyres and that's why choose those.
  6. Thanks! I like it also ;-) I bought the new winter tyres today and this time those are without spikes.

  8. Because of the some syncronation problems between my laptop and phone I had many duplicates in phone-book and therefore I had over 2300 contacts in Superb phone-book. I do not have premium bluetooth in my car but I think that this GSM III includes also the rSap sync automatically. My phone is Nokia e72.
  9. Hi, I have a problem with updated phone-book. I downloaded it into my Superb estate 2011 model and there is too many contacts in the phone-book. I tried to upload a new version of the phone-book there but the old contacts were not removed. How could I reset the phone-book uploaded in my car and remove the unnecessary contacts away there?
  10. My dealer called me today and confirmed that the car is now on dealer's premises and the actual delivery will be on this week Friday. Overall the process took 25 wks and 2 days. The compensation was not yet agreed.
  11. Yes, I know that 6 months is typical waiting time at the moment in Finland. I still think it is not acceptable even when someone else has experienced the same. Despite the waiting time, I'm very frustrated with this delay (my car was originally promised for midsummer) because I'm loosing actual money here. First of all there were this 1 % increase for the VAT and the bigger thing was that I have not been able to sell my old car before the new car arrives. Best time to sell it would have been June just because of the consumer habits with used summer cars here in Finland. One reason for promising the delivery time for 3 months or less in Finland might be the new standard that says the proper delivery time with new cars are 3 months or less. If the seller cannot achieve that the consumer is allowed to get some compensation of the delay. Loota, did you get any compensation because of this delivery time?
  12. Yes I agree partly. The facts I know are that preliminary manufacturing week was given by factory to be wk 20 and it was shown to dealer. The actual manufacturing week was updated by the factory sometimes between wk 21 to 23 into system. I have seen the both confirmations by myself when visited the retailer and saw their IT system confirmations. Rest of the communication has came from the dealer based on his experience and understanding of the delivery situation. The cars ordered in February this year were delivered within two months to customers in Finland and now the situation is a bit worse. The main problem here is in my mind that the factory nor the importer does not have a proper track and trace system in place so that I could follow my order online. Now I must rely on dealers information of the order situation and in most of the cases he only knows a preliminary manufacturing week, actual confirmed manufacturing week, the chassis number (which confirms that the car is manufactured), and of couse the delivery date from the harbor to dealer (this is still missing with my order). Even when there is bad communication done by the dealer I personally think that the root cause for all of this is a bad logistics management by Skoda.
  13. A short update here. This previous information was incorrect and I have not received my car yet. The overall ordering history for my car is: - Order placed 15th April 2010 (wk 15) - Preliminary production week was confirmed on 26th April and it was supposed to be wk 20. At the time it was said that it takes about 3 weeks after that when the car is in Finland. - On week 19 I asked the confirmation for the production week and on week 20 (18th May) it was confirmed by the dealer that the production week is 20. - On 5th June (wk 22) I asked from the dealer if the car is ready for the delivery and I was informed (7th June) this time by phone that the production week will be sometimes in August. - I asked 12th June and 6th July by email what is the confirmed manufacturing week for my car. I got a response on 6th July where it was confirmed to be week 33. - On week 33 Thursday (19th Aug) and on week 34 (25th Aug) I asked where is my car and I got an email confirmation on 26th Aug that the car is already in Harbor in Finland (this was incorrect info) - My dealer was on holiday on week 33 and therefore I visited the dealer premises on Friday 20th Aug. There were no explanation were the car is but my new register plate number was confirmed (it means that someone had to know the chassis number of my car for registering the car). - On 7th Sep I asked if the car is ready for delivery and I got response that it is not even in Finland yet !!! There were no comment for my natural question how is this possible because it was confirmed by email in previous sentence that it is in Finland already. - Next I asked about the delivery on 14th Sep and 16th Sep and it was confirmed by email that the car is in Ship already (Tue 21st Sep) - On Friday 24th Sep I asked if my car has arrived (The Tuesday ship from Lübeck, Germany is on Thursday morning 7AM in Hanko harbor and the ship was there on time based on port of Hanko web pages) and there were no response for this. - Today 29th Sep I asked about my car again and I got response by phone that the car has arrived to Hanko harbor, BUT there is a transportation damage on side window and the new window has been ordered from the factory. This will take 1 to 2 weeks extra time and there is no possibilities to get the car out of the harbor before that (Hanko harbor is only 100 km from where I live) and it must be fixed by the import company there in harbor. I have not ordered anything special. My order is Superb Combi 1.8 DSG Ambition, Mocca brown, towing bar, side airbags, MDI, undershield (or how to call that bad road package), anti-theft system, etc. NO sun roof or KESSY or navigation, etc. I really need a new car and therefore I have not canceled my order. During this waiting time the car price has also raised up 3 k€. Luckily I have to not pay that extra. I wonder if the dealer offers me something extras for my car for free because of this waiting time. Let's see. Otherwise this was my last Skoda ever. Btw. How could I check from the chassis number that what has been the actual manufacturing week for my car?
  14. Hi, I just got an email from my dealer and he confirmed that my car is already in Finland harbor. The car is Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI DSG Ambition, Mocca Brown and some extras. The order was made on 15th April. I just cannot wait to get the car delivered for me. Tommi13
  15. Hi, no problem to steel it from me. I stole it from local forum here in Finland. This discussion seems to be active in other Briskoda sections also. Tommi13
  16. How does your dealer know the production day when my dealer knows only the production week (wk 33 also)? However I hope that the flood situation in Czech's does not cause any delays for our orders Skoda halts Czech production .

  18. Sorry to hear that you have had bad experiences with Nokia. However this Meego is Linux based operating system - not Symbian based like N97 for instance. the graphical user interface may look the same. This was not a question of the best mobile phone. I'm sure this terminal mode will support most of the phones anyway.
  19. Hi, it seems that Volkswagen group is bringing the Nokia terminal mode into their cars (next year?). A short presentation can be found there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38gH8Bs0uMQ and more info there: http://www.nokia.com/terminalmode and there: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/news-media/announcements/2010/07/meego-software-platform-chosen-genivi-alliance . This is based on Meego operating system, whics is based on Linus OS and developed together with Nokia Corporation and Intel. However I cannot find anywhere if this solution will be taken in use also in Skoda cars and if there is any possibility install it afterwards into my car. Does anyone know if this can be installed afterwards into Bolero system and what does it require from the car (e.g. premium Bluetooth, etc.)? Br, Tommi13
  20. Like I was written earlier I ordered my Superb (Estate (or Combi like it is called here in Finland) with DSG 7) 15th April (wk 15) and the order war confirmed to factory build week 22 and now it is rescheduled to factory build week 33. It makes 18 weeks waiting time for manufacturing and additional 2-3 weeks for the delivery!!! Hope that there is no need to postpone my order any more.
  21. Hi again, this is just to update my order status. I visited yesterday my dealer and asked the manufacturing date again. In their database it was said that the planned manufacturing week is still week 20 (in the past) and in confirmed manufacturing week there were put only "FF*". Does anyone know for sure what does this FF* mean? Order forwarded far future? Anyhow it was also said that there is a big problems to deliver the gear boxes at the moment and my car there should be this dry DSG 7 box. Has anyone else faced the same problem with DSG7 recently or am I the onlyone who's manufacturing week cannot be confirmed?
  22. Ok, thats very understandable in a way. However it does not explain why my production week 20 (late May) is postponed to August. I would understand if there is clear problems in ramp down - ramp up activities like there usually is something in production environment. The summer holidays must be taken in account before publishing a new 2011 model start week.
  23. Same here! I ordered 15th April and the production week was supposed to be wk 20. Now the production has been postponed to August without any good explanations. Does anybody know if there has been any issues in Superb production? Maybe in new model ramp-up has been more difficult than expected or something?
