MY trusty 2003 Fabia 19tdi rear NS door lock has welded itself shut, been a problem for a few years but always managed to reset the locking system give it a thump and open the door in time for the MOT.
This time its jammed I have managed to get access to the mechanism no amount of tapping adjusting cables resetting will work, so its a deadlocked child proofed jammed on door lock that looks like I am going to have to chisel out. My question is has anyone performed such drastic door surgery I can access the levers inside the door but cannot seem to get any of them to engage the locking mechanism.
I have managed to get into the central locking mechanism and remove the wheels and cogs trying to release the dead locking mechanism but the door is still shut.
The car has covered 200k drives really well , but I am not going to spend £100s on it when I can get a low mileage looked after example for 2-3k , I also noticed that doors are really cheap at the scrap yards so putting a new one on would not be a problem if not the same colour just add to the shabby chic of the car.
By the way if I ever find out who designed such a piece of Sh*** at VW I am going to shove their Engineering Degree where the sun does not shine, this should have been 30 minutes of remove the door card take the motor out replace offending part reset door open.
