  1. Can't remember where abouts in the East Riding you are, do you use Hull or York for the dealers - I use Hull, and while they've yet to do anything wrong in terms of mucking things up, they're not exactly speedy, been made to wait far too many times, time keeping is something which they don't excel in!!!

    Roof Box

Does anyone know the make and comparison model of the offical skoda roof box seen here I just want to compare the price for a non skoda branded one. Somewhere I've read that it's a Thule, but I'm struggling to figure which one! Cheers Mr.P

While I can see your point, I would argue that fuel duty is not a fair tax. If all the money I paid on fuel went on roads (maybe the Humber bridge could be free then!) then I can see that being fair. But why should I subsidise things for someone who doesn't drive but maybe earns more money than me?? Surely if you believe that income tax is fair (the richer pay more etc) then that is a better system for taxation then fuel duty. At the end of the day, drivers just seem to be an easy target for the tax man.
  4. Thanks Mike - anyone else able to answer any of the question?? Many thanks in advance, Mr.P
  5. You won't be disappointed - I've been driving round in mine for 24hours trying hard to get some slippage, and we have tons of snow in East Yorks, but they seem to stick tightly to the road. On an empty slush/ice road, I was very impressed with how quickly the Yeti and Vredesteins stopped in a smooth and controlled manner!! How to make a Yeti driver smile more - got to work with no issues only to hear of 100 other staff tell their tales of sorrow!!!!
  6. To save a new thread, and because I got confused reading all previous posts, I seek some help from the knowledge that you all posses. I currently have on my winter 215/60 R16s. I plan to get chains for a few runs to the Alps this season. So my questions are as follows 1) Can I fit chains to just the rear? The manual implies this! 2) On page 221 of the manual, it refers to a depth of 45mm, what does this refer to? 3) Are these any good? My link 4) Would these be betterhttp://snowchains.co.uk/main/mof_rts_info.htm 5) Would these work on the front? My link Many Thanks Mr.P
  7. I also spoke to Will about this, he is investigating. I will be ringing him about the on Monday to see if he has got to the bottom of the issue.
  8. I have also just sent an email of complaint for the lack of folding mirrors and also the lack of what they advertised in the RRP. Hopefully that will pay for a dog guard and roof rack!
  9. In all honesty, I reckon DAB will go the same way as the mini disk, the future will probably be streaming music.....

    Meet Roxy.....

Nope - she does not have folding mirrors. I would find that more useful than boarding spots, which I still have not found a use for.....
  11. I got mine locally from http://www.tyremen.co.uk they also deliver. I got a set of Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme for about £120 a corner. On the note of insurance for a different set of wheels (Audi), I rang Skoda insurance, who spoke to the underwriters and they said no problem, at no extra cost
  12. I trawled through my manual (all 200+ pages) and nothing.....
  13. I went for the Elegance I think for the seats and headlights, and while the seats are lovely, bloody hell the bi-xenon are amazing!!!
  14. Having had Roxy 14 days now, can conform that the electric (!) chair is wonderful, as well as the demist and dimming wing mirrors - but fold and unfold they do not. Am and I happy with out it ? Hell Yes! I still feel very smug every time I get in and drive :D I did scare myself the other day, when I floored it for the first time, I wasn't quite expecting to get to the other side of the roundabout so quickly!!!
  15. I suppose the problem with speakers is how much do you want to pay? From experience, I've ran the JBL power series from an amp and head unit and they are very good quality. I'm not sure what size the SM takes yet, but these are roughly the thing. http://jblcaraudio.co.uk/p6560c-2-way-16-5cm-components Laterally I installed some focal speakers, which reproduce sound better then the JBLs (just), I had something like http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-focal-165vb_p-24094.htm I was going to go for the speaker upgrade, but for the same price, I can install quality as opposed to quantity ....... Part of it depends on what sort of music you listen to, and there is a good argument that if you are listening to MP3s, at anything less than 320kbs, then it's wasted money.

    Meet Roxy.....

The handover was ok - yours? Just off to wash her and investigate about the rough road package. The electric seat is awesome - though I don't have the foggiest how to use the folding mirrors?? :wonder: The manual includes details about the electric seats, but nothing about folding mirrors......

    Meet Roxy.....

After the longest week in the world, I went to London today to collect Roxy. She's a 140 Elegance, with Rough Road, heated windscreen, electric seat and spare wheel - in storm blue. On the 240 mile drive back to East Yorkshire, we sat at 70, and the maxi dot averaged 48mpg - which I was quite happy with. The likes, (most of it!), but in particular: -driving position -responsiveness -dancing head lights -the bluetooth -streaming audio from my phone -cruise control The could be better -mirror has no blind spot bit (as some mentioned recently, just smalled mirrors then I'm used to) -coming from a normal estate car, the boot with the spare wheel is a little small (I knew this when I order, it's something I will adapt to!!) But it would seem that I'm one happy new owner :D
  18. I picked mine up today, I will crawl under tomorrow to check that/what my rough road package looks like.....
  19. DtD- save £2000 - and £65 for afirst class train from York this Saturday - if it's Marlborough you're going, get the train to Isleworth. :p :p

    Bolero ?

Firstly, (in a very light hearted way) I do feel sorry for you being a Mac and i-tune user In MP3 terms (not sure how it works with the silly Macs), there are two ways to have album art. 1) the image is saved in the same folder as the album 2) But in the case I was referring too, the part of the file which records the artist name, song name, track number etc is the ID3 tag. Version 1 is very basic which seems to be what I think the Bolero prefers, then there is Version 2 which includes many more things to add, one of which is album art. To add or remove this, you can use programs such as Tag&Rename or MP3Tag. If one was using Itunes, I would suggest converting all songs to MP3s using something such as DBPoweramp, and save all files in an structured directory. I use Artist>Album Name. You can then delete the evil which is itunes

    Bolero ?

Does anyone know if the Bolero can display album art that is embedded within the id3v2 tag of an MP3 file? Many Thanks Mr.P
  22. I'm hoping that some of you very knowledgable people maybe able to help. I collect my Yeti on Saturday (hopefully ) and I need to get a dog guard asap - I have the raised floor for the spare wheel. I want a full length dog guard, so I can take our the rear seats, and the dogs can't escape, and also a tailgate guard. I'm worried about being able to access the spare wheel with some. Something like this However, would these feet fit behind the rear seats and still allow access to the spare? Also for the tailgate, but again, will I be able to access the floor? Or does anyone know of any other available options, so help save me some ££ for a custom made on...?? Many Thanks, Mr.P
  23. Not sure, but one is a storm blue 140, hopefully collection Saturday
  24. My 140 Elegance is on her way, but just a quick question to those in the know. Is it possible to remove the middle rear seat but leave the other two in? Cheers, Mr.P
