1. BD and OL are pretty bad too. I lived M19 and sky wouldn't even cover me at 24...
2. My old car: most 17's will be replicas, genuine ones are more concave, and 18/19" (think 17's might have been an option on A3/4's?)
3. Everyone who is commenting on the insurance costs has overlooked the fact his location is Stockport... As a former south Manchester resident, I can understand, its just what its like around there; I challenge all those people of similar age living down south do do a quote on his postcode with their insurer and re-post...
4. I had a CG motorsport paddle plate with an OEM LUK pressure plate in my PD130 hybrid, never slipped.
5. Coilovers now sold to Ant, cheers buddy. RS6's still in the garage...
6. Sorry bud, had a call earlier and coilovers sold pending payment tomorrow (unless it was you that rang but I don't think it was was your from Leicestershire); will let you know should the sale fall through though. Edit - no was was Ant (as above)
7. My Fabia VRS is gone, so these are for sale: AP coilovers - Sold pending payment 31/03/12 Now Sold 01/04/12 17" RS6 Replicas Had these a while so they have had some use and been ran year-round; all have slight kerbing but nothing serious - all wheels are true and hold air perfectly - most damage is from potholes due to slightly stretched tyres. They are 17", 7.5J, ET35, 5x100 PCD with whatever bore size a Fabia is and have 205/40/17 tyres. 2 tyres are virtually brand new with 2k miles if that, the other 2 are about 2mm from the wear markers - all are budget efforts. Owned by me from new; again I have the original reciept from Wheelbase in Oldham for a smidge over £400. -ve's: the two lower tyres have a bit of shoulder wear due to the car being a bit 'low' at one point (see pic below) - I put them on the back and raised the car after that. They are still legal though (&--#62;1.3mm over 75% of tread), and have been through an MOT so no issues with legality. After £170 ono. Same delivery/collection rules as above. Pics: Shoulder wear: If you want to view any items I am usually in most evenings after half 5 and can be contacted on 07745628157. Thanks for looking.
8. You could fit a full set of coilovers in that time, I'd try somewhere else
9. If you buy my AP coilovers I'll fit them for you for free... Think Awesome charge about £150 for fitting and alignment; its probably about 1-2 hours labour for springs depending on where you go.
10. The VRS has gone. I felt a little sad to see her go, I'll probably wish I hadn't when I start working out my fuel expenditure now... Enter the tan-booth-coloured French thing: Yes its french, yes the wings are made of plastic, no the passenger window doesn't work (new regulator to be fitted under warranty next week), but yes its rather nippy, and yes it does sound amazing. So far mpg has been aound 35, which I don't think is half bad to say I've been a bit nasty to it at times, although I'll probably get sick of buying petrol in 12 months, sell up and but another VRS...
11. I've used More BHP (Jason) in Crewe, as far as I know he uses DNA Tuning maps, so not a back street un-heard-of tuner. I never had problems with mine on a 'stage 2', didn't smoke and felt pretty smooth. Had a 1.4 tdi Polo mapped by them as well, no problems with that either. Should be no problem removing/replacing ecu; but don't forget you'll have a non-running car until your ecu returns, so might be worthwhile finding someone closer who you can drive to and back again if you need the car.
12. 0.16 seconds is nothing when you consider the subjectivity of driver capabilities, tyre choice, and even driver weight though. Even with 50bhp more, the RS is a heavier car, so your lead proabaly isn't too unrealistic. Swap drivers though and I reckon the results would have been the other way around... Only briefly though. You will lose in the long run, or why else would most race performance engined be high powered, rather than lower power higher torque.
13. With the same driver? 50bhp more in a 100kg heavier car with a driver with less skill/slower reaction at the lights will level the field pretty easily I reckon. You need a fair bit more power/tonne to pull a decent lead in a straight line, which is why I doubt the Fiesta ST comments. My girlfriend has a Fiesta ST, and while it wasn't as quick as my hybrid Fabia, it is no slouch, and whether I could 'pull away' from it in a straight line when all other factors are equal I don't know (plus I've sold the Fabia now so never will...).
14. There is no way a 165 bhp deisel would 'pull away' from a 180 bhp lighter higer reving petrol. Although point taken, at 'legal' speeds with 15 bhp in it, its probably more down to who hits the gas first.
15. His car is broken, or not 180 bhp then. Power always beats torque in the long run...
16. Map will put your insurance up by the most compared to other mods. If you only have one choice, get a decent set of coilovers, as matt says, will improve the looks no end and make the handling a bit more manageable; best bang for buck solution when it comes to modding and insurance.
17.
That sounds quality! Anyway, I've gone and done it;I pick this up on thursday, wish me luck...
18.
I'd have a tsport compressor over an ep3 type r any day of the week, so no.The other problem is they are rather pricey for what you get and a lot of them are packing mega-miles if they are reasonably priced.
19. Yeah, the thrust bearing has pulled itself to bits, he's going for brand new clutch while the box is out; might as well... Off lift/vtec they are probably only slightly less torquey than any 1.8/2.0 NA petrol give or take, but you've always got that thought at the back of your mind that you need to be at 7.5k revs, plus I do a lot of motorways and prefer boost for over-taking purposes. 500 Abarths do have a good sound-track, and you can get off-the-shelf tuning packages to take them over 200 brake; which would be hilarious, but they are rather pricey for what they are, and perhaps ever-so-slightly feminine...
20. Its not as fast as a Megane 225, I know this because I drove one down a national road on sunday.
21. I've been offered £3k px on my 54 plate with 80k miles, so I'd say you'd be looking at a similar figure; yours is slightly newer, but the milage is slightly higher. Privately, I'd say £4.5k is a bit optomistic, but not unacheivable, reckon £4-£4.3 would be easily do-able though.
22. There is a high possibility I may be going French (I know, I know...), Had a go in a Megane 225 Cup and really liked it; had plenty of go at the right foot, and was happy as anything in 5th at 30, so economy might not be that bad; and they sound pretty epic. Been offered £3k for the fabia on trade-in, which, while not as much as i'd want from a private sale, probably isn't that bad all things considered; 80k 54 plate with the usual signs of an eight-year-old car (unless anyone wants to offer £3.5 fairly sharpish...). Sorry Jase, I do like the t-sports, but they need to be screaming to get the best out of them and I want something a bit more of an easy drive, I’ve got the Fiesta for a limiter hitting noise-fest, plus parts are pretty much impossible to come by easily – a friend just killed the clutch in his and its not been the easiest journey getting it sorted.
23. Yeah, they are like a sleeper R32, but a NA 3.2 V6 is going to be a thirsty beast...
