  1. Please see attached. There are two slightly different versions of the sticker, one in the service book and a mouldy one in the boot. Looks like the gearbox code is just "GSH" (with the 9151 following it in the service-book being the paint code). That would also be consistent with the table you posted later. The suggested search term "GSH gearbox" seems to give appropriate hits on ebay, so I will double-check with the garage and try that. Many thanks for everyone's help, much appreciated :-) I notice that sometimes there is a manufacturer's code, e.g. "02T300053D". Would someone please happen to know how that relates to "GSH" and where on my car to find it if it provides better information?
  2. My 2004 Fabia (AWY) has started to make terrible noises that sound like something is about to break. They stop if I press the clutch. Based on this I was advised it is a failing gearbox rather than just the clutch or thrust bearing. I first noticed a mild hint of unusual noise about 13 years ago. It was deteriorating very slowly and there were no squeaks. Now at just shy of 100k miles it went from acceptable to terrible within maybe 50 miles. A garage offered to replace the gearbox cheaply but I would need to buy it myself. Would someone please happen to know what part number I need and where to look? Also whether taking the risk that the new gearbox will not work if it even fits is a reasonable strategy. I am willing to spend maybe £1000, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. I suspect that Mr Clutch would be in that price bracket but I hear they are best avoided? Many thanks in advance for any advice/help :-)
  3. My 2004 Fabia (1.2 Petrol AWY) reports: 16500 engine coolant temp sensor (G62) implausible. The shown temperature does seem wrong on occasions. After I last bought fuel with a hot engine, the temperature gauge stayed at the very low end of the range for maybe 5 miles of dual carriage way, and slowly returned to normal just as I thought I should stop and see if I still had any coolant. Most of the time it does not seem egregiously off, but I only drive short distances (about 3 miles). Other than this, everything works fine. Should I worry? Many thanks in advance.
  4. I went with carparts4less as they were cheap and stated the headlights were RHD. Their customer service was a bit special, but probably broadly what someone driving an 18-year-old Skoda would want. You may have a better experience if you create an account before ordering. The rather brief MOT re-test passed. Many thanks to everyone who replied :-)
  5. Many thanks for the replies. Does anyone have any comments about https://www.autodoc.co.uk/dpa/13161679 and https://www.autodoc.co.uk/dpa/13161703 ? They are under half-price of the ones at https://www.eurocarparts.com/ that someone mentioned earlier. Any warnings about compatibility would be especially helpful. It is a .co.uk site, but there is nothing obvious to indicate if they are RHD. Thanks again.
  6. I have a 2004 Fabia hatchback that failed the MOT on headlights. Something about the pattern not being right, and a polish being required. It is a 1.2HTP, engine code AWY. This has happened for several years running. The usual solution is to take it to a garage who perform a placebo treatment and issue an invoice. It then passes the retest because I have an invoice for a repair. The headlights work perfectly fine in that they illuminate the road well. I wondered if someone had a better solution, or knew the manufacturers code for replacement headlights. The car is an LHD import, but back in the day there was no difficulty fitting the headlights, so the current ones should be standard parts. Many thanks in advance.
  7. Thank you, that is extremely helpful. Turns out these guys have a black one: https://www.skoda-dily.cz/nahradni-dil/6y0857701ahcp-predni-levy-bezpecnostni-pas-skoda-8346.html
  8. Many thanks for the replies. I was going to get someone else to fit the replacement, and cannot easily obtain the current part number. However, the engine code is AWY, and the service book also mentions code 6Y21C4. It is a 2004 hatchback. There are MK1 seatbelts listed on ebay. The part number they seem to give is 6Y0857702A although that is based just on the model year. They all look very old, and I cannot find that exact part for sale new, so I am hoping there is a newer replacement. Any hints on what part to get would be very welcome. Even knowing if left and right front seatbelts are the same would help. I think polishing the seatbelt might have helped back when the retraction mechanism at least partly worked. I'll try it on my next Skoda :-)
  9. I have MK1 Fabia. It is left-hand-drive and the driver's (i.e. left) seatbelt was no longer winding back well, but would with a bit of patience. Then it failed the MOT as a result, and was 'repaired' so it does not wind back at all. It then somehow passed when re-rested by the same garage that both failed it and did the work. I thought it best not to ask too many questions :-) It seems the original part is no longer easily available, presumably because the explosives in the pre-tensioner expire after 15 years. Could someone please tell me if there is a modern replacement I could buy instead, and its part number? Many thanks in advance.
