  1. Volvo for me. The Xc60 D5 AWD is a lovely car. Step up in quality compared to the Octavia. I will probably part ex my Octavia for something else in the Volvo range next year. I have the Octavia Vrs and XC60 FWD 2.0D. The Volvo is just as quick but more refined. DSG is better than 8 speed Volvo auto though.
  2. Volvo is in a different class for refinement and the D5 AWD will be much better
  3. The road noise is really getting on my nerves along with the not so good speakers. I like the car but it feels a bit cheap compared to more modern newer models out there. Other car is a Volvo xc60 and that is really refined , quiet and smooth ride along with brilliant standard sound system. Also just as quick as my car! I will have a look at the Superb but don't think I will be sticking to Skoda for the next car. The depreciation is awful as I have just found out! .
  4. Hi, yes it has always been above since I bought the car two years ago
  5. Road noise! Not sure if I mentioned this before but much louder than my Volvo which is super refined inside.
  6. gauge not guage! Hi, have you experienced any similar gremlins ? Usually from cold to engine warming up all ok then for some reason when pushing faster (usually up a hill) the car temperature gauge jumps into the red. Warning message comes on to pull over but then the temp comes back down to 90 and fine the rest of the day. The car has been great and due for a service in a month or two. Probably take it in earlier for a check up. Thanks
  7. Road noise and wind noise from the door seals are bad on my car. The kids always say how noisy my car is compared to mum's Volvo . They are correct as I drove the XC60 yesterday and it is really quiet. (it also feels just as fast as my vRS too). Don't think I will have another Octavia or this model. Good fun but lacking in some places .
  8. Hi, had mine for 2 years this week and I seem to get around 52mpg on average. Sometimes over 60 when stuck at 50 with average speedcameras. I just drove it as normal with nice bursts from new
  9. Hi Q102, I can see you have the Volvo XC60. My wife has the Volvo XC60 2015 model and it is very smooth and quiet. I have the Octavia 3 vRS 184 DSG and it has been great. The dsg seems smoother than the Volvo new auto. However, I am finding the road noise and cabin wind noise a pain in the Octavia. Was the test drive in the Superb ok as far as cabin noise? Many thanks and for the report.
  10. I agree with andyvee, with pcp just get the best deal for the car, pay a low deposit and keep the monthly repayments sensible. No point paying large deposits as the idea is to keep costs down then hopefully swap over at end of term for another. The PCH is what I am interested in next time. As I will not be keeping the car at the end of the term might be better depending on the figures. Downside with PCH I will have to find the next deposit instead of potential equity in the trade in car.
  11. In the DSG, I sometimes select sport mode then touch the gear level so it does back into normal but the sound generator is still there. My sound generator isn't as loud as when I purchased it. I prefer the semi auto when you push the lever to the left controlling the gear change. The car seems to fly!
  12. I think it is a step backwards. Shame I loved my Roomster.
  13. My average is just under 50 over 18k and that includes lots of 10 mile school runs then longer trips with work on the motorway. A recent 300 round trip all motorway returned 64mpg as an average for the day. That was on cruise but with some 50 road work restrictions.
  14. I have covered 30k in 18 months and have the tdi/dsg . It has been perfect and won't go back to the manual. Very smooth. I like the eco mode for coasting down long hills. Strange to see 70 mph at 900 rpm. For a bit of fun I like moving the lever to the left as I can select when to move up and down the gears. The down side is how quickly it gets to the speed limit. I would have another dsg . It is far better than my Volvo XC60 8 speed linked to diesel.
  15. I received a mailshot from VW today and VW offered the Passat Estate SE Business 1.6 Cr 120 bhp with £1500 contribution. However, the spec has Bluetooth, adaptive cruise, front assist with emergency braking, 6.5" sat nav, ergoComfort seats , front fogs and tinted glass. Not exactly exciting and retail is £25,665! The finance on it was 6k deposit and £249 per year for 3 years. It will be interesting to compare the Superb, A6 and Passat with discounts and finance.
  16. You might find a better deal before the end of the PCP. Dealers will know you won't have much time at the end to decide but if you are offered something earlier the sums might add up to move earlier than planned.
  17. Pipsyp, my original car would have been the same as your model but with DSG. I asked my dealer to play around with the finance figures and the vRS came out cheaper per month due to the higher GFV including leather. I don't think my car at list price can compare to the quality of the Volvo (discounted price) for the same money. Different cars but it makes you think about the next one.
  18. PCP is manufactured to try and keep clients within the brand at the end of their deal. No surprise the trade is enough for the next deposit and off they go for a few more years. No problem if you are happy to wait until the end of the contract. The 0% and free servicing was a no brainer for me a few years ago. I cannot believe I am almost half way through my current deal. Last free service coming up this month. Other brands are always keen to temp the client over. Earlier this year I sorted a new deal on a Volvo XC60 for my wife. Instant 25% off list matching DTD from local dealer , service pack for 3 years and a few extras. It will be interesting to see what Volvo offer for my car in a few years. I have been really impressed by the Volvo quality. Super smooth new 8 speed diesel auto and just as fast as my car. I do like the look of the new Superb hatchback though.
  19. I have always preferred estates but for a change I think the new superb looks better as a saloon. It will be interesting to see and test drive both versions.
  20. Try LV. I have found them great over the past few years. My last renewal was around £280 with European cover.
  21. Looks great. It looks very similar to my Octavia vRS apart from the boot!
  22. DSG for me. I have clocked up almost 30k in 15 months and it has been brilliant. I won't go back to the manual out of choice. So easy to drive and super smooth.
  23. 63mpg from mine on a long trip with lots of 50 mph restrictions. This week lots of A roads back from Birmingham and still returned 57mpg . Excellent when you thing it's 2.0 and dsg.
  24. I ordered the leather heated seats and have found them excellent. They are really supportive and my bad back has gone. The quality is ok but not as good as my Volvo XC60.
