  1. I think the real problem here is not emissions or costs on their own, but a major manufacturer quite happy to deceive, cheat and commit, potentially, criminal acts of deception upon their clients. The individuals belief about the cars performance etc, is a side show. The main issue is VW being dishonest. That will take some forgiving round the world.........and very rightly so..........
  2. Whats with this new theory of putting the new tyres on the rear, of a front wheel drive vehicle...surely some mistake...always put the new ones on the front and have done for decades with fwd....
  3. No doubt with a great deal of glee and relief to SUK who have always appeared to hover between dislike and disinterest to the poor old Roomster
  4. Thanks Hughp good to hear..I`ve got a Roomster on 15inch wheels and thinking of changing to the Michelin CC...good to hear they particularly suit the Roomie
  5. Not suprised..They never marketed the Roomster in any meaningful way, so I have little doubt that SUK have declined to have the replacement, clutterin their UK yard up, so to speak
  6. sorry to hear that..The black and chrome one is for vehicles post June 2013 when Model year 2014 started production..Vehicle prior to this have the previous Skoda badges, if that helps
  7. Very interesting and alarming reading on this thread..I honestly thought the days of rust buckets were long gone, but not in the VAG world..Mine is 2 years old but I`ll be keeping a close eye on the paintwork and if it starts to bubble I`ll chop it in but not for anything VAG...Ironic that Fiat seem to be years ahead..
  8. We`ll have to meet next week and you can have a look at mine...I`ll contact the Service manager at Wakefield and ask him for the low down..sent you a PM..Cheers
  9. Just had my Skoda returned after repair today...A stone smashed the turbo cooler radiator on it..expensive job not covered by warranty...However DM Keith Wakefield did a great job for me and got SUK to offer a generous goodwill gesture...This is my third Skoda but all have been serviced within the dealer network..I`m convinced that this is what hugely helps your cause
  10. The Grand Finale  ............. Car has just been returned from DM Keith at Wakefield where the damaged radiator/cooler/whatever has been replaced. Not only that but they have fitted a 6mm mesh right across the front of it. I can`t actually see what its fitted to on either side but it looks a substantial fitting and will certainly deflect or slow down any other damn unguided missile hell bent on relieving me of mucho dinero...They also serviced it and at the same time changed the keyfob so all doors now open on first click..Whoo Hoo :sun: Mrs P delighted, she has lost count of the times she has stood outside the car, in the pouring rain, waiting for me to get her door open So big thanks to Chris Rushforth at DMK lots of help and assistance and made me feel like my custom was valued..Many Thanks Chris
  11. Jon, Glad to hear you and your family are fine and a big thumbs up to the Rapid, good to know they are as safe as that protecting your family..Big plus....As for Insurance Co and HGV drivers, both in the same category.....................right at the bottom
  12. I agree SUK and the dealers can be helpful..My Roomster`s going in on Tuesday having had the turbo cooler punctured by a stone that went through the grille at the bottom of the car and caused an expensive, non warranty, repair..Skoda and DM Keith are both paying the bulk of the repair as a `goodwill`gesture...I`m on my third Skoda from the same dealer but always have them serviced via the dealer network. Its that fact, I am convinced, helps you when you want a favour from them...If you want to save a few bob fine, but..................
  13. I test drove one in 2013 and thought it was just dreadful, certainly after my MK2 Octavia...acres of plastic, poor seating and roadholding and the steering was so light it was dangerous...Sadly it was obvious from the first 100 yards that this was not well built..Bought the Roomster instead and a lot better vehicle but will be looking at the Seat Toledo next..They seem to hold their price better than the Rapid as well..
  14. Yes folks this week`s Auto Express has published its 2015 Driver Power best car categories and the good old Roomster is the MPV winner, considered best in class :sun: ...But then we all knew that already..Interesting that one of the chief reasons for its success is the versatility of the thing as well as the seat comfort and reliability......This has beaten off everything from Vauxhall`s meriva through the Ford C Max to Citroen/Renault MPV`s despite it being around for so long!!.... Ironic that they cease production and its still wins awards...Now can we start to image what might have happened, if someone with an iota of wit and imagination had pushed and publicised this car, highlighted its strengths instead of seeming to be embarrassed by its odd looks(to some)..What a failure for Skoda, they should have fought harder for it...IF it gets replaced at all, it will be a re badged Caddy which is primarily a van anyway will be grossly overpriced, withdrawn after 2 years and some plank will say..`Ah well, we tried with the Roomster, but it didn`t work` At least we have had the Roomster and been impressed by it and will still be cheap, versatile, reliable and comfortable transport......and if you are lucky enough to have the 105 a hot ship!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yes and rant over...............back to just disappointment
