Replaced my almost identical 2010 car 3 years old. Going to miss her, but 2500 miles a year now no good for a diesel. New car built 9 weeks early on 16/11 was due February 18.
  2. Sat in a Megane GT Line. Looks good from the outside.Driving position seemed ok but was not impressed with overall packaging. Folded rear seats down, could not believe the waste of usable space, don`t need an estate though. Expensive for what it offered after adding must haves, has to be auto only. Between myself and family owned 6 Renaults in the past, always liked quirky yet innovative styling and packaging. Also driven Toyota CHR Hybrid, cvt no thanks. Spoiled a potentially good car for me. Had a 1990 Corolla GTI from new, kept it 7 years as best made car I ever owned.
  3. Have driven Audi a3 sportback with 150 cod stronic + 2.0 190 stronic multilink suspension. Preferred 150 cod as new 7speed box 1 gear too many for 190 imo. I use auto gearbox in manual mode most of the time and 190 was not good away from lights etc. Tried in all conditions for over an hour, mpg was poor below 40 mpg at 50-60 mph max, not impressed. Preferred my 6 speed dsg Octavia mk2 vrs diesel. Seat Leon 184 FR tdi dsg chassis was a bit disappointment compared to my Octavia vrs cr Mk2. Chassis lacked feel and not responsive enough for me but may be better with dcc or Bilstein b12 upgrade. Seat Leon Cupra 280 driven 3, always got wow factor. MBQ platform has altered driving position though, not as good as my Octavia vrs cr Mk2. Octavia 3 vrs 230 dsg. Best driving position but did not feel much better to drive than Mk 2 vrs imo. Another disappointment maybe better with dcc or Bilstein b12 upgrade.
  4. Meaty 101, Bad knees (damaged in 1997 by a poor car seat design) so auto only now. Used to do 10k pa but now retired, so unless leased diesel not such a good idea. MBQ platform has changed driving position / layout, for me not as good as old platform without more seat adjustment available. Had another Octavia vrs cr dsg hatch from new 2010 - 2012, 34,000 miles replaced by current car. Had a Seat Leon 140 tdi dsg stylance for 4 years 44k from new before Octavia, good comfortable car. Golf R dsg had test drive around town only, was deliberate to test basic ride + mpg, averaged 20mpg max. Not as comfortable as my car, as have found MBQ platform has changed driving position. Nearly leased a Golf R dsg in June 2014, deal was pulled by VW 30 minutes before I ordered it. £7600 for 24 months made sense at the time for more fun for the bucks. Audi S3 + Golf R`s now too desirable to be stolen, looking for something a bit more under the radar at my age. Leon Cupra fantastic drive ticks the boxes but basic seat comfort without electric seat option is an issue (available now with leather only in uk want alcantara factory checking if can do). Reminded me of Peugeot 205 1.6 gti had from new in 1987, such fun. Leon FR have priced up 1.8 dsg. needs a lot of options to get to Cupra spec. Golf Mk 7.5 no electric drivers seat option available in uk yet, so crossed off shortlist. Could go recaro route or have seat modified, looking at costs using EKTA info via dealers etc. Audi A3 3+ 5dr have a tilting seat base as standard. 2.0 190 + 1.5 cod petrol on list. Audi cannot tell me when 1.5 due in uk. Octavia mk 3 vrs 245 dsg. Best driving position as bigger car but needs mods to improve handling + ride imo. Felt a bit sterile. drove one for about an hour. Prefer steering weight of my car but can`t get progressive steering in it to make more direct.
  5. I have a 2012 62 Octavia vrs cr dsg hatch. Low mileage rear sensors, mfsw, factory black alloys + rain + light sensors , in vg condition. Car still takes a lot of beating but needs better spec and have to think about potential long term cost for any dsg or diesel issue. Currently pay £520 pa for extended warranty. Only covering up to 5k pa now Trying to decide if I spend money and upgrade current car or go for something with petrol engine in summer with kit + modern technology acc + blind spot + rear camera.I am not able to do mods on my car, so would need it done for me. Octavia add on plan B12 suspension kit + Rarb or similar to improve handling. Do not want harsher ride. Bluetooth module + Dab + Front parking sensors +Sound deadening kit + Lightweight alloys Alternatives new Seat Leon Cupra 310 dsg hatch Audi A3 1.5 cod or 2.0 190 FL Sport sline hatch Skoda Octavia 245 dsg hatch I have driven these cars so far. Leon Cupra 280 wow. Great drive needs better tyres + 18” wheels + electric seat adjustment (have bad knees) Octavia 230 was ok but something was missing, was an estate. Needs dcc or b12 kit + Alcantara + 18” wheel upgrade. Audi FL 190 sline stronic 2wd. Disappointing. Needs dcc or b12 kit + upgraded steering wheel + poss 4wd. Audi PFL 1.4 cod sline stronic. Good then dcc or b12 kit Golf R didn`t tick boxes Any comments / suggestions appreciated.
  6. I have also registered for the same reasons `For a whole range of other issues I have not been treated well by Skoda UK and VWFS. Skoda/Volkswagen are not really interested in what their customers have to say about the whole issue, and for that reason I will be joining the group action`. My last 3 cars have been VAG product, retail value £65k - Purchased because they best met my criteria.Comfort + drive ability + space 2007 Seat Leon Stylance 140 tdi dsg new - 2 new turbo`s in first 6 months + egr valve failed at 40k - refurbished under warranty, dealer told me looked like was from a car with 100k on clock. Car never performed as well as it should have done in 4 years but at the time could not afford to change it + did not know about these issues then. 2010 Skoda Octavia Vrs Tdi dsg hatch new - Kept for 3 years, no issues with engine. 2012 Skoda Octavia Vrs Tdi dsg Hatch x demo - Had for 3 years now only covered 20,800 miles
  7. I test drove a 230 dsg recently. Asked Skoda UK Customer Services if I could have in Race Blue. Factory said no, only in 4 colours as per brochure, green was not included.
  8. Have driven 3 x Leon Cupra 280 dsg with DCC, system works very nicely for me and covered by warranty too. Also looking at Bilstein B12 kit for my mk 2 Octavia vrs if I keep it, as has low mileage.
  9. I drove an Octavia Vrs 230 dsg estate last weekend, definitely had progressive steering. I have informed Skoda UK Customer Services that the brochure for Vrs no longer shows it. They are looking into it. Skoda CZ website confirms that it comes with progressive steering.
  10. Looking at PCH for 230 dsg hatch as spec ticks boxes if deal good enough. Test drive on Saturday. My biggest concen is big depreciation, 10% more than Audi a3 2:0 Quattro sportback + 5% more than Leon Cupra 290 dsg hatch in 1st year alone.. Did not used to be an issue before on Mk2, had x 2 which very happy with, but to add Bluetooth / dab / front parking sensors looking at 2k + Bilstein B12 £772 +extending warranty cost £500 pa + mot etc. Costs that I will not get back and would prefer to have more modern chassis.
  11. Confirmed by dealer yesterday. Skoda UK Customer Service checking what changes due if any for VRS. Trying to find out if PCH can be had for less than 10K per annum. Going to test drive 230 dsg on Saturday
  12. According to Skoda Customer Service, VW Amarok uk vehicles have had 2:0 ltr software upgrade. A letter should be due soon for Skoda owners. What I have been unable to find is anything that shows any before / after comparison. How do we know if the fix is a good one? Cannot believe what VW say any longer without real black and white data.
  13. If VW have to go for bankruptcy protection, where could that leave owners with affected cars if fix not done or not successful?
  14. I purchased Scotch guard spray from Amazon. Accidently made a biro mark. Wiped it off protected seat with a baby wipe easily and quickly.
