  1. I seem to get around 3000 to 3500 miles to a litre. It has done this from new and has not got better or worse in the 33000 miles I have owned it.
  2. I have the alcantara trim on my car. The centre part of the seat and backrest are suede rather than leather and are therefore a bit warmer to the touch in the winter and possibly cooler in the summer. Another reason for my choice was the fact that the full leather was far too light whereas the alcantara was dark, very useful with children on board Grimpatt
  3. My car is now 14 or 15 months old with 16450 miles on the clock. The service indicator tells me that it is due for a service in 500 miles. I think I have got so many miles before the first service as most of its runs are over 30 minutes long allowing it to get thoroughly warmed up. I also drive the car gently around town. Is this a record for a first service? Grim
  4. I have a Fiscon fitted to my Octavia and I work in Newcastle, but live in Northumberland. It might be too far away! I could not get the large socket to fit behind my Bolero head unit, in the end I simply cut the wires I needed and spliced them in. Drop me a line if your interested. Grim
  5. In the sport mode does your's go well into the red before changing up. The first few times were slightly worrying as I would have changed up much earlier. The 1.8 TSi engine in great isn't it!
  6. I fitted a fiscon kit to my MY10 Octavia. It was not too difficult to fit and works via both the Bolero head unit and after a quick (free) update from my Skoda dealer, via the controls on the steering wheel. It work brilliantly with my I-phone.
  7. I had a 7 pin set p fitted last month. It was using a relay, therefore the reversing sensors etc still work unlike a factory fit. It is a detatchable witter bar and cost me £330 at Autosounds in Newcastle. They did a vey neat job, the electric plug swings down from behind the bumper. When the tow bar is removed all you can see is the tiny loop for your safety wire. I use it for a bike rack also - the one I went for is the Atera Strada 3 from roofbox.co.uk. I am very impressed with the way it slides to allow access to the boot of the car.
  8. I have fitted a Fiscon plus to my MY11 Octavia L&K. I can confirm it works well and is easy to control via the Bolero head unit. I have not had it coded to the car yet, therefore it is not controlled via the steering wheel controls. One problem I had when fitting was using the supplied connectors, they just would not fit in the space available. In the end I simply soldered the wires into place - If I had done this in the first place it would have saved me 1.5 hours messing about trying to get the connectors into the space available. I placed the microphone at the top of the A pillar, I know that fitting it in the roof hole would be more discrete, but the sound into the mic is sometimes compromised up there. You soon do not notice the mic on the A pillar and it does pick up your voice very well. With regard the bluetooth on the Bolero display, this relates to sending music from you phone etc to be played via the head unit. My son got it working the other day and it sounded OK, but not a good a playing the music from the SD card - it does still need Fiscon or similar fitted! Grim
  9. I have just renewed my insurance. Skoda insurance was the cheapest at £255 including legal and only £100 XS. It might be worth giving them a try! Grim
  10. Hi I am a new Skoda owner who is looking to fit a Fiscon bluetooth kit to my brand new Octavia. Can you recomend me someone reliable who would be able to code my car once it is fitted? I live just outside of Newcastle upon Tyne, but am prepared to travel to get it done. My other option might be to get VCDS-Lite Release 1.0. and a lead if this would allow such changes to be made. Thanks Grim
