  1. My gf has the 75ps version. Does about 60% motorway driving but doesn't really exceed 70 and even goes over the pennines in it on the m62. She says it's adequate for that and has no problems overtaking slow moving vehicles. She did try the 1.2 TSI and loved it but sense had to prevail (15k miles pa). Gets about 58mpg on average but this week doing over 60 due to less traffic. Insurance is only £250 for the year which is way less than the 8 year old corsa we had before. If you're not going to do high mileage seriously consider the 1.2 TSI as it's far more fun.
  2. I reckon it could be 2 separate issues. I had my steering rack replace after the fourth visit to the dealer (don't ask) due to 'creaky' steering. But I still have a slight creak now and again when going over the speed bumps... Seems to be silent today though.
  3. I've just ordered mine prob from the same guy as you from ebay. Looks the same anyhow. I'll let you know how I get on but I'm connecting mine to an audience rather than the stream radio so it might not be so easy.
  4. I've got the audience unit and had little problem with it. Sound wise I don't think it sounds anywhere fantastic. An aftermarket solution would sound loads better I'm sure. If I could figure out how to turn the amp on with another HU I would be very tempted. If you turn the volume up a bit it makes the door trim rattle like crazy - think they should of installed some sound deadening in :-) I've got the MP3 tag info working correctly too, although the other day it said 'UNAVAILABLE' instead of the track name. This was cured by moving to another folder and back again - strange that one.
  5. I think your worrying over nothing. Like some folk have said people only tend to post if they have a problem. I must admit I've only got one minor niggle as that's a noise from the drivers door. But as I use the CD player most of the time I don't hear it unless it's turned off. Personally I think the audience CD is a fabulous player and with loads of options to tune to your needs. Sound wise it's not the best I've been in but then I'm used to very good aftermarket setups - and it's certainly not the worst i've heard either. The additional mid speaker also improves the sound over the standard stream setup. I've just started using MP3s now which gives me loads of hours play especially if you put 6CDs into the player. Oh, and that's the same colour I picked. I wasn't sure myself if I'd like it, but having washed it the other day with the sun beaming down it's awesome.
  6. I bought some leds from ultraleds a while ago but I wasn't impressed. It probably depends on what car you put them in but in my old Leon the original bulbs were alot brighter. Also, when lights were on in car the brake light bulbs didn't show much difference between the static light and when i was braking. I think alot of it depends on the reflecter behind the bulb. Some of the recent ones have leds on the side of the bulb to help but to me original bulbs are better. If you put the indicator ones in you'll need a resiter box thingy or the indicator module will think a bulb has blow and you'll get quick flashing indicators. Personally I'd stick with the ordinary bulbs.
  7. I'm in the same situation as Nick. Getting a company car; sold my own car that had some ICE installed. When I test drove an Octy ambient I personally thought the sound system was a bit lacklustre - it had the stream radio in it. BASS response was lacking punch, and muffled the overall sound if turned up too much. Treble response was ok and mid range lacking as well. The problem I think was the speaking placement now pointing directly at the seats, IMO they would of sounded better being placed more forward. Hopefully the sound upgrade I've ordered will be an improvement but I'll have to wait and see. I'm not expecting anything special though.
  8. Can definately recommend the Philips bulbs (50% brighter). Got mine from here: http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/
