  1. Hello Xenophon, Sorry to hear about the damage to your SM. I've just checked the parcel shelf on my Yeti and the cord ends are attached to large black rubber "stoppers". Maybe your local dealer could order them for you, although personally I'd either make large knots or use a suitable sized rubber washer. Good Luck.
  2. Hi looby, Thanks for the comprehensive reply, you sue know your oils! My Service Booklet recommends 502 for Fixed Service Intervals and 504 for Flexible. If I find that I am on Fixed, would it cause the engine any damage do you know, if I top up with 504? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for this info - the theory of only Flexible showing in the Maxidot computer goes out the window then! Notice you have a "mesh" grill - can you tell me where I could get one? Thanks again, David
  4. I'm off to Germany in the Yeti next month and thought I should carry a small can of oil to top up if necessary - its a 1.2 TSI DSG version. At a local Skoda dealer (not where I bought the car from) they asked if I was on Fixed or Flexible. I remember the sales man mentioning servicing when I collected the car but didn't take in what he said. I asked how I could find out and was told that if I went into the Maxidot display - Vehicle Status - if I had a distance and time showing this would prove I was on Flexible Service - if the Maxidot didn't give any figure, then I would be on Fixed. As it happened, I had 3000 miles and 61 days to the next service so I was sold oil for a Flexible service. Can anyone confirm this is the way to identify the service periods please? Thanks, David
  5. Thanks Macdemon - I don't quite understand why its just happened considering the bad Winter we had - didn't expect a leak in August!
  6. Another one to add to the list of leaking Yetis ! My Yeti was delivered in October 2010 and till now I've had no problems. However, like Levnco, my Yeti is parked on an incline with a slight tilt to the left. For the past few weeks when taking the dog for his last walk at night, I've noticed the inside of the windscreen was full of condensation, but really didn't think much of it. So this morning, when "hoovering" the inside of the car I was pretty shocked to notice the rear passenger footwell, behind the drivers seat was absolutely saturated! I can't say there has been any noticable smell, but the dampness was obviously causing the windscreen condensation at night. I immediately phoned Capitol Skoda in Newport and she's booked in for Tuesday. I've printed all the useful information I've found from this thread and will take this with me on Tuesday - thanks to everyone who contributed. I did a little experiment this evening with the hose pipe and noticed that the drainage flaps near the tailgate only allowed a trickle of water through, and yet when I opened them slightly a torrent flowed out! Hopefully this will be sorted on Tuesday but I'm afraid to snip the rubber flaps myself in case I invalidate the warranty. Thanks again to everyone.
  7. Hi Underworld, I had exactly the same problem with a Cardiff dealership last year. My Yeti Elegance kept getting delayed and I was eventually told that I would have to take what Part Ex they'd give me when the car arrived - which would be almost 10 months after order, and considerably less than the original figure. There were other problems at the garage with the Sales manager leaving etc, but although they at first assured me they would honour the Part Ex they soon changed their minds. I wrote and complained and was frankly shocked by the reply I received from the Directors of the garage - it was as if I was to blame for the whole debacle! All they wanted to do was give me my deposit back and for me to go away! I wrote to Skoda UK but had to joy from them either. I did walk away from that garage and eventually ordered my Yeti from a Newport dealer who were much better to deal with and they did honour the Part Ex deal although the car still had a delay in delivery. I think you probably will have to pay the £1k if you want the car ! As someone else has said its a sellers market with the Yeti - but as customers we should be entitled to good service and not be treated as though they are doing us a favour in selling us a Skoda car. I wish you luck.
  8. Hello Graham, The main roads are fine in Cardiff, its the residential estates that are a problem. I've had to leave my SM on a lay-by at The Llantrisant Road / Radyr roundabout tonight as I can't get up the hill to reach home in Danescourt, Llandaff. The length of road is too long to shovel it clear and although I've tried bits of carpet to get her going, there's no grip at all ! So my little baby is cold and alone tonight, although there are a few other cars keeping her company as Radyr side roads are also virtually impassable. Good Luck on Thursday, at least there's no more snow forecast !
  9. I would certainly have said YES if this option was available, as I've found the standard tyres on my 1.2 DSG 2WD absolutely hopeless in the current snow and ice. Of course. I don't expect great off road capability on a 2WD but when my neighbours are able to negotiate the steep windy hill to our cul-de-sac (which has thick packed snow) in a Skoda Fabia and Citroen C2, then I feel a bit peeved that I can't negotiate even the first quarter of the hill. The Skoda Yeti standard tyres are useless on anything other than tarmac. This is something Skoda should consider offering, particularly for a SUV type vehicle.
  10. I've had the same problem and the way I found around the problem is to pull the handbrake up a further notch. I haven't been pulling the brake up to the top as not to "stretch" the cable, but it seems if I don't pull it up sufficiently I can't get the key out. Maybe co-incidence, but it has worked for me. I thought it may have been some safety feature!
  11. My two week old Yeti is shod similarly to yours, and the tread, I must say, caused me a bit of concern too. I've also read that Skoda don't recommend the use of snow chains on this size tyre, and bearing in mind the quite steep and windy slope up to my house, if we get as much snow as we did last Winter, I can see my 2WD having a bit of a struggle! I'm even considering buying the Autosock in place of chains. I wonder if anyone has any experience of using these.
  12. Well Done! You'll probably have a lengthy wait for the sunroof, but it will be worth it. I like your choice of colour too, it really suits the Yeti. All you need now is a little patience!!
