  1. Thanks all. It's always been there - definitely wind noise. The car has now done 22,000 miles so not new any more. Rear blind always closed. It's more annoying in France with the higher cruising speed. I'll have another go with the dealer.
  2. I wonder if anybody else has noticed this. At speed (70 mph) I get quite a pronounced 'hiss' from somewhere around the rear passenger doors. As you go faster the hiss gets louder. Now I know 70 mph is the UK limit but I'm off to France in a few weeks and at about 80 mph (130 kmp/h, the French autoroute limit) it's getting quite loud. At lower speeds you don't get it and it seems worse in cross winds. I've asked the dealer to investigate and as usual they can't find anything!
  3. I too had a very similar issue on my Superb estate last summer. It started when I noticed that the front left footwell was damp. The dealer said it was a leaky windscreen - there is a Skoda service bulletin detailing problems with a windscreen seal if the windscreen has ever been replaced - mine hadn't, but they still insisted that this was the problem. They then said that they couldn't just remove the original windscreen because it had a chip right on the edge in the black band so a new windscreen had to be fitted. The chip was not visible from inside the car and no cracks had developed. Autoglass duly fitted a new screen and the Skoda dealer did whatever they had to do with the seal. It made no difference and even driving in the dry one could see a line of drips on the carpet. Back it went to the dealer and they agreed it was a problem still. It went in again and then they found the real cause of the problem - a twisted air con drain hose. The air con condensate was ending up in the car. Because of the amount of water in the car they had to strip out all the interior and centre console and replace all the carpets and underlay. They said they had never seen a car so wet on the inside. Now it's fine but the point remains that the windscreen was originally blamed and replaced for no real reason - it's a heated one so was quite expensive and the lines on the after-market replacement are not as fine as the original. It's a lease car so I didn't have to pay any windscreen excess or anything like that and I had a loan car - a battered old Octavia with 100,000 + miles! However somebody paid for an incompetent dealer...be very careful they are making a correct diagnosis.
  4. I've got water leaking into the front passenger foot-well - UK car so RHD. I took it in today and the dealer reckons its the windscreen leaking and that there is a technical bulletin about it. The car is a MY11 estate with a heated windscreen. I know water leaks are quite common but anybody heard of this one? To fix it they say they have to remove the windscreen and re-seal it somewhere. Only problem is that their glass person won't remove it because there is a chip right on the top edge. He is saying it will break when they remove it! The chip doesn't affect anything else as it is literally on he edge and in the black bit! Luckily it's a lease car so I don't have to worry about who finally pays but it could be an interesting one if it was my insurance or Skoda's warranty!
  5. It's briefly explained in the small supplementary manual with 2011 model year cars. It's just a message to say that the car has deadlocks i.e. once you lock the car it can't be unlocked by using an interior door handle. The exact message depends on whether the car has the maxidot display or not. To see the manual follow the documentation link at the top of the forum.
  6. Hi I do have a removable towbar fitted - the Skoda supplied one. It's a company car so was all fitted before I got it by the supplying dealer. Interesting others are reporting problems - when the towbar is fitted the whole bumper beam is replaced - the original was left in the boot on delivery. Presumably the bumper fits on to this - perhaps there is an alignment issue?
  7. Thanks for the replies - trip to dealer I think. I also notice it's marking the bumper at the bottom left of the tailgate so it must be touching.
  8. Hi I have a Superb Estate (Elegance) and the tailgate is hard to close. You have to really slam it hard and quickly get out of the way! If it doesn't quite shut first time you have to open it right up again - it's not possible to close it by pushing on it for the last bit. I was wondering if it is supposed to have the soft close feature as found on the twin door - this would seem sensible with a big and heavy tailgate. At the moment I regret not getting the electric option!
  9. Sorry for the confusion - I meant www.yourcarparts.co.uk
  10. I bought some mats from SimplyCarParts, going for the ultimate quality. I was disappointed with the thickness and am trying to send them back. They are an absolute nightmare to deal with. They insist that you get a returns number but their website doesn't work in that area and they don't respond to phone calls. I can't find their address. Eventually I managed to contact their MD by making a sales enquiry and he promised to send me the address. Now he won't and says follow the process on the web site! DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM - buy your mats somewhere else.
  11. Hi I have got a Superb Estate Elegance and the auto lights don't seem to be behaving as described in the manual. The lights will only come on if the wiper switch is in position 2 i.e. not using the rain sensor. If you rely on the rain sensor the lights never come on, even when the wipers are running all the time because it's heavy rain. Similarly the auto back wiper doesn't kick in unless the wiper switch is in position 2. The manual suggests that the auto lights should function when the wipers are used with the rain sensor - they certainly have on other cars I've owned (not Skodas). I've checked all the available Set-up parameters and nothing seems amiss. Is this something buried deep inside the VAGCOM s/ware?
  12. Hi I'm just about to order a Superb Estate and was wondering if anybody can tell me how the parcel shelf works with the electric boot option? In the brochure it says that it automatically retracts when the boot is open. Does it then automatically cover the load space again when the boot is closed or do you have to pull it across manually. Also how does the height adjustment work for how far it opens? I'd like the parcel shelf to be fully automatic as it is on the likes of the new BMW 5 series and E-class I've tried asking the local dealer and they don't know. Also E-mailed Skoda via their web site and no reply. Also rang Customer Services and they said they were just after sales and to go and ask the dealer!
