  1. Which Headunit are you using? You mentioned that the Canton sub will have a bass roll off, but if you have Canton the head unit only has an optical output to the amp?
  2. In UK maybe. In Norway I'm pretty sure this has been an options for a long time.
  3. You can safely remove the front bumper. The acc radar is attached to the bumper bracket and not to the plastic bumper
  4. You cant fit it yourself. The radar has component protection that has to be linked to the specific car to make it work If its out of alignment it wont work. I have tried. And ACC cant work as a regular CC, it works with the radar or dont work at all.
  5. I dont have any booming in my hatch, but the road noise is more than I like. I have tested 3 set of tires, Bridgestone, Tyfoon and Goodyear (all 18"), and there was no difference to my ears. But now I finally found a solution, and I have never been more happy of my Skoda, the ride, the power, the gearbox, the fuel consumption, and the quietness! What I have done? Bought and old Jeep Wrangler and used it for a couple of months. Now the Skoda sound, feels and drives like a new Bentley (or Rolls maybe) :-)
  6. Mine hasnt used a drop in the first 30k km. I did change the oil at 15k, and like flybynite, I did running it in, and do think that it matters
  7. An 8 ohm dual voice coil from JL is good news. But with a sensitivity at only 82 dB I'm afraid that the Canton sub will be to small. On the other hand; I dont know what sensitivity the Canton speakers in doors has, so maybe it will be a match after all
  8. My steering wheel has dsg paddles, but I really want to retrofit a heated steering wheel. Has anyone tried this yet?
  9. I do think I know. You can unplug the amp, remove he fuse or do what ever you want - it want make any difference in noise. I do have the Workshop manual with electric diagrams for the Canton system, and they cant make any active noise cancelation without several mics. I have worked with room acoustic and tested several system that work with the same principals in home theater setups, and as soon you have tried to measure sound with a mic you discover how difficult this is. If it hasnt been that difficult I am pretty sure all the premium car makers had this in more expensive cars several years ago. There ARE differences in car boom and noise between different Octavias, thats for sure. But no one has been able to conclude what the difference is, why some cars has cabin boom and some dont.
  10. The Vehicle noise cancellation is just a very fancy way to say that the Canton amp adjust volume according to vehicle speed. Something that has been in several cars and HU in 20 years. I dont think that you "spend serious money" for the Canton system. You get four two way speaker system, a center speaker and a micro "subwoofer", plus a ten channel amp and active crossover. Try to buy that from an another serious car stereo manufacture and see what it will cost. In my 2016 L&K its all about wheel noise. The engine are very quiet, no booming and very little wind noise.
  11. Yes thats true. Here in Norway we cant fill fuel between december and march. Thats why none of use either work or goes to school for three months every year.
  12. The standard seats in Octavia is very short, longer people will be better off with the sports/RS seats I believe. The 12-way electric seats in my Laurin & Klement gives a lot more adjustments, and for me that are short, it was the only Octavia seats I could sit in relatively comfortable. Automatic gearbox and adaptive cruise control makes it a lot easier - I dont use the pedals anyway :-) And the footrest for my left foot is very good.
  13. Just curious; which cars had this 40 years ago? It was not cheap cars like Skoda? After 32 years of driving and has own a lot of different cars (Audi, Ford, Citroen, Opel, Mercedes, Volvo, Cadillac, Fiat, Nissan), and none of them parked the wipers after switching of ignition. Maybe Jaguar, Bentley or Rolls Royce has this?
  14. Calls, messages, Spotify and some other music streaming services works well with Bluetooth. I have Columbus and has lossless files (Flac) on the internal harddrive, MP3's on memorycard and USB, 25+ channels on DAB and ability to play CD and DVD, so I dont use streaming services that much. I must admit that I have never understood why many dont fancy Skoda's navigation, I actually like it better than Google. Maybe Apple Carplay has better functionality than Android auto. When I bought my car the seller said that a hole lot of apps and stuff would be released before 2017 for Smartlink and Smartgate. I havent seen it yet..........
  15. I paid for Smartlink and Smartgate when I bought my car new in 2016, and dont use it. In my opinion it is just a sales gimmick. The only thing you need is Bluetooth
