  1. I recommend REVO via Northampton Motorsport Ltd 52 Rothersthorpe Crescent Northampton NN4 8JD More than happy and they fitted my pipewerx downpipe too. Have had three happy mates go there for remaps since, pm me if you're local and want to see the difference.
  2. Same thing here, used to be set on half temp religiously but now goes from quarter to below half.........had read something in past about a second temp regulator, cheap to fix........ as well as the thermostat and here searching .... But saw your post first.
  3. http://www.freefordradiocode.co.uk/skodakey.html Never tried it but..........
  4. I have literally just renewed my policy for a year via CSMA car care plan, cost £256 for 06 plate Octavia VRS Tfsi 78,000 miles Over the years I've made several hassle free claims and for example last years air con claim covered the outlay - and at more convenient time than "oh €@£K where am I going to find hundreds in January after Chrimbo!" Have a look and see if you or family members past or present jobs mean you can join, cheap PROMPT recovery - by local garages too. Beats 2 hour plus waiting times that you seem to get with the big two recovery agents. God reading this back I sound old!!!!
  5. I had a similar EXPENSIVE problem, engine management lights intermittent for couple of days then death, tow......fuel pump swap and so on, two days use........lights, death, tow.......but finally diagnosed as soggy shorted reversing sensor control box and suchlike under cd changer caused by water damage, electrical fault causing it all. Eventually found to be rear washer wipe hose leak........(partly via forum suggestions!)..... Only pouring water in boot when I used the rear washer, but kinda syphon effect each time. Water damage not covered on that warranty ;-( Hard to detect as some water squirted out, but more leaked inward....... And boot contents only wet at back...... Oh and I'm a clutterer! Was told routing of rear washer pipe lends itself to freezing, so i mix super strong screen wash in winter now in case that's true!
  6. Hi all, Have reviewed OLD posts on a subject that's been around forever! Here for advice on current options as sure the market and people's experiences have changed. Flexible part of downpipe has split, I now have a VRS tractor ;-) I have a Stage one map by Mike @ Motech Northants and no other modifications. Options from reading up?...... Pipewerx Hi flow cat/downpipe which I BELIEVE fits straight to my current standard rear system £470ish - From what i understand it is still MOT legal, lifetime warranty, not too noisy - current my top choice in my head................. Correct me if im wrong but from what ive read - low resistance cat/downpipe seems to give a good performance upgrade - with rear system negligible Repair - quoted £75 at VRS Northampton, also found pipewerx flexi coupler £22 ebay but not researched size or fit method yet (weld/clamp etc) Considered Magnex etc but above short listed???? Standard part ridiculous price £500-£800 as it contains CAT......and NO performance upgrade....no thanks! Milltek £1500ish as downpipe only fits their systems NOT standard rear system While I'm at it, if I do upgrade is air intake noticeable performance wise or just a nicety.....suggestions Hope you can help before I make a choice and get the bank card out!

  8. Similar problem here '06 Plate Petrol Octavia VRS and was making the VERY short drive home from work New Years Morning when the power cut, like a fuel issue as trying to acellerate made it worse. Pulled over, cut out then wouldn't start, and after several attempts I gave up - then suddenly thought "immobiliser" so locked and unlocked the car several times - it started fine and i drove home. However today I started it up, reversed of the driveway and ended up stranded sideways across the road !! Will not start at all (turns over but doesn't fire at all) Once ive had it looked at i'll post the result on here.
  9. Hi all, Thought i'd better stick to the tradition of saying hi in here first, before posting elsewhere. After snooping around on here (and in which magazine / driving a few Octavias previously) I've FINALLY ..... after ten months of looking around have found the right VRS for me. As a guide to other prospective buyers (see one from Northants too?!) I JUST picked up a 06 plate petrol saloon vrs, blue, with 18" alloys, reversing sensors, front/rear electric windows, spare full size alloy, 1 owner (family - mainly female driving), climate control (which ive yet to read up on how to use just normal blower vs air con actually on and therefore fuel down), 33,000 miles, only 3 month dealer warranty (but will extend via CSMA or AA) - ten months TAX and pretty much same MOT for £8,800. Was worth the wait seeing as local company is selling a petrol estate with 79,000 miles for £10,500. Interested to know the best PETROL remap, and stories of insurance costs/reliability/service issues after the remap (as well as the power increases actually received) Hope to talk to many of you soon !
