  1. Turns out it's my lucky day, the car has the correct plating despite never having had tow prep. Dealer also has a local contact they use to fit detachable bars, with specific electrics, for them so it can be done before I collect it, slightly cheaper than quotes I've had too.
  2. Actually, the first point is a fair one I'd neglected to consider, however from what I have read and can see there's no reason the VRS can't tow, except Skoda didn't put a number on a plate unless you gave them £190 or whatever tow bar prep was. It's one of those annoying 'computer says no' situations which may or may not have implications if ignored. To be fair that's what I was expecting, guess if this one isn't plated I'll be looking for another as don't fancy trying to fit all that on the Xpower, lol
  3. Hi, I'm about to uplift my 18 190 SEL to a 22 plate VRS, which doesn't have a factory bar. The dealer is telling 'it should be fine' and I've asked him to get a pic of the chassis plate - car is at a different branch so proving time consuming. I'd say, given the direction Skoda took, there's a 50/50 chance the max train weightn won't have a towing amount on it which gives me an issue. From what I've read the VRS needs no cooling upgrades etc and, despite a slightly different bumper, many have had towbar retrofitted though aftermarket as i believe Skoda refuse to retro the factory option on VRS full stop. The issue this this will never tow anything, it's for a bike rack and wouldn't exceed any axle weights- essentially it's just a platform. I don't really have alternative option due to 4 adult bikes needing lugging around (2 kids bikes go on roof bars). The best I can find is that apparently some fitters will fit one with the customer signing something equivalent to 'I'll never tow with it'........not seen any in the NW in the threads I've read. Am I in the 'find another car' bucket here or are there workable loop holes/workarounds?
  4. The socket is charging OK but I'll try full on factory reset and see.
  5. Hi, We've recently bought a 2018 Kodiaq SEL as a 2nd car, we had a new one in 2020 as our main car and Android Auto worked fine in that. Whatever I do in this 2018 I can't get it working. I've tried 2 different phones, many USB cables and absolutely no joy, plug in, press smart link and the Android auto/apple car play buttons appear but can't be pressed. Is it a case of the 2018 is too old to support latest Android OS or that the car needs a SW update (no suggestion in the car it does) or symptomatic of something else. I don't recall the 2020 car we had needing a special cable? Any ideas?
  6. Yep agree, had a chat dealer, has all the right stamps, looks honest enough car, dealer has good reviews. Just in a discussion with the wife over PCP ING a newer one.....to me as a 3rd car and runabout this bought cash makes much more sense. AA personal.cover is already in place and I could buy and replace 2 of these for the costs on a newer one. Hopefully will go and view later this week.
  7. Hi, Looking at purchasing the above, blue, Octy VRS as a 'runabout' now my Mrs Beetle convertible is being elevated to 'summer weekend' car and certainly will be hibernating in winter to extend its life (it's her pride and joy for some reason). Anyway we've had new mk1 and mk2 VRS in the past and it ticks all the boxes really as a fairly cheap option to keep our main family bus (23 plate XC90 T8) company. I ask as PG06 JWZ is up at a fairly local garage and seems to have a decent history with it, also it appears the owner was in the VRS owners club so figure a good chance they were on here to. Any info appreciated.
