  1. If someone would be concerned about the sound extras, then everything can be removed and put back as it was and price cut further, even though I think it would be pity to return back to cheap factory sound.
  2. No air con, last MOT was absolutely fine, no recommendation for the future. The only thing that needs to be done is the chaircoal canister after the valve was done but the service light came back again with the same code, however I've been using the car as my friend from Skoda told me that it doesn't need to be replaced. I am however prepared to sort that out with eventual buyer. I will try to make some pictures soon as my girlfriend comes back from the weekend and brings the car. yes I added the info later, thanks!

  5. I finally managed to fit the new front speakers and subwoofer into my Octavia II Estate I did not do it myself as it is a very precise job, where if you don't know exactly what you're doing, then you can cause a big damage to your beloved car. And I payed a bargain price for this job in Czech Republic, where I was on holiday last week. This is the part list: Amplifier Eyebrid T100.4 - £140 Front speakers Axton AC26 - £90 Subwoofer Axton AXB30 - £130 Front speakers lead wire 2x 2,5 qmm - £16 Subwoofer lead wire 2x 4 qmm - £5 Hi/LO adapter - £11 Desounding door sheets Zealum ZNBS-VPB - £80 Door speakers fitting rings - £18 Labour...£140 -------------- Overall...£612 From left: Power cables, Left front, Right front, Subwoofer Input from radio and a level settings buttons Unfortunately the Bolero is a bit of a let down as it doesn't have the RCA output, so we had to connect the subwoofer with the rear speakers output. It's a bit tricky to adjust it, but can manage with a little bit of playing around. Already planning to get the Zenec naviceiver, that should bring a new features as well
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I am realizing if I will have to replace the door speakers, that's quite a big job for getting just some semi quality speakers. I would rather invest more money to get amplifier and better speakers to get a full decent system. I hope it's still make sense without replacing the head unit? With this configuration, I would go for a passive sub if I get the amplifier, right? Can you suggest some good value amplifier, speakers and sub? I already got into speakers Morel Tempo 6 - 165 mm and amplifier Massive Audio NX4, but they might be not the latest offer on the market. I will keep researching.
  7. So the AUX input has some issue, changing the level to high causes the buzz even when nothing is plugged in. I got the memory card until I will visit the service the next time, so it can wait. Regarding the subwoofer, I've see someone saying the he has the Blaupunkt THb200A active sub under the seat. I got the connector schema for Bolero, but I will rather find someone to do the job for me as even I am a tech guy, there is still a high risk that I would damage the front panel while dismantling the Bolero. I want to make sure I have the right wires, according the http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/thb200a-speaker the cabling should be included: ------------------------------------------------------- Blaupunkt THb200A active subwoofer speaker key features The easiest way to more bass - amplifier and speaker in a box! Compatible with all types and makes of radio - accepts line level or speaker level inputs. Active subwoofer in compact enclosure. Ideally suited to under-seat mounting. 200mm drive unit powered by integral 140W max power amplifier. Bassreflex subwoofer box with internal 140W power amplifier Accepts line level (RCA) or speaker level inputs, so can be used with any model or type of radio Automatic switch on - speaker turns itself on when audio signal is sensed. Turns itself off after 60 seconds without signal present RMS power output 70W Frequency response 25 - 500Hz 200mm speaker with IPP membrane Phase switch (0 / 180 degree) Variable low-pass filter (80 - 120 Hz) Input gain control Dimensions 340L x 71H (max. 79) x 225W (mm) Includes 3m long cable harness for connecting power supply, earth and speaker inputs Complete with cable set, 10A fuse, fixing screws & bracket, full fitting and operating guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That sounds like a plug and play solution, will this fit to Bolero without buying any additional stuff like cabling etc? Can you recommend any other subwoofer? Also do you know some specialist for car audio in Surrey? More I'm using the car, I'm finding the quality of the sound worse, trebles are week and mids are rather terrible, so I would be looking to replace all speakers in the end.
  8. you right AUX connector is there, it's just the guy in Skoda who was selling me the car told me that it's for an earphones. However when I connected my BlackBerry, noticed a big buzz and music very unclear noised and unclear. I am going to test another wire. Hope it's no AUX wiring or issue with the radio. Regardnig subwoofer, I haven't found that much useful information for Bolero and sub. But I like the idea of an active subwoofer under the seat, wiring should not be that difficult, but can't find any service manual for Bolero, would someone have a link for Bolero, how to connect sub into it. Eventualy where to get connector and wires etc.? Thanks

I can see that radio has the AUX option in the menu, but don't see any input in the panel. Does it exist somewhere on the back panel of the radio and if so, is it difficult to wire it to the front? 2. Also would like to fit a subfoofer to the boot. Is it dificult to do the wiring? I think I should be rather looking for someone here in Surrey do it for me. 3. Can you recommend a good subwoofer suitable for Octavia Estate?
  10. Hi, I recently bought Skoda Fabia 1,4 16V 2002 and looking into buying diagnostic cable so I can do as much as I can on my car. I am confused as I can buy cheap cable for £25 or more expensive CAN version that goes over £200. My question: What can a CAN cable do extra when it costs so much more? I am looking into the one from Gendan, they offer it for £19. But I'd rather buy the CAN one in the case I'd have any issues with the cheap one. I read that some people had it stopped working after few minutes.. I am right if I suppose that the cheap one will be fine for my current car, but if I get the more recent car like Octavia 2 will need to buy the CAN cable or is there any version in the middle what would be working on both? I have laptop with Linux, is there any handy open source version or is it better to use the one for Windows with Wine? Cheers
  11. Thanks for an advice, I have another update, a new issue appeared. I will definitely visit the independent service center to get report I can trust and mainly know if it's safe to drive this car. But I have to wait till my pay day to do that. Unfortunately dash board started indicating another problem. ABS and Traction control lights both went ON last week while driving from work. I found out that it could be a fuse issue on the battery, but all fuses are fine. The next day both lights were still ON in the morning, but went OFF soon as the car moved. There is a pattern, every morning are both lights ON for a short while and every afternoon go back ON as soon as I the car is in motion. I suspect that the reason the lights turning ON is that the car is staying whole day on the sun, so something (sensors?) get overheated and would be signaling failure until it cools down, but it's just a theory from a computer guy; me who doesn't know so much about cars but how to drive them : ) I've tried to press ASR button and the Traction control light goes ON, is that by design? Also I am not sure if ABS light is supposed to be always ON or if it comes on just in the case of failure (that I suppose). It would be nice to get some service manual for a Fabia, would someone have some link eventually? I have to start learning the stuff so I can do myself as much as possible. Thanks EDIT: I found the user manual in the first post of this forum, so I know that all dashboard lights have warning function : )
