  1. Yep I thought I had the wrong bulb but fitted same as what came out - a twin filament stop and side light bulb, the pins are offset so will only insert and twist in one position. Will check earth point fo corrosion / bad fit etc. Trouble is, one would assume the whole cluster shares a common earth so as to make the wiring harness less complex and save money - yet all the other functions (indicator, reverse, fog, brake and other side light bulbs) are ok. thanks for the ideas chaps!!
  2. Excuse the spelling - my RF keyboard batteries seem to be on their way out lol!!
  3. Had the brake light go a few weeks ago so replaced it, checked it's operation and no problem. A little while later, I noticed the the upper side light elementhad blown on the bulb I'd recently replaced whilst the brale light was fine. Miffed at the lack of life of the offending bulb, I went to replace it again only to find that the sidelight element hadn't blown, just glowing bery dimly. Tried another bulb and still the same. Cgecked connections etc but couldn't find anything. Other side lamps are fine and the sidelight on the side in question was fine also whilst the brakelight had failed. Now the brake light is fine and the sidelight is the problem. Any ideas folks??
  4. Deffo the right hand stalk. I had mine done within 18 months of purchase and the dealer told me that they'd already done a good 10/15. I suspect Skoda will only replace on customer complaint rather than (say) during a routine service or alongside other warranty work.
  5. Good for a bunch of pot pourie (probably spelt wrong lol!!)
  6. A66 Yorkshire - well that explains it. check out : Pathetic Motorways: A66(M)
  7. Nope as I believe it is hardwired so the extra current draw may affect the original changers performance as it is sucking electricity from it or it may cause fuses to blow. Anyway the software wouldn't be able to determine which of the two is active as it was never designed to do such a thing. Plus there are only 6 cd select buttons.
  8. Only was to get control like that is with an Adaptive Cruise Control which maintains a (user) set distance from the vehicle in front using measured braking and acceleration to do this combined with a radar emitter behind the front grille. Fitted to most Jag Landrover products.
  9. Affects JUST the BBC stations? What sort of effect do you get with the DVD operating?
  10. I tend to get crosstalk from smaller stations around rushour time in the evenings. This only happens on BBC stations and not on local station. Must be something to do with the BBCs EON setup. As for your concern, sounds like a dodgy earth. More than likely bad earth between the body and the aerial base.
  11. Nav ECU, amp, phone module, TMC receiver to name but a few options.
  12. I believe it's a known issue. Father-in-laws had the same last year. replacement pack has been fine since. Don't forget to take spare key as well as the main key as they may need to reprogram them if they have to disconnect the battery.
  13. Probably not as the Skoda dealers seem to have their Renault heads on 100% of the time and Renault dealers are notoriously crap.
  14. Deffo a stalk problem. Mine acted exactly the same and (on this occasion) the dealer seemed to have a good ideat as to what it might be. replaced the LD cruise stalk and not a problem since!!
  15. Anyone know where I can get hold of a sunglasses holder? Local dealer lubricated it as it was ratcheting during opening an closing. since then, the hinge has cracked and fails to stay shut obscuring my rear view mirror. Dealer refuses to take responsibility as I'm convinced that the grease has reacted with the plastic making it brittle. Don't want to get one from dealer as I'm sure the price will be a rip off....any ideas people?
  16. I had hooks on both sides from new - could it be that you've got a mis build vehicle?
  17. I had Goodyear NCT5 fitted to my 16'' standard Elegance wheels. Got 25k from the fronts, and swapped rears to front when I replaced them. So far, the remaining tyres have covered nearly 40k. Ordered Avon ZZ3 from Blackcircles dot com to replace the fronts.
  18. Awww **** - egg on face FFS!!! Thanks for putting me right folks lol!!
  19. Sorry beg to differ - by pressing the lock button twice in quick succession activates the deadlock. Full alarm function is activated on the first press. I always press twice and each time the warning LED in the door casing flashes. Ahem...egg on face if I've got this **** about face lol!!
  20. It's the ultrasonic inhibitor to prevent the alarm going off if you wish to lock the car with a dog inside for example. The parimetric alarm will continue to operate normally.
  21. Looks like one complete casting to me IMHO
  22. The 2 main map encoders are Navteq and Teleatlas. Navteq have the upper hand in terms of accuracy in the UK. Maybe worth a peep at the Navteq website for any offers???
  23. Bloody hell chaps, wouldn't see me messing about with airbags. Dealers have to follow strict procedures to ensure there is no residual static around the technician which could detonate the charge. I know of a bloke who list a finger an a half when a passenger side air bag went off while he was working on it.
  24. I suppose just the lens as the bulb holde moulding is fine.
  25. Does anyone know where I can get a drivers side rear lamp for my Octy 2 at a reasonable cost?
