  1. Thanks for that post kentphil1 I need to replace my hub and that will give me a good head start
  2. I have been looking underneath my Octy vRS and it seems like there is some plastic undertray missing , roughly rectangular and covers the engine sump area, I have been told the vRS does not have this section fittted , is this true or have I been told wrong ? ............ thanks for any replies
  3. Just an update , the wheel bearing has been replaced and now all is quiet, just so surprised that the bearing was knackered in about 30k miles, no big potholes drove in or kerbs struck , the mechanic asked me if I had possibly driven through floodwater , no to that as well
  4. Just put my spare wheel on and run it for today , noise still there so looks like a quality bearing will have to be fitted
  5. The first set of bearings were replaced under warranty at my local Skoda dealer so hopefully they were fitted with a press not a hammer at around 15k , the next one NSF was changed at 37k by a moblie guy I trust and and have used for about 12yrs, it's the OSF that is suspect now . I have had a look today and cannot detect any noticable play getting hold of the wheel at 12 and 6 o clock and rocking the wheel , took the wheel off and found I can move the disc in relation to the hub due to the securing screw being a little loose and will not tighten as I think the countersunk boss on the screw has been worn , maybe been chattering , but the wheel will hold the disc tight anyway. also checked the rear wheel bearing OSR for play and nothing detected ........... dieselv6 may have a point , maybe I should swap the wheel front to back and see if the noise moves, I did have the wheels powder coated a few months ago but surely that would not cause anything ?
  6. My Octy vRS 05 reg only has 46k on it and it sounds like the wheel bearing on the front is on its way out, this will be the third knackered one in my ownership from new . I have been trying to convince myself it is tyre noise as the tyres are cold and outside temps are low causing more tyre roar, do I need a reality check and just face up to the fact it really is toast . I must say I have had the wheels up off the ground and both fronts when spun don't sound bad..................
  7. An AUDI R8 on a trackday , my Z4 3.0 is pretty quick too , drove a Holden Monaro in New Zealand but didn't really have chance to give it a good thrash.
  8. Anyone going to this years meet on 21st May
  9. Mine is an 05 VRS hatch in red bought in June
  10. I have a e36 M3 and really I prefer the VRS on the road , I am tempted to convert it to a track toy and that would mean ( among other things) removing the leather vader seats which are a pain as you slide all over on them during spirited cornering , my plans are on hold at the moment due to a lack of ££ , but the car is tucked up in the garage waiting for me to start ripping some weight out of it and otherwise prepping it up .
  11. A good day out and worth the 340mile round trip, especially as the promised crap weather did not appear that 27litre V12 Rover was worth seeing , pity it was not running though :( Anyone see the TVR Cerbera with the V8 Corvette motor
  12. Bugger !!........ mine has been doing the twang noise thing and I thought it was the spring , had a peep today and sure enough snapped just at the top . the car is 5yrs old and only 30k and I don't go fast over speed bumps either :(
  13. I have had my management light come on but when the independant garage plugged in their diagnostic machine they told me the error came up a water temp but then went away , when the diagnostic machine was unplugged the management light went off , it has now returned 3 weeks later , the temp gauge is bang on 90 degrees aftera a cold start and about five mins driving , should I just renew the sender anyway with a genuine part , thanks for any replies , ta
  14. I kow it sounds a bit simplistic but how about paper plates and plastic cutlery and keep ALL your stuff in your room, certain fast food outlets may "donate" cutlery
