  1. Hi All Having the same issue with my 02 Golf GTI. Had the engine management light on three times so far this year with both error codes. Car runs absolutely fine before and after the light comes on. My local VW specialist says his diagnostics do not go deep enough in the the 17545 problem and that if it persists I will have to take it to VW in Newbury. He did service the car last week when the light was on, it was a major service and he commented that the spark plugs didn't look good and my fuel filter was badly clogged up. Both the golf and the Octy VRS show the 17705 codes each time they are serviced but I had never had any of the other problems listed. Here's hoping it was the fuel filter.
  2. Thats what I am doing, gsf water pump, genuine belt, fitted at local independent.
  3. Yes thanks. Found one at GSF in Reading. I will pop in next week and get one. Many thanks for your help and advice. Darren
  4. Thats fightning. My car is five years old and has 27K on the clock. A metal impeller will be purchased now.
  5. Hi Sarah, Thanks for the info. What is your contact telephone number so that I can ring and order one? Thanks Darren
  6. Hi All Where can I buy a Graf 06A121011LIT water pump in the UK and how much are they? Cambelt is being changed at end of June and its either another plastic impeller pump or try to find the metal one. Does anyone know if the new plastic impeller pumps are more reliable than those at five years old? Thanks Darren
  7. Mine was just as useless until a few weeks ago. Cleaned the car and then cleaned the rear window, inside & out with Megs glass cleaner. While doing this I knocked the connectors for the rear screen. Wiggled each one just to make sure the contact was good. Ever since its worked a treat.
  8. Hi All, Looking to upgrade the wipers to the Bosch Areotwin upgrade kit, but would like to see some pics first. Anyone have any pics to post yet? Also does anyone know if there is an upgrade Kit for the rear wiper? Wiperblades .co.uk do not even list a standard blade for the rear of the car. Cheers
  9. This may sound like a strange question, but as this is a modification / upgrade, do you need to declare it to your insurance company??
  10. If you have more than one car, try Admirals Multicar policy. Both our cars were with Admiral anyway and the renewal for the Octy vRS was
  11. Cheers, I will give that a try. Even using the NXT Spray Wax I get streaks. It looks great from a distance but not good up close.
  12. Talking of Megs Tech Wax, Does anyone know why I get a streaking effect after using it? Am I doing something wrong? The car is a black magic Octy vRS. I don't polish round and round, so as not to add anymore swirls, just up and down. After buffing with megs towel you can see where I have gone up and down with the polish. It driving me nuts, any ideas??
  13. Just checked with my local dealer (Ashmore Green). They said bring it in before the trip and they will realign the lights for travelling abroad. They will then mark on the lens where the tape needs to go and realign for the UK. All I have to do they is stick tape on whilst on the Eurotunnel.
  14. Headley Tyres just outside Newbury on the Basingstoke Road. 205 / 50 R17's at
  15. Travelling to France in a few weeks and need to adjust the headlights. Consulted the manual and it says for non xenon headlights put tape on the wedge shaped area on the headlight. Only problem being that the headlght covers are just clear plastic with no markings. Anyone come across this and does anyone know exactly where the tape needs to be put?
  16. Had three BF Goodrich g-Force Profilers fitted to the Octy vRS two weeks ago. As per Johnmb's comments , very good tyre for the money and the car feels alot more secure on the road than on the old Dunlop SP3000's. Highly recommended and
  17. Expensive yes, And with two 1.8T VAG cars, both four years old, very expensive !! I am off the the dealers at lunchtime to get the service book stamped. I will quiz them about the cambelt change. Last week they still said 60,000 miles. Thanks for your help. Darren
  18. Thanks, that clears that up then. The only thing missing is the stamp in the log book then. I was aware of the cambelt change at four years. I posted several times over the past few months about the change in policy by VW as my Golf GTI, four years old has just had the belt changed. I will enquire with the dealer and get it done in a month or so.
  19. Invoice lists in capital letters: REPLACED BRAKE FLUID CHANGE According to my wife they rang her and said did she want the brake fluid changed. But as you can see from the parts listed on the invoice, only Brake cleaning fluid is listed at a cost of
  20. Its on Variable, QG1, 2 years or 20,000 miles. Last service was in July 2004. Service indicator came on at the beginning of June.
  21. Hi, Just had the 4 year 40,000 mile service done on my Octy vRS. On the service report they have ticked the 20,000 mile service box and then ticked all the boxes for all the checks. At the bottom they have put N/A against all the 40,000 mile additional checks, which appears to include replace the spark plugs. On the bill the following parts are listed: Filter x 1 Plug x 1 Screenwash x 1 Mobil ESP Variable x 5 Filter x 1 Brake cleaning fluid x 1 Specialist Lubricant x 1 Surely there should be spark plugs listed as being changed. The car has 20,800 miles on the clock but in my mind should still have had more done in a 40,000 mile service. Anyone know if anything else is missing from this list that you would have expected to be changed in a 40,000 mile service. Oh and they forgot to stamp to Service Book. Thanks, Darren
  22. Not sure whether the track test will tell us much about either car. Heres what they say: "Despite being three grand cheaper, the Skoda is built on the same chassis and has the exact same engine inside...but it is bigger. So which of these will lap our track at Anglesey quickest...backwards!" This would imply a test in reverse !!!! Not a great way to test two hot hatches!!
  23. On Fifth Gear tonight.... http://fifthgear.five.tv/jsp/5gmain.jsp?lnk=480 I wonder how many of us will enter this !!!
