  1. Mine is a mess too since I reversed over a bollard that let me over it but not back out. I have tried to locate some spare bits to put it all together again (and get rid of the duct tape that currently holds it all together)but these seem to be rarer than a dodo egg omlette. I have been told in the past that the main function is sound proofing and to act as a crap guard to stop the engine bay getting dirty. The good members on here suggested that you can run without them but I havent gotten round to taking it all off yet. Hope that helps. Johnno
  2. This happened to me recently. Had to replace the back of the key fob as it had broken. New one seemed a lot tighter than the old broken one. Upshot is the lock button sticks in when pressed and drained the battery pretty quickly. Next time you change the battery press the unlock button. Keep an eye on the red light it may flash continuously. If it does sticky button. I havent found a permanent cure yet but pressing the lock button a few times usually unsticks it. Key fob can be shielded with your hand or boddy to avoid locking the car if you need it open. Hope this helps.
  3. Relay 100 was indeed the culprit so thanks for the help. If anyone finds this thread later and needs to order one the order number is 4HO 951 253C for a MK2 octy (even skoda gave me the wrong info to start with) or 4HO 951 253A for the MK 1. Johnno
  4. Thanks for that I'll check that out when I get home from work. Was hoping it would be something simple like that and an easy fix. Ill let you know if it cured it. Johnno
  5. Hi Guys, Got a wierd one for you. Wipers, indicators and blower have stopped working on my 2002 Octavia 1.9 TDi. That is until I hear a quick buzzing (sounds electrical) in the dash and then all is fine until I stop the engine. The fault can last from a few seconds to a good few minutes (dangerous in the rain and frustrating for other road users) Im thinking a relay or short circuit somewhere. Anyone had anything similar or know of a fix?
  6. I get the same thing when cold starting runs fine the rest of the time. After reading this thread I now have something to work on. If nothing else its an excuse to change all the bits in a "just in case" matter, and of course it wont hurt. At least thats what I'm gonna tell SWMBO.
  7. True. But SWMBO wants a new bathroom first. Just out of sheer curiosity you understand how much and where from?
  8. The duct tape is doing a sterling job at the moment. I was thinking about a bit of fibre glass on the unseen side just to hold it all together. (underside of the bumper is cracked as well so thought that might do the trick) Obviously the more permanent fix would be to replace with new or used but they seem to be like rocking horse poo. I have posted a begging thread about this before and even with the wealth of knowledge available on Briskoda this one seems to evade even the most knowledgable. Oh well back to Google. There are only so many ways you can type in "octavia under engine splash guards/covers".
  9. I trashed mine a few weeks ago (left and right now held together with duct tape) but cant find any new or otherwise for a MK 1 octy TDI. I know some people are running without and just keep an eye on the engine bay (they are just splash guards after all). Might need to check it more often now the crappy weather is starting. If you or anyone else has any luck finding these parts please let me know. Johnno
  10. I think boomsly has hit the nail on the head there. They are the bits I need I think. If they are literally crap guards I'll take the broken ones off. Just wanted to keep it all tidy thats all. So if anyone has any of these I'll still want them
  11. Hi All, Anyone breaking a MK 1 octy or recently changed a front bumper and trims. Iv just had an argument with a lowerable bollard (didnt lower enough to reverse back over it ) and caught the underside of my front bumper on it. All damage is superficial luckily and all the bits and peices secured fine with a bit of black duct tape. However I am after a bit more of a permanent fix. The bits I am after are the little black underside trims either side that connect to the bumper and wheel arch. I think they only cover a gap rather than anything too structural. If anyone has any of these bits and bobs lying around I will happily take them off your hands for payment of course, or if anyone knows where I can get them from cheap (not breakers yards as there are none nearby) any help would be greatly appreciated. Hoping expentantly, Johnno
  12. Hi all, I have recently bought a Mk 1 Octy 1.9TDI elegance estate, and it is my first Skoda. I have owned VW's in the past (same car now I know). Since finding this forum I am now tempted to start saving some money and attempting my own repairs and stuff. I will be new to this as I have always had someone else look after the mechanics and repairs etc. So please look after me and bear with the stupid idiot questions I may throw on here every now and again. Ill obviously look for similar queries first so I'm not asking the same questions over and over. Thanks for your time in advance and look forward to any help I may get from you all. Johnno
  13. Just bought a 1.9 TDi Octavia on an 02 plate. Had it servficed by my mate so is running like a dream but the service warning keeps flashing. I know these can be reset manually so does anyone know how to? Or point me in the direction of a thread if it has already been posted.
