New Yeti to be 4.70 metres long!
hmibennett replied to scribble's topic in Skoda Kodiaq MKI (2017-2023)
Yes, I shall be in the market in 12 months or so for a 7-seater to replace my QQ+2 and would like to return to the Skoda fold. Don't want a huge vehicle, though: the 7 seats would be used only occasionally for grandchildren and the new Kia Carens looks very attractive size/equipment/price/warranty wise. -
Based on my experience, I would knock 5-10% off what the maxidot tells you.

Despite the (alleged) ability of police to pull in drivers who hog the middle lane while driving at 50-60 mph when lane 1 is empty, I find myself having to undertake such people more and more these days. I find it's a particular issue where there are 4 or more lanes, when lane 1 is almost always empty. Do some drivers feel it's a threat to their masculinity to be seen in lane 1?

Johann, I'm sure you will like much of the QQ. After almost 6 months with mine, my only gripe is the fierceness of the clutch which still leads me into occasional stalls when setting off. The Yeti was much more forgiving! I used the 7-seat facility for a week recently when daughter and family were visiting: despite the small(ish, 1.6) engine, very impressive on the steep Yorkshire hills with four adults and two children aboard, and the fuel economy only dipped from 53.5 to 52 overall.

I think that's the point. Now may be a good time to be getting some bargains on current model Yetis, but those who are not desperate to change now might be better to wait for Yeti II, when it will potentially be a completely different line-up of engines and transmission options.

First Impressions on returning to a Yeti... ...
hmibennett replied to Freshacre's topic in Skoda Yeti
There are still many things about my Yetis that I miss - I think George has picked up on most of them - but like domhnall I found 'economy' on the motorway pretty dreadful in both 2.0 diesel and 1.8 petrol versions that I owned, and I have found that, despite 'retirement', I now do more motorway driving than I thought I would, with grandchildren in Milton Keynes and another (well, on the way!) in Rotherham. My 1.6 diesel Qashqai, despite the smaller engine and (I would guess) heavier car, and also 4x4 like both Yetis, is much easier on the juice. Computer readouts used to give me about 47mpg overall in the diesel Yeti, 34mpg overall in the petrol yeti but 53+ in the Qashqai: quite a difference (and the insurance and road tax are significantly cheaper). Yes, I miss many of the Yeti's qualities (although the QQ has some compensatory features) and might well return to the fold IF Skoda produce a LWB version and IF the new engines are more economical AND lower tax-rated. -
Happened to mine a few years ago and lots of others since. A known problem - I always used to give them a firm push on before setting out whenever I remembered!

And remember, legislation only has any force when tested in the courts.

Try Fleabay - I got a perfectly good SD update card for my QQ from Russia (?) for £75 compared with a dealer price of £160.

Not necessarily. I work part-time as a Schools Adjudicator and when dealing with objections concerning school admission arrangements, for example, I have regard not only to primary legislation but also to the current Admissions Code, which itself makes requirements that may or may not be enshrined in legislation. Decisions I and colleagues take based on the Code, however, are legally binding and can only be challenged by judicial review in the High Court. I suspect the Highway Code would come into the same category.

Putting in my twopennorth as someone who recently switched from a Yeti to a Qashqai+2, while I liked the distinctive shape of the Yeti the massively better fuel consumption from the more aerodynamic QQ has been a real eye-opener (and wallet-saver) to me. Maybe the QQ's 1.6 diesel engine is more economical as well, although I would have thought the effort it has to make to drive a largish car would put it at a disadvantage to the 170 Yeti - but it appears not. So any Yeti II, for my money, has to address the fuel economy issue as well as appearance. If so, I would happily return to the fold.

Are raspberries blue in Winchester to reflect local political affiliations?

'Apart from that'?!!!! I would describe it as a scam, a fraud, whatever - trying to get money out of you for something unnecessary. No wonder motor dealers get a bad name. -
My wife took her Citigo in for service yesterday. Noticed when she got home that on the checksheet they had given a tyre-tread measurement for a spare wheel - and this is a spare-less car with the squirty gunk! It just makes me wonder how many other items were ticked without any actual check taking place?

This is a common issue, I think. My Yet-replacement Qashqai+2 was also proving a royal pain in the posterior when I tried to download the phone book from my Samsung S3 mini, until I noticed the 'accept' request on the phone. I had to 'accept' about 6 times and did not think anything was happening, but lo and behold suddenly all my contacts were there!
