  1. Good evening all - I have had a thought albeit inspired by the Top Gear, that this summer a few mates and I would have a limit £200 to buy an old banger (possibly estate - living quarters etc.) then travel to let's say Andorra - sell the car and any money we make on the car goes towards the cost of public transport back. The person who spends the least money, in traditional top gear style wins. But is it going to be straight forward to sell a UK car in Andorra... Does anybody know if it can be a case of straight swap of cash for car and V5C, then a letter to the DVLA when you get back saying you no longer own the car? Or is there a 'system' or 'process' that makes it near enough impossible. I've had a search about but can't seem to find anything. The country doesn't have to be Andorra it is just the whole length of France away!.. Anything challenging European country will do just fine.
  2. I would just like to add having worked at halfords on there amazing computer system (eVolve) it is often wrong for reg look-up (dont get me started on SOT looms haha)... it was (guessing it still is) very much a Work In Progress first gen kind of system to be able to instantly work out what stuff you need from your registration plate. It also gives a whole list of applicable oils including the halfords own brand so saying it ONLY "recommended" edge is basically rubbish - if you unsure i would just say you've forgotten your reg can he look it up manually and that tends to be more accurate. I always used to counter-check reg vs manual lookup as it pulls the info from different places.
  3. Cheers for your responses, yeah 6x9's aren't great but I like the oomph they have to offer that the 10's lack in the rear. Especially as sub's love to dominate what precious boot space I have, it seems a reasonable compromise haha I've changed the HU already to a Sony XAV-70bt, and next on the list is investing in some front speakers.
  4. Evening all, Have got some 6x9's and an amp lying about and have decided to fit them to the furb... I was pondering - what would be the best route; Can they fit in the rears where the small ones are? (i doubt it... :S thought i'd ask) Second to that - i saw grr's thread on creating a stealth shelf - is this really the best way to do it, or can i use existing shelf with mdf attached to the bottom? I live in a fairly okay area and they are yellow so i thought they may look grooooveh with the yellow on yellow? no :p Or is it best to just get a solid MDF shelf recarpet it and start from there? All opinions and options are welcomed. Andrew
  5. I would like to add a piccy of my girls for consideration; Taken in Lille France.
  6. In a word no! The furby is a really easy fit and no additional SOT leads are needed. The trickiest part will be trying to run the mic wire to where you want it I'd imagine and I'd reccommend mounting the screen in one of the blanks next to the ASR switch. As for the interface cables id either run them into the glovebox or down from under the heater switches into that compartment! But it's all down to choice and location Andrew
  7. I also use shell fuel save; funny you mention this as i too had the coil pack light and EML on after stopping at services and coming back to the car on a long trip... my first thoughts were oh uh bye bye power; welcome limp mode... but nothing the car drove exactly as normal (about 3/4 way through the tank) was on a long journey and had to put esso stuff and then the lights went out?? bit weird that ive just seen this... Just filled up with shell fuel save again so ill see if it happens again; its going in for a service next week anyway. Andrew
  8. 17.8MPG is amazingly impressive, what the hell are you doing?! I have been known to drive like a knob but I've never seen it below mid 30's on a reasonable journey and I always see at least 300 miles to a tank no matter what. :S
  9. Welcome! Isn't this what its meant to do? All the way down is one-touch to put the window all the way down/up in one touch. The midway setting is to move the window up/down and for it to stop when moving when the button is released. You can stop the window going all the way down down on the one-touch setting by pulling the button up half I think this is what you mean?? Andrew
  10. For what its worth . Same apart from im 19 and 2 years driving but price is roughly the same 990 for me though
  11. I asked the tonbridge guys how much they sold that yellow vrs.... 8 grand... god knows how that happened it was only an 07 with 40k on the clock... i would maybe just about pay that for an SE if it was mint.
  12. Nice I was a cycle specialist who got chucked on an IMI course so i never got that involved haha i let the bigger stores do the hard ones... Andrew
  13. It was diabolically priced and it was there for a fair few weeks, im picking up a facia adaptor from then tomorrow (today) so ill be cheeky and ask haha ill let you know Andrew
  14. Sounds stupid but I don't bother turning the heater on in the car other than 2 de-mist if needed and just have cold/cool air coming through the rest of the time, and I don't bother turning it on or going above 2k until its hit 90... usually by the time I've had my ciggie on a morn :p (Window is open anyway haha) Im seeing 55-60 MPG through the onboard computer and i'm not exactly going slow (50/60mph) on windy B roads... Might be because I don't have the heaters on but I never thought of it like that just thought it was pointless what with only cold air coming out and my window open anyway (Dunno if this helps you at all) I don't know about bunging up the grill, problem is engines heat up fast Andrew
  15. Agree'd I used to work @ halfords as an IMI fitter and just did my double din in my VRS took about 20 mins inc USB wire in glovebox and mic on A-pillar... The removal keys for the OEM HU sliced my fingers up though - probably got soft hands now i don't monkey about with cars as much hehe Andrew
