  1. Thanks to everyone involved with this tutorial. With no reference marks for the PIA stickers this is really useful. just done it.
  2. Congrats on the Suberb, Silver1011. I may be getting one myself soon - certainly within the next 12 months. The Mrs is going to have the Octy Scout if I can prise the Jeep keys out of her hand. So what is the definitive on the cam belt? 80K/4 years?
  3. Had my summer wheels on for a few weeks now. So glad I got the Proteus wheels refurbished & got rid of the polished look.

    Why?

It's happened to me to but I felt really sorry for a lad at work who bought himself a really nicely kept Jag. He came back to the car in a retail park car park to find parallel scratches on his boot. A fella told him a guy came out of Comet with a big boxed TV or somesuch & plonked it on his boot instead of the ground while he opened the back of his own car, then just dragged it off.
  5. I do high mileage & I clean mine every time I wash the car, rarely less than once a week. I make sure I hoick dead leaves out the wings in Autumn. First car I've done it on - I guess cos I like it so much. Takes 10 mins. I don't jet wash as it's never that bad but clean what I can reach & do the underside of the bonnet. I dress the plastics several times a year. I'm sure it's not necessary but makes me feel better & having a chavy private plate I get some satisfaction when mechanics think the car is a lot newer than it is. Sad.
  6. Have you tried going into the sound settings? You can mute the normal output & headphone outputs separately.
  7. Just bought some coolant from Horton's via ebay. Received with an unexpected freebie litre of Skoda Wash & Wax Shampoo RRP £5 Pleasant surprise!
  8. I couldn't believe I had to install itunes to put music on our lads ipod. Fortunately I have XP running on a virtual machine on my Ubuntu/Linux but not happy I can't just drag & drop. Looks like I have to have a bloody iphone through work soon too! Make Microsoft look like saints.
  9. Not as good as Casino Royale for me (great fight sequences) but best one yet for the Mrs. Bardem was more menacing in No Country for Old Men.
  10. If he's already been around the neighbours & and had a dialogue I guess it depends what was said & how it was left. That was the time to sort it out.
  11. We have a wood, glass & stone conservatory on our terrace house & I overheard a neighbour referring to it as an orangery. Still makes me chuckle. We do have a couples of lemon trees in there - nice for the G&T's! I've just put my summer wheels in the summer house shed.
  12. Grow a variety of oranges or lemons with big thorns for next time.
  13. I guess I'd have been really p'd off it I'd had it from new but I prefer the look of my refurbed powdercoat alloys to the polished look anyway.
  14. I was about to order some Mad assister's as the garage were going to fit them while they are doing another job on my car. Thought I'd better check with the insurance company (Tesco) first - they want a 25% hike on my premium! Anyone else had an increase? Or if insurance company didn't want an increase who are you with?
  15. Forms to transfer my RBS account to a Scottish branch have just arrived - be glad to escape the clutches of Santander when the English branches transfer to them.
  16. Our main PC - Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) with Virtualbox so I can run XP (for my Acrobat Standard) & 7 (cos it came with the PC) - runs all 3 at same time - why dual boot? Her Laptop - W7 at moment My Netbook - Linux Mint Old PC - XP Media Centre I don't like the OS/hardware tie-in with Apple.
  17. After creating the windows recovery disks I waxed my Asus netbook & installed Linux Mint. Nice & simple & even connects to my vodafone contract no problem. Speed is impressive. Comments from the windows geeks who seen it - '**** thats fast!'. I'd recommend Mint over Ubuntu currently for a Linux noob as it's GUI is closer to what you're used to than default Ubuntu. I've put Ubuntu on my Ma's Asus laptop as that took an age to boot up & was slow to run (vista) & she only uses email, intenet & word processing. She loves the speed & quickly got used to the different interface. You can then forget about OS bloating to a standstill, malware, defrags etc
  18. Re 8 above - One of my cards (Paypal Mastercard) gets the cash debited within minutes. I get an email notification the amounts been deducted. Asda, Post Office, petrol, wherever - all the same
  19. Aye, chasing late payers is a PIA. I don't have time for it hence spec'ing immediate payment for my BIN's - 99% of my sales. My comments were in reply to your statement 'you bid at the last second so pay up straight away muppets.' which I took to mean immediately
  20. 3 days is the unspoken rule unless the sellers spec otherwise. Sellers not leaving feedback first is bad practice. The only time it happens with me is when it gets really busy & I've not had chance to catch up on feedback. Getting the orders out is the priority. A seller can't neg a buyer anyhow but if the buyer does create problems the seller always has the facility to add comments to feedback already given or respond to negatives. Good sellers shouldn't be afraid of neg feedback. I've had a couple before which have now expired, one from a newbie who didn't think to enquire where his missing item was first & give an opportunity to put things right (things do go astray in the post) & a one irrate buyer who I believe had mental issues. In the end I was happy enough to just respond & let it be. I'm well known enough in my market for most folk to know any negs are likely to be unjustified & those that don't know me will see the vast amount of excellent positives. From ebay buyer FAQ: When should I pay? All sellers appreciate quick payment and most only dispatch after receiving payment, so it's good to pay as soon as you win or buy an item. You can pay by clicking the Pay now button in the email notification or in the listing. The seller will be paid and know to send your item immediately. Otherwise, we recommend paying within 3 days of the sale. Some sellers include information on when they expect to be paid in their listings.
  21. Isn't it great when folk throw around insults like that. I'd say the majority of people who bid at the last second aren't actually sat at their computers. I'm not - I use an automated bidding service which will bid in my absence - at the last second. I'll pay as soon as I can afterwards BUT it's not always straight away, often because I'm at work or in bed due to the time difference on international auctions. It's usually with 24 hours but certainly within the limits set by the seller. If I know I'm not going to be able to pay within those limits in the event that I win, due to being off the grid, I will clear it with the seller before I enter my bid, . On the rare occassion I sell something that's not BIN with immediate payment it's cool as long as folk pay within the specified time. 13 years on ebay, powerseller, 100% feedback.
  22. I only sell BIN & spec immediate payment. If I buy I may not be around when I win as I always use an automated bid system. I will pay within 24 hrs. My Mrs has issues with many of her non BIN auctions - has to chase a lot of buyers for payment.
  23. It's not that folk aren't interested - there's been a few threads on this already & most of what could have been said has been.
  24. Urgh -Didn't need reminding! Mine weren't as bad as that but a real shame they don't seem to have got to grips with this issue - or have they? Actually 2 of the wheels on my car were worse but the dealer changed them befoe I'd buy it.
  25. I've seen a rear diff on ebay from a scrapper Octy 4x4 - it has the haldex on it. Do they come together as a unit from VAG?
