  2. New Citigo driver here. Was surprised how peppy it is for 59bhp. Ideal size unless you carry tall people in the back for long distances.

  4. Yes - earlier engine was 8v and Skoda designed. Later went 16v with a few other changes. The latter may have a short life as it is being replaced by the 1.0 3cyl turbo in many applications e.g. Seat Attica. Then again VW is upsizing the 1.4 to 1.5 so they could reconsider the 1.2 - following the the 1.4 path with cylinder deactivation etc would presumably result in a 1.25 TSi with 125PS which could be sweet. More likely they will just ship a detuned 1.4...
  5. Is the dip beam adaptive too? If so mine might be defective - i.e. they are likely in the limp-home lowest dip setting as it is only showing 20m of lit road!   6. Looks like the 1.2TSi 110 will be a very short-lived engine! With 20% more capacity I'd be happy with it being updated to match the 1.0's efficiency - e.g. say 130PS, 210Nm... which would probably be a sweet spot for a Yeti!
  7. Don't forget the number plate / light board if you are getting a hanging-bike carrier that covers the car's numberplate though! Don't forget a small step ladder to assist with fiddling with bikes on a high Yeti's roof. And note that putting up a pro lightweight bike is going to be much easier than a 20Kg standard bike! I have to admit I took the expense and did the tow-hitch (from new) + park-on carrier with integral light board. Another alternative is to use a folding-bike like a Brompton - but they are an acquired taste! Good luck with the decision.

  11. Not sure if the jury is still out on EA288 warm up times for use for shorter journeys... but it might be OK. I understand the Nissan / Renault 1.5/1.6 diesels are also quicker to warm up. To remedy such heating concerns with the EA288, engineers integrated the exhaust manifold into the engine head, as they did with the EA211 gas engine. The EA288 head has its own cooling circuit controlled with valves. When the engine is cold, the head circuit is the most active, which allows the engine coolant to heat up swiftly, making it possible to warm the cabin faster. This also helps the engine get up to operating temperature more quickly, thus improving fuel efficiency.
  12. Not sure why car makers (or indeed dealers) are not paying attention to the need / desire for dashcams. Afterall they bother with reversing cameras, so the tech is not an issue. Perhaps once insurers offer discounts for dashcam equipped cars they'll wake up.

I would hazard a guess that the reason there is no warning light for when the Haldex fails is because Skoda / VW think there is no reason to give feedback: - if it isn't working you may or may not notice - if it is working then there is no problem - fault detection sensors and circuits can themselves fail On the other hand simply comparing wheel rotational speeds fore and aft (via the ABS sensors) would tell you (based on some time period eg 1-2 secs) whether you had wheels spinning one end but not the other. If the car found this happens a lot it could presumably tell you that: - 4WD: your Haldex is bust - 2WD: should have gone 4WD
  15. Gearbox seems more responsive - in theory S holds lower gears so pulling away into traffic at junctions you normally want minimum hesitation which means a lower gear than the box would normally select for economy. On the other hand if there is no traffic I use D...
  16. Just for the record - does not happen in my 1.2 DSG, which is smooth enough. Around town and setting off I often use the DSG in S mode, but that has nothing to do with vibration. Mind you I did find a different problem yesterday... light engine and Pirelli tyres meant zero traction up a muddy (ex grass) slope at a country show car park yesterday. Many thanks to the car park assistant who gave me a shove up the slope...

  18. Interesting. I can believe the Kodiak and Ateca are both *based on* the next gen Tiguan (i.e. MQB based). I can also believe they are closely related (a la Qashqai and X-trail, but maybe not as close as Qashqai and Qashqai+2 - reports seem to indicate the Ateca and Kodiak have different widths too). But I am surprised that the Yeti II is not the Ateca though, as the Yeti competes in the same Qashqai sector. I guess we'll see whether they use some other (Q2 platform?) or shrink the same platform even smaller for that...

  21. Some folks tow with the 1.2, so pretty sure the 1.4 TSi is not too bad (versus previous generation petrols at least). Not comparable to a diesel's torque of course (as I think you pointed out in the past). The new VW engines are meant to be 1.5Tsi s so that might be even better (if/when it makes it to Yeti2 or this). I do like the size of this Seat and it bodes well for Yeti2.

As near as damn the Yeti and Juke are in the same roadspace / market. Except one appeals to those with poor taste
  24. Congrats - I like the DAB option and find it works well. Yes, it's overpriced (vs cost to Skoda) but all options are profit-enhancers. If negotiating with / buying from a dealer you could ask them to throw in the extra 12-speaker option to make it a reasonable value option!
