  1. Hi, Our 2012 vRS is still going strong having just gone through its annual service and MOT, but the entertainment system is letting it down. In the past I considered adding the Bluetooth module and also considered an Amundsen off of ebay. I've been looking at various head units on eBay that tend to be Android and are a straight swap in terms of size. They appear to be pretty feature rich and a convenient way to add Bluetooth, sat nav, apple car play and moving over to digital radio would be also be good. Would be really interested if anyone has swapped over to something else? Experience? Did it need to be coded? Just worried to swap over to something unproven! Thanks
  2. On the my tyres site I’m struggling to get the 205/50/17 tyres on those rims and see a price - wanted to see how much it would be with the continental ts830
  3. Thanks Carlton. was just searching around and saw the Kodiaq option - seems Skoda also do genuine part steels in that size 5QF 601 027 03C
  4. Thanks for all the replies - really useful. might sound a bit strange but all wondering if just a set of steel wheels wouldn’t be a bad idea - just thinking they probably take a lot of abuse and cheaper to replace if they get damaged. The 17" Terons in winter with standard-size 225/50 mentioned by flybynite sound alright. Could I get a set of steels in this size?
  5. So last night driving in the dark on a country road and hit the biggest pothole ever - massive bang, pressure sensor warning and puncture within about 5 seconds. Garage inflated the tyre this morning and big hole in the inside sidewall - so no option but a new tyre. With so many potholes on poor country roads - I'm now worried about the unforgiving 19" Xtremes on the 245 challenge...........maybe I'd be safer with alternative alloys or even a set of steels I had a spare set of wheels and winters on my old Octavia 2 - but a bit clueless with the new one running these 19". On my old VRS 2, I basically got VAG wheels with the same specs as my 16" spare wheel so felt happy with the caliper clearance etc. So.............any advice appreciated................is there anyone out there with a 245 Challenge running winter wheels tyres? Are people dropping down to 18" or 17's? Not so worried about tyre choice..............it's more what wheel sizes/options are there? Ideally don't want top spend a fortune but maybe being a bit proactive may help protect the xtremes!
  6. It's not my car, but with a Corrida Red Challenge on order I was interested to see proper pictures of an actual Challenge model - electric seats and black tail pipes being tell tail signs
  7. Same here DSG, which I'm led to believe there are no issues with. Manual is looking strange, you can't get a build date until October and now they have gone stock only - so I'd be worried if I had a manual on order
  8. Hello mate........how come you decided to get rid of the MKII? My one is working out fine, quite like the look of the new one now it's grown on me but could not stomach the price difference
  9. Luckily I'll be down South anyway so not a journey specially for it...............we live in the country..........proper morning 'postie's here'
  10. Post arrived this morning..........two tickets to the 'Thursday' at Goodwood with the promise of vRS gifts and light refreshments! Result
  11. In case you've not seen them, Autoexpress has an article with some pics: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/superb/63390/2013-skoda-superb
  12. Personally I'd wait, however you may have problems with the dealer. They seem to under some sort of obligation or bonus agreement to get the cars registered within so many days of delivery (think it was 14 but someone will correct me if not). I know quite a few people have come up against this issue on here.
  13. Sorry probably confused things. By the looks of your picture I thought the symbol opposite the L and R looked right the icon for the fold mirrors rather than the one for heated mirrors. I assume your mirrors heat up rather than fold.
  14. I recognise that switch as I've been in a vRS out in Slovakia - it's actually the version for the electric folding mirrors - sadly an option we have never got over here. Have you flipped the switch round and tried it? Just thinking what a bonus if you've got the electric folding mirrors as they are probably reaching the bottom of the parts bins Dougall
  15. Yep.......Ugly. Hopefully they tweak it a bit before release. Looks like it's got a full length sunroof
  16. Guys - Just been reading your comments about the oil temperature display. I looked into this issue for ages........so here goes: I've got a 2012 Vrs and on delivery I got it changed from variable servicing to fixed which resulted in my oil temperature display just displaying "---" Basically when they change servicing from variable to fixed, it turns the oil temperature sensor off by default. However once they do this they can just click a box and turn it back on again. So I'm on fixed servicing with oil temperature displaying correctly. I just gave the following collation of advice from this site on a printed bit of paper to my dealer and they worked it out without an issue: Needs turning on with diagnostic, it's in the self diag menu, looking for TOG to be on. Sometimes gets turned off if the service schedule is set to fixed on PDi. All cars come from factory set to QG1 (that can run on long life anyhow). If you want it changed to fixed (QG2) the test plan to do so turns off the oil sensor, it can be turned back on so it's no problem. Some technicians don't realise it has done it so the oil temperature doesn’t display on maxi-dot. All cars have the sensor, but if the car was set to fixed service VAS will set the oil sensor to off if programmed via GFF on some engines, caught me out a few times. You can set to QG0 10k servicing and turn the oil sensor (TOG) on in dash panel.
  17. Should also add - part of me thinks how stupid I am for parking in corners of car parks where hardly anyone parks and it's easier to break-in or rob your car. I still park carefully - but maybe need to re-adjust in light of this
  18. I'd love to lie and say yes I got the registration but I didn't! I was angry when I thought it was some **** who could have parked elsewhere, when I realised what was going on I went into "I need to get the hell out of here" mode. Three guys, one of me and I'm thinking I have the keys which will make their job easier. I literally jumped on the phone to my mate so when I got to my car I was speaking to him, they backed off and I jumped in and got the hell out of there. I'm not a small guy, but three of them, could have ended very differently...........It happend that quick I didn't even think about their reg number
  19. I'm also all of the above However last Sunday I had a near miss, parked in the far corner of a car park as didn't have the kids with me for a child bay and it was busy so didn't want to take up two bays. Came out the shop and noticed from quite a distance that a crappy low loader was blocking the view of my car. At first I thought bloody typical I'll be checking my doors for dinks, then I spotted two guys beside my car and one being a look out. I managed to get my car out of it before they did anything but me thinks if I was a few minutes later I'd have no vRS! So moral of the story, I like parking my car away from everyone else but security can be an issue!
  20. Here goes: Last weekend I took off my vRS alloys and put on my winter wheels. They are 16" and the same spec as the spare wheel, this is the 3rd winter I've used them as used them on my old Octavia. All week I've had an annoying squeak since changing them. It's difficult to tell where its coming from, guessing wheels/suspension and does seem to be worse on bumpy roads. I didn't touch the pads, cleaned nothing........basically just wheel off and wheel on. Any ideas? Would the suspension sit differently on the smaller wheels? How about the bigger tyre side wall being a softer ride? More movement? And before anyone says it I don't think it's a mouse living in my wheel arch! Dougall
  21. Got my Skoda ones today via the main dealer, they are not branded with the Skoda logos. They are the ones shown in the picture on the skodashop.co.uk link as above. They are still good but not the same as the ones Fubar has got in NL.
  22. A great garage that I can't recommend highly enough. A great bunch of people who are knowledgeable and know Skoda's like the back of their hand. When the only other option is Specialist Cars in Aberdeen, I'm so pleased we still have an independent garage who can't be compared to a main dealer in anyway. They maintained my Elegance and swapped out the turbo when it went suffered from the dreaded sticky vanes, they'll now be getting my new vRS which I'm more than happy with Dougall
  23. I've ordered the wheel covers as above from my local dealer, due in tomorrow so will be interesting to see if they are the same as the ones Fubar has got. I'm putting on my winter wheels at the weekend so this is really good timing Dougall
