  1. Hey guys, so my car has just all of a sudden started to have a very bouncy, springy ride. Also when I finished a journey this morning there was a slight hissing sound coming from o/s rear shock and I can see some light misting of oil. Theres also an occasional knocking noise from what sounds like n/s rear when I go over humps or pot holes. Anyone know what these are likely to be and if its an easy fix for home diy or if its really a garage job? Cheers
  2. Cheers breezy pete just to let you know I did the spark plugs today, already had a set I was planning on doing next service and its all good again, not bad for an 05 motor with 160k+ miles on the clock, been the best car ive ever had, it refuses to die πŸ˜‚
  3. Thanks breezy also just to add wasnt just misfiring, was also kinda limp home on last journey max speed of 20mph with very chuggy acceleration. If I rev out of gear it sounds clean and not misfiring. I have a new set of spark plugs somewhere and its due an oil change so might give it a bit of a service. Cheers for ya help
  4. Update to say petrol tank is 3/4 full and fault codes are: P0303 P0420 Also noticed slightly lumpy idle so misfiring at idle also Cheers
  5. Hey guys, I got a manual 1.2 htp petrol. Lots of problem free motoring. Today though its just started misfiring, and when it was misfiring the emissions light was flashing. It still starts first time everytime and doesnt stall or have a rough idle, it just missfires under acceleration (very jerky). I might try to read the fault codes tomorrow, but wanted to see if theres any common things to look out for. Could it be spark plugs need changing or something worked loose? This started today on the morning journey and was there on the afternoon journey, so its had 2x long runs and a rest in between, so I feel like this is a new problem that needs sorting, any pointers on what its likely to be? Cheers for any help
  6. Thanks for your help guys, just to let you know I ordered through carparts4less in the end, the parts were the same price but they had an active discount code, so it was much cheaper in the end for the same items
  7. Can anyone shed any light on the briskoda ecp discount code please? Has it been discontinued? Is anyone aware of any working codes? Thanks
  8. I've never had to do it, but seeing as no ones replied yet i thought Id try to offer some help, I'm fairly certain you have to remove the front undertray and get at the bulbs from under the vehicle, hope it helps
  9. Hey, sorry if in wrong place (mod feel free to move), just looking for the current briskoda discount code for euro car parts please? The code I had previously doesn’t appear to be working, feel free to pm me if it's not supposed to be general public knowledge (i wont post it anywhere else, just ordering my service parts), much appreciated!!
  10. The front fogs can have the beam level adjusted and they can actually be really useful when set properly. They are usually set to min from the factory (mine was) and light up only the first 0-3 meters in front of the car. If set to max they will bridge the gap between dipped main beam, still low enough to be useful in fog but actually at a point on the road within the drivers vision. If I recall it was a simple diy adjustment by the screw at the front accessed behind the plastic surround which pulls out, obviously once the beam is raised be extra careful about only using them in foggy weather as it's easier to dazzle oncoming drivers...
  11. Thanks, im glad its not losing any fluids or oil. Is there anything to worry about if the pipe is a bit black oily then? I haven't noticed loss of brake pressure or lumpy idle. The pipe is cable tied on and secure.
  12. Sorry to bring this thread up again, just checked the pipe today and found it coated in a black oily substance. I'm guessing it may now be a slight leak but thought brake fluid is a different colour. What goes through this pipe please? Is it a car fluid? Or exhaust gases? Thanks
  13. Hey y'all, haven't been on here for a while, still got my mk1 and its been a great motor. Up until now it's been driving perfectly, then it started getting a knocking noise which its had for a while, I've had drive shaft replaced. Knocking noise is now gone, but it now has a lumpy idle (going between about 1000-1500rpm) and EPC light is on and brake performance isnt what it was, its like the old days before abs/ebd, you need to use a heck of a lot more force to get the same braking performance. Its got 3 fault codes: P2101 throttle actuator control motor circuit range/performance P0171 system too lean (Bank 1) P0106 manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure circuit range/performance problem Please can any of you kind peeps translate that into what is likely causing the problem? Many thanks in advance! Edited to add was serviced recently (air filter, oil filter, oil etc), and all fluids are at max (coolant, pas, brake, oil etc). The last mot reported that the front exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases flexi pipe, could this be related to the lumpy idle and epc light?
