  1. Advice...if you want quiet buy something else. My Octavia is bloody loud and always has been. I've tried all the above, Tyres (different brands) Hunter Alignment etc etc. But it was still much noiser than the Mrs old Astra H (MY07). Now compared to her new Merc ML with Air Suspension I actually dread diving the Octy after driving that for a bit. At Motorway speeds the Merc is near silent, the Octy.....LOUD.
  2. The OEM ones are much tighter than Vanstyle ones, sometimes you can get sag on the Vanstyle ones.
  3. This is so True. The Mrs had an Astra H and that was much quieter than the Octy. She now has a Merc ML on the Optional Air Suspension... The noise difference to my Octy is HUGE!. Mine is like someone has put my head next to a car tyre doing 70mph!
  4. This is the answer! for anyone with condensation issues
  5. Suffered wet windscreen for 4 years. Air con off in winter....problem sorted. Still use on journeys to demist but don't leave on especially on journey end and start up. The system doesn't dispose of used dirty air/water well enough and pumps it out through the vents on start up when the air con is on. All.my other cars I've always left air con on in winter but not this one.
  6. I find if I leave my car running 24/7 it doesn't suffer from condensation lol. But yeah some of them in the boot area works a treat too as we all know the Octavia loves dumping water in the boot (hatch owners only)
  7. Honestly on the Skoda system its far better off in the winter. The amount of moisture it pumps out on start up is a joke. Try it without you won't go back, I haven't for the last 2 years. All my other cars have always had air con on over the winter without steaming up but this Skoda system is poor, its been documented that the system doesn't dispose of the waste water gathered from using the air con sufficiently enough to have clean air on start up.
  8. Just persist without it on for a while, just on econ on start up.
  9. As TsvRS stated just turn off the air con to econ. The system collects moisture for some reason and on start up spews it out resulting in foggy windows, especially the front one. My Octavia was really bad for 3.5 years to the point I thought about getting rid. Then I came across a post on here about turning the air con off (never done this in any other car) and blow me down its been perfect since! If the car does start to mist up once warmed up I do still use the air con to clear it but try to switch back to econ at the end of the journey.
  10. Had mine made thicker, so although its the same size its much thicker in hand.
  11. See this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/310595-octavia-mk3-vrs-gear-shifterknob-on-vrs-mk2/ About halfway down, get the original re-trimmed by royal steering wheels, makes a huge difference.
  12. You can't use the Mk3 gaitor...It doesn't have enough of it's cheap vinyl material to stretch anywhere near the Mk2 hole, and that's before you change gear and need additional material. Plus once you've seen a Mk3 gaitor/boot you wouldn't put it near your car....soooooooooooooooo cheap!
  13. Look at the 0-100mph figure, under 10 secs!, for a car costing less than 30K or £250 a month
  14. I put a new VRS one on my mk2 a while back with the pics on here. It fits fine. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/310595-octavia-mk3-vrs-gear-shifterknob-on-vrs-mk2/
  15. I put a new VRS one on my mk2 a while back with the pics on here. It fits fine.
  16. http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/225-40-r18-92y-241189 They have local fitting centres to choose from too. Very cheap. Some great tyres for £80-£95
  17. Its the mileage on these deals. They know the car will command a great price come hand in if below 16k miles after 2 years.
  18. Its the same as the post linked in £174 + VAT. Or here at the end of this thread http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=290215&page=34
  19. The latest cheap deal was £174.99 with 6 down as deposit, + VAT for personal. 24month deal, only 5k mileage though at that price.
  20. S3 and mk7 R's are getting about 370bhp stage 1! Torque steer could be an issue, not sure how the electronic diff copes. The PP package on the Golf would see it right though. But you could always throw 1.5k down for a fitted LSD.
  21. Here's the link http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/313149-sponsor-tuning-the-new-20t-octy/ They are IHI turbos in the mk7 Golf Mk3 Octy. Gone are the KO's, not sure about the R or the Leon Cupra 280, may still use KO4
  22. If you want to move on to a mk3 VRS... APR remap, stage 1: 320bhp! TUV approved figures. I think Shark are getting similar results. Stage 2 map, +downpipe and intake: 344bhp.
  23. APR's claims are TUV approved, so all you MK3 TSI owning peeps are very lucky. What would of cost £2K+ on a MK2 and involve lots of hardwear changes can be done with just software on the MK3.
  24. Still need a before and after on the same rollers. That's the only way to see reliable gains in bho etc.
