  1. Car is being stripped down to assess the damage. There's a delay due to SKODA being unwilling to countenance any contribution towards the repair. The car was serviced, to Skoda recommended service intervals in an independent BOSCH accredited workshop. Due to this SKODA are trying to wrangle out of their obligations. I pointed out to them how ironic the problem has occurred due to the only piece of work done to the car in a SKODA garage.
  2. I'm guessing the alternator belt gave way and got dragged into the timing belt/tensioner and then all hell broke loose. No feedback from the strip-down of the engine, yet.
  3. It's a leased car and the issue is now being debated between SKODA and the Lease company. Ironic, I get the AWD primarily because I live on the top of a North facing hill and the belt snaps the week before we have Winter forecasted to arrive, in a big way.
  4. Double post (in a way), but the timing belt went in my car last night with 120,000km on the clock (approx 75k miles).
  5. Well, my car, 2011 CR170 4x4 Combi, shed its timing belt last night. I have 120,000km on the car with the belt having been replaced not so long ago when SKODA changed the water pump under warranty. Now, time to grab some popcorn, and look at the battle between Leasing Co and Skoda.
  6. It's not. I verified it. It's a company car and will be ordered in the next couple of weeks.
  7. How is it "...more money for a lot less kit." ?
  8. No thanks, I have one already and will not get the same car twice. FL version would be just about tolerable, simply because the CR170 is now only available with the DSG box. I disagree on the aesthetics, I think the FL front end is better looking.
  9. I don't know. As things stand I will be leaving the Skoda family and placing an order for a new Volvo. I'm less than impressed with the Skoda communications and way of doing business.
  10. Anyone in the UK able to tell me if there are any known issues with the FL Combi 4x4 CR170 delivery? Skoda Ireland, apparently, will not get any until March 2014
  11. Doesn't the new twindoor have a different mechanism?
  12. There cannot be much to it if it's a £200 option
  13. Freudian slip there? L&K, methinks!
  14. Purely speculative at this stage. Let's wait and see? I have no interest in 7-seater cars. (any more)
  15. I have over 100,000km on my 4x4 and it's a great piece of kit. I got the car in January 2011 and it has hardly seen snow since. (Ireland). In 2010 we had 8 weeks of snow, there's always a chance we'll get another long spell. That said, the 4x4 system is useful 52 weeks of the year. If you are an "enthusiastic" driver, and like to push the car on a bit, then you will get full advantage of the 4x4 system. If you are not that way inclined then you will only get the advantages on frosty/snowy roads.
  16. At this stage I have zero interest in anything you post. It shows a very poor picture of you. As for this thread? Deceit? You really need to get out more, live a little and worry about things that are actually important.
  17. What's your point? Do you want to denigrate the OP? Is it one-upmanship? What will you get out of all of this? Satisfaction? Your comments tell a hell of a lot about you. And it's far from pleasant. Please, do us all a favour, and stay away. If you've nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut.
  18. Winner of the pointless post of the day, sir! Better to keep one's mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove any doubt! Eh?
  19. The FL is the same shape "bud". The no of owners will not affect resale (in a few years), given it is purely a dealer pre-reg. The value will totally depend on how it is used/maintained.
  20. That's a good deal, OP, and, remember, when you go to change your car will be one of the newest CR170 4x4 manuals. There's bound to be a strong market for a manual 4x4. If you're happy with the deal, go for it. You'll always get some smart-ar5e who will tell you you can do better.
  21. Thanks Lee. I currently have "Mocha Brown", and am looking at, hopefully, a new CR170CR Combi DSG in January. What are the blues like in Combi? Or the White? Should it be spec'd with privacy glass?
  22. Anyone any indication of the colours available in the new Superb? Any new colours?
  23. As an Irishman, that video review is hideous!!!! The reviewer looked pretty rough, like the Skoda hospitality was well used.
  24. I don't know about the UK but, in Ireland, when I spec out an Octavia Elegance to the same level of kit as a Superb the price difference is negligible. Octavia Elegance doesn't have, for example, the Xenon lights, Leather upholstery, Columbus Sat Nav, cornering lights etc, etc
