  1. That's about where my 2007 Octavia Scout was. OK, but 200mm+ is better for my circumstances. Still, better than I thought, might be worth a look. What chance a Scout version?......
  2. Might be back in the Skoda fold if I can get an answer to this question...... Anyone know what the ground clearance will be on the Enyaq? ID.4 is allegedly 210mm which is around where I need it be for my job (one the reasons the previous Octavia 4x4 was swapped for an Outback). Can't find a figure online for the Enyaq (which I prefer the 'look' of). Any info welcome! Thanks, Niall
  3. Boom, and the change is done! A new experience after 12 years with one brand. Sold the Octy privately so washed its face enough to get set up with Winter Wheels for the Subaru with the 'equity'............ I may be back some day, Niall
  4. Given my mileage it had to the be the diesel, and given my love of tech it had to be the CVT with Eyesight. Test drove one and don't understand the literal bad press the transmission/the car gets from UK motoring hacks. But I guess I'm looking for an offroad Estate to go offroad with, rather than something to pose around the home counties with and measure dynamically against a track car. Very smooth, quiet, still more than fast enough and I'm confident that with a bit more time together I'll learn how to drive it properly rather than simply noticing the differences with a manual transmission (this'll be my first auto)
  5. Joining in this party after Mk 1 Elegance, Mk 2 Scout and Mk 3 4x4 over 12 yrs. The PCP residuals experience has soured my feelings on going for a Mk3 Scout (the car I really wanted but at the time but wasn't available). As they say insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting(hoping) for a different result! Off to see what all of America and Australia is raving about and get a nearly new Subaru Outback in loaded to the gills SE Premium spec with still 4 years of warranty ahead of it. Can't wait. Just the O3 to sell privately. Shame, this has been one of the friendliest forums I've ever had the privilege to read and occasionally contribute. Niall
  6. Pretty sure I read somewhere that its only 4cm longer than an Octavia? Quite tempted as I need more ground clearance in my life than a Mk3 Scout will give me.
  7. If only I didn't do 20k miles pa - not much bargains for the likes of me (or not that can I unravel from the leasing websites).
  8. Yep, I have a decision to make before January. The plan was always to roll this one over for something else, and having looked at how Mk2 4x4s hold their value I figured this would work out OK. It's not looking that way! The dealer was pretty lukewarm this week when the car was getting serviced and I enquired about changing and asking whether I was now the right side of the depreciation vs. finance owed curve. Without a harsh early winter spiking 4x4 values, or the dealer being serious about getting me into my 4th Skoda, I can see me cutting my losses and going for a Subaru Outback with the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty and defer the next change for a long time...... Niall
  9. Yet no mention of ground clearance, my reasons for considering an 'off-road' vehicle clearly don't match with the market!
  10. Option 6 - Buy a nearly new Leon X-perience with the Tech Pack, the poor things seem to depreciate even worse than Octavia's and can be add for high teens with a few 1000ml on the clock when they retail for high twenties. The less you spend, the less you have to lose!
  11. 20k miles per year, rough farm tracks; as much as I'd love an R Estate, it's not for me.........
  12. Variant - SE 4x4 150 PCP End Date - Jan 2017 GFV - £8,290 (60k miles 36 month deal) I was invited in to the Dealer a fortnight ago for the 'we can do you an early deal' chat. Upshot, they can't, car still in negative equity at the 26 month stage. Quite disappointing when 4x4s have traditionally held their value better. More annoying when I specced it harder than normal due to the lack of an Elegance 4x4 at the time of ordering (which would protect the price of the options on resale a bit as if you wanted an Elegance you couldn't get one, unless you bought mine), which was duly released a week before my car arrived......... It's all rather put me off PCP as it's likely any deposit I hoped to carry through will be gone thanks to the poor residuals, which using the Mk2 as a guide I wasn't expecting. Ideally I'd like a slightly 'tougher' Estate car, and for some reason sold on wanting ACC in the next car if I can get it. Current thoughts for change: Nearly new - Subaru Outback 2.0D with the CVT and eyesight (put off by no DAB, and it's CVT - although admittedly the best there is) Nearly new - Passat Alltrack 150 (more standard kit so no needing to get in a knot finding the spec you want second hand) 3 year old - Audi A6 Allroad 3.0 245PS+ (do I really want a three year old car to replace a three year old car? ACC unlikely, but the engine, the engine!) New - Scout (I would want to option it up a bit and insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting a different result....) Sod all of the above as it's all money down the drain, buy the car at GFV and run it into the ground (and maybe (but probably not) go mad, buy and fit scout front and rear bumpers plus side cladding and run slightly larger tyres all the time). Decisions, decisions! Probably got till the autumn to make my mind up.
  13. Not a fan of the front end. Ruins the car IMHO.
  14. My MIB1 Bolero didn't do this until I changed phone (as its the phone that drives it). Got a Lumia 930 and under the advanced Bluetooth Setting ticked the box for 'Use an alternative Bluetooth Audio connection for Speech' Now the radio is interrupted by a 'call' (it isn't really) from 'Cortana' to tell me that a text has been received and do I want to read it, etc, at which point the phone will read it out over the speakers. Also means the Sat Nav instructions from Drive+ will interrupt Radio or Media to issue instructions over the car speakers too. So although the Head Unit might not support it directly there may be settings in your phone that can achieve the same end result.
  15. Do you get a failure warning on the Maxi-dot? I did on mine within 2 weeks of ownership. Control unit swapped out under warranty and no problems since. If yours simply isn't working as you expect then that might be trickier if the system is reporting a fault, short of going for a test drive at night and establishing if it no longer functions at all or only in particular circumstances.
