  1. Hi guys. Had my car at the workshop for 30000km service (long life) went in at 29920km)). It cost me 3500 swedish kronor (about 300 pounds) My car had the thurbo shim fix and update of FW, they didn`t do anything about the chainrattling at cold start, they didn`t fix the rattling from the right hand rear door, they didn`t fix the knocking from vent =( The doors and the knocking from ventilation i can manage by my self. But the chain rattle on the other hand I can`t do by my self. Does anybody know what can happen if this doesn`t get fixed? My car had problems with hesitation when pulling away after lowering the speed. This problem is solved, it feels like they changed the pedal to throttle ratio, it`s much more insensitive now. This is a good thing cause now it`s easier for my wife to make "delicate" maneuvers when parking, driving and in fact all the time =) It doesnt feel as "punshy" anymore as others have said, but it doesnt lack power, it`s just more linear now and everything is smoother. Consupmtion is still the same mixed (44,3mpg US, 53mpg UK), country roads (49mpg US 58,8mpg UK) and with a 1000kg trailer about (23mpg US, 27,7mpg UK =) (blaming wind resistance) (consumption measured at pump = volume / distance) One last thing, haven`t used a drop of oil since new. I changed oil and filters by my self at 16000km Just wanted to give you guys a update!
  2. @StratosG Hi. Do you know when your car was manufactured? My dealer in sweden isn't that willing to give me information about what bulletins that affects my car. Mine is built late february 2011. Got it in my hands 31th March 2011. 1.2TSI 105 DSG7 Fabia Combi Any help would be appreciated! cheers Fredrik
  3. @ Locilee. Thank you for the explanation of how it works, good to know that just standing still and revving doesnt help. @Togo, Yes it does have the climatronic system, no problem when it starts blowing hot air. @stratosg, Sounds almost as the answer i got. I do understand that it's compromises as it is a quite cheap car with a really expensive engine and gearbox. @mrgf, Yep next year i will buy the cover for the grille. The reason why i''m asking about the possibility to retrofit the PTC element is that i do accept the fabia beeing a little slow on heat, but if there is something I can do that would greatly improve my comfort 6month a year I want to do it. It seems that no one knows if the PTC element fit in the petrol fabias? Have a great day my friends!
  4. Hello folks. After a cold winter with temperatures reaching below -20C I found that the heating system that the 1.2TSI DSG7 is equipped with really struggles to heat the cabin Contacted Skoda Sweden and asked them wath to do? If it was possible to retrofit the PTC element found in cars with diesel engines? Not very pleased with their answer tough! It is (according to skoda) not possible to retrofit the PTC element on a gasoline car, but they couldn't explain why it wont work, someone here knows? Their suggested solution is to shift gears manually and stick to high revs... Not fond of that, my problem is that when it is -20 the car cant defrost the windscreen properly for about 5 minutes, and I wont be standing on the parkinglot revving the car at 5 in the morning. Also Keeping it at high revs from a coldstart sounds like killing it faster, it cant be good for the engine? At most times i use the electric engine and cabin heater, but that doesnt help when my wife parks her car on my spot!! :( Also, her Roomster with a 1.4 85bhp engine gets hot air from vents after just a minute or so. Anyone that experience the same problem as me? Do someone know if its possible to retrofit the PTC. Any other solution is welcome! Best regards //
  5. It's possible too fit a new switched live fuse in the fusebox. You got at least one active minifuse socket free. Buy repair cable from skoda and wire the 12V socket to it. I think there are partnumbers and description somewhere in the forum.
  6. Update. My sweet wife is now the one driving our fabia. Of course I didn't dare to tell her about the reset experiment But when she came home from work yesterday she actually asked me what i've done to the car... It felt quicker and more responsive she told me.. The thing is that I drive very defensive and have driven most of the 14k mile we owned the car. My wife on the other hand drives a tad more spirited and have always complained about the car hesitating, doesnt shift down etc. Conclusion is that I now believe that the DSG was reseted, but i still dont know about the learning part other then the two fixed modes and which the car uses as default..
  7. 105tsi DSG7 No oil usage or any problems at all. 14200 miles.
  8. According to the manual there is only two different modes, eco and sport (when in auto". Depending on driving it alters between these two fixed settings. What is all this talk about the gearbox learning? That would require some really complex coding if it would be possible. But someone out there maybe knows how it works? Tried the reset because I could. Did'nt have any problems before and it did'nt happen anything that makes me believe that it worked...
  9. Just tried it, hard too tell if it was reset or not. Would be easier if there was an indication of the reset. It doesn't behave much different from before.
  10. Nice guide. You're not worried about the current peaks that the ballast will produce is going to fry the controller unit? Have read that some people have had problems like that. But im sure that there are several out there with no problems at all!!
  11. I believe that in croatia you'll find the fuse box under the steering wheel. Gently pull the cover off and you will find the switch right next too the diagnostics connection. This will nake the drls light up when no dipped beam are used. When you turn on dipped beam DRL will not work but you get cornering lights instead.
  12. just guessing here. But on my former car Toyota Avensis -08 there was a marker in the mainbeam housing. This showed the center of the beam and also the height that the top of your beam should have at 25feet. Maybe transferreble to skoda?
  13. Now at 12K miles without any oil usage. 105TSI DSG7. MFD still reads service at 18,641miles or 540days.
  14. When u have undone the bracket holding the H7 to the housing you have too separate the base of the H7 from the spring metalclip by gently and with some force pull it straight out. När du fått ut hållaren så är det bara att dra lampan rakt ut med milt våld, kan sitta riktigt hårt. Försök inte ta bort metallclipset.
