  1. Hi Guys Well - I've either messed right up here OR I have myself very confused. If anyone can settle this for my i will literally send them a case of beer of thier choice... My car needed a new gearbox, clutch and flywheel... - My Car - Audi A4 1.9 TDI 2002 5 Speed Engine Code AWX 130bhp - Gear box i bought came off same car, same year but engine code AVB 100bhp - Clutch i bought is for AWX Not bought flywheel yet... Will the gearbox fit my car.... Will the clutch fit the gearbox.... The clutch place i'm using are saying 'we'll get it up on the ramps and find out' but i'd like to try and clean up my mess before i take it to them! Thanks in advance...!
  2. Thanks Phil - that's good advice i suppose the worst thing that could happen is that i'd need to get the box recon'd or changed. I wonder if the clutch / fly wheel would be effected if the gearbox broke completely?
  3. Hi all Long time lurker - haven't posted in a while! I'm in a quandry and i'm hoping you can help me decide what to do. I've just bought an 2002 A4 1.9tdi as a work runner, got it very cheap (£950) as it was quite neglected and needed some simple faults fixed and some general maintenance, which has set me back only £250 to put right. The final job on the list is the clutch and DMF flywheel BUT the gear box has a crunch when cold to warm from 1st to 2nd gear only (probably the synchro). I've read that that the clutch / flywheel needing doing could exascerbate(sp?) the crunch and be making it worse... Do i...; Change the clutch, flywheel and gearbox fluid and hope the crunch calms down? Just get a used but guarenteed gear box as well and bite the bullet? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  4. Hi Azzi, I'm in the market again for a VRS and have a Golf GT TDI that I'd be looking to swap. Where abouts are you in the country? Thanks John
  5. Hi mate first time I been on in a while, have you done this yet? If not, the octi deffo doesn't need them as the ones in there only have 1500 miles on there!
  6. I'm still upset about this, keep having to look at the money to remind me why I'm doing it lol. Fun drive back?
  7. Hi all Usually in the octy vrs forum but going to look an Audi a3 1.9 TDI tomorrow so I'm popping in I've never owned a derv before so could you kind souls let me know what I should be looking out for when I it... I know there is loads of info on the net but you can't beat real advice! It's a W reg with 118k on it. Thank you John
  8. Thank you, I am based in Kent near sittingbourne.
  9. Had big plans for the vRS but i have a new job and part of it involes a 400 mile round trip twice a week, so to avoid a stupidly large fuel bill i'm joining the diesel club and looking for a Fabia vRS or Golf derv! All i can really say is that i love this car, i've owned it for 18 months and wish i didnt have to sell, but needs must. Two previous owners and i knew them both. The car while with me is run 90% on the motorway (20k miles), is always warmed up and cooled down, never thrashed. The last owner put just 2000 miles on it (can see this on MOT's) in 2010 due to having a company car also, the engine is sound, it's never given me a problem, i've replaced the alternator and an earth wire but that's all fixed now with receits etc. Carpets are all still very clean, the leather has no rips or scratches at all, very clean. I change the oil every 6k miles myself and do the coolant once a year, but i have also had it serviced proffessionally to keep the FSH stamps up to date Bodywork, couple of very small dings, nothing bigger than a 5p and has a 2 inch long scratch on the offside wing that has been touched in and polished up. I am offering it on here before i put it back to standard as i'd rather it go's to another enthusiast, and i'm going to offer it at the price that i will when standard, so essentially you're getting the aftermarket parts free.... Notable points; 108k miles, still in use. Brand new VR6 clutch and G60 solid flywheel Brand new battery Forge 007p ABD CAI Stage 1 map, dyno'd three weeks ago at 204BHP atf. Forge Carbon engine cover Parrott RKI8400 Head Unit, car is fully bluetoothed and iphone/ipod ready Lots of tread on tyres Grooved discs and Pagid pads Brand new windscreen Fully synthetic oil every 6000 miles, best i can afford, usually mobil 10 months MOT Taxed 'till February All in all, it's been reliable and a pleasure to drive, a solid car which is in great condition for its age. Battery cover is off in the engone bay pick as i replaced a fuse... Any check / insepection welcome, thanks for reading. £2500, no offers. If no interest mods will be split back to standard and i'll stick it in ebay/autotrader/pistonheads for the same price. John on 07850350727
  10. My 2 pence.... Remove the all the stickers, put some spiders back on it, that way you'll appeal to more buyers. If you get 3k I'm putting my car on the market straight away! GLWS.
  11. My post from earlier wasn't added about the drivers door lol. Does its still have all the gubbins inside electrics / window wise so I wouldnt have to change anything over?
  12. Where are you based? The drivers door, does it come with all of the gubbins inside? So I don't have to swap it all over? Condition?
  13. Shame this is on a round circuit board :( been after one of these for a while. I'd want to put it in my octy vRS vent... Damn.

  16. So got the car back on the road today after having the earth done, mechanic left the battery flat so I bumped it, started ok so I drove about ten miles and left it running for an hour. All good. Now, turned it off, tested to start again and it didn't ... Starter won't turn...!!!! Like its locked in place.... Will bump fine!! Grrrr!!!!!
