  1. I am with you on this. Retired and tight like me! Just didn’t want you to slip up etc.
  2. As I understand it there is no cancellation fee. No-one at VWFS mentioned it. I have not yet cancelled. I'm still waiting for my dealer to find out if another check is needed. I tried to sign up a few days before my car's 3rd birthday. Check done and passed but rejected as 2 or 3 days too early. Went back only 5 days later and in the meantime I'd had a Kessy error. Dealer quickly fixed and test passed for a second time and Servicing Deal signed. Might not be so easy outside original warranty. The law of s*d applied in my case and I'm not keen to repeat. If I don't need another test I will cancel and immediately restart. If I need a new test and it fails I hope I can stick to Plan A. Otherwise there is not a Plan B. A note of caution, if you will forgive me, if your contract started a few months ago. If you cancel (and you have not claimed any benefit from the plan....I think computer says no then!) you will to some extent be 'throwing away' your existing credit. You will start back at month zero with a new contract . They won't reduce your current payments. I my case I have paid 2 * £32 reducing my gain from £154 to £90. OK I have 2 more months warranty and breakdown cover. In your case say if you have made 4 payments totalling £128 the deal is less convincing apart from the warranty and breakdown cover. Hope this helps.
  3. I was just sorting my cancellation out when they cut me off at 17.30! The dealer wants me to find out if I need another "eligibility check" ....... not a problem unless it's a long time to get it booked it in which case I would be without cover.
  4. I have spoken to VWFS and they have told me that it’s up to the dealer to sort it out as they know how to do it. The dealer has still not returned my call. I’m just singing a famous Diana Ross song in my head!
  5. Excellent..................I'm still waiting for my call back. At least I have some 'case law'!
  6. The package is now discounted by 20% ii will be having a conversation tomorrow with Skoda and or my dealer!!!! Only signed up last month!!!!
  7. The CR2032 and CR2025 appear to be the same diameter but the 2032 is quite a bit thicker. I guess it got a larger capacity and therefore should last longer. Unless it's an emergency I'd stick to the correct one My car goes in for its second service on monday. I mentioned I'd just changed the battery. It was suggested I change batteries at 6 month intervals. That seems excessive but I have put a spare in the car just in case.
  8. St Edmund....I need to book mine in for the two year service.....it will be interesting if I get the same BS. I have used a Duracell not the same Panasonic though!!
  9. My Key battery failed yesterday....no warning at all. Car almost two years old. The spare key worked and luckily i had a new battery of the correct type. All sorted.

    Skoda Connect

A cheaper alternative...about £40....is to set up a MiFi in the boot permanently powered off the 12v Socket. Setting up a hotspot on a iphone that the Amundsen will quickly and reliably connect to is a bit of a faff! I suggest you use the 'Connect Lite' app. It works without having to connect your phone by cable on every trip and I find it better. I got my data plug...a VW branded one...from eBay for about £6....works perfectly.
  11. I have the data plug and it works really well I bought mine off eBay for £4.95....two days later I bought a second for my wife's Arona and it was £6.95! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-VW-Volkswagen-Data-Plug-Connectivitiy-Connect-Bluetooth-Smartphone-OBD/274299034260?epid=22034364228&hash=item3fdd7f1a94:g:rYsAAOSw6NNeY6QQ Mine is VW branded but I think all the VAG ones are the same I didn't buy the £400 package from new but I do run a mifi dongle from the power socket in the boot for use with the subscribed connect services. It's a clumsy system but it does work. It's not really worth £40 per year but I thought i'd give it a second try as a lockdown project. The MIFI in the boot connects automatically and the car power keeps the internal battery charged so it's always on and it gives a WLAN in the car The Skoda Connect features are very limited. I can send a destination to the SatNav but I have never managed to get it to record trip details (like Connect Lite) that I understand it should do.
  12. Shy and Sanqhar.....mine always reverts to normal although Eco is displayed.... WLTP!
  13. Have you managed to find a way to 'lock' it into Sport mode.....or any other mode? I tend to drive in ECO...I think it gives a slightly softer throttle response....just a preference for me.
