  1. Dealer just offered me £13,000 unseen - said that they would only go for £14,500 on a forecourt!
  2. SOLD I’m emigrating to the US in August and have a 60 plate (September) Yeti TSi 1.2 SE manual 6 speed in Corrida red I have to sell. It has under 8,000 miles on it. Extras on it are; Towbar prep; Westphalia removable towbar and single electrics (the proper kit – not a “tapped-in” job), lumbar support and full rubber mats including the boot. It also has the protective door films dealer fitted. It’s not been used for towing – the bar was for my bike rack. No bodywork dinks or kerbed wheels; a very clean car (non-smoker). Its currently on Pistonheads and Auto Trader at £15,500, however I would be prepared to sell it for less – as long as it’s more than the pittance I was offered by we buy any car... :'( Please PM me Pistonheads Photobucket
  3. I'm currently selling my Yeti on Auto Trader and Pistonheads and have been targeted by scammers. They e-mail you and offer to buy the car a full price or near and say that they will transfer the money to your PayPal account. Then someone will pick it up. Here's an example: "Hi Richard, Thanks for the response,i am so much interested in purchasing your car and am very okay with your price, but i will not be able to come and view it cos am not in town presently,i would love to know it's present condition and the reason you are selling it and i will arrange for the pick up agent to come for the pick up from your side as soon as the payment clears,so kindly get back to me with your PayPal email address. So that i can proceed with the payment as soon as possible. Thanks and hope to read from you soon." They tend to have lots of reasons why they can't transfer directly to your bank. I spoke to Auto traders and they said it's definitely a scam. Luckily I use PayPal a lot so know that accounts can be "borrowed" and the money can be taken back out if it is fraudulent. Good job I was suspicious; if it's too good to be true it probably is... :wonder:
  4. Thanks but I already looked into that - $4,000 to ship it and $$$ 000s to get it approved so I can use it on the road. Even then it's not guaranteed! Even my left-hand drive MX5 would have fallen foul of the same rules. Looked at a Tiguan but they come with a 2 litre engine and get very expensive once you spec them up to a Yeti SE. I could pretend I'm with Top Gear as there is an exception for temporary imports....
  5. We had 4 adults and a child in ours with luggage (no child seats though) and comfortably toured the UK. Its a 1.2 SE and returned around 40 mpg. Easily the best car I have ever owned (well on par with the MX5) super build quality and streets ahead of my MINI in reliability. Ignore the badge - anyways I have had more interest in the Yeti from people in carparks than any "snob badge" motor! Sadly I have to sell it as I'm moving to the USA and I will have to buy something else as they don't sell them there.
  6. Mine did the same thing after 5 months. The dealer replaced it while I waited. And gave the car a check over as well! Free of charge!
  7. I bought the 1.2 TSI specifically as I do a low mileage and short trips. I get about 4o mpg on the motorways when I go on them at a steady 70; probably around 35 mpg overall with lots of short trips. Only 3,000 on the clock so far so it's still running in! It's probably the best car out there for getting big car space with small car economy. In SE trim it is tremendous value and cheap to run; and the quality belies the price.
  8. I can get a 9 ft fly rod ready to go in it so I'm happy! Best fishing car ever! And I'm only 55 - semi-retired / lazy / self employed
  9. I'm afraid that the days of having a free first tank of fuel are long gone. Probably about 10 litres if you are lucky. I don't mind refilling only 40 litres - it stops me having a heart attack at paying £50 to fill up..
  10. Look out for my red one in Macclesfield - sometimes risk going as far as the M60
  11. My dealer - Robert Eardley & son of Stoke, re-sprayed the doors and fitted the foils under warranty (new in September 2010). I sent them some photos of the damage by e-mail and they liaised with Skoda. They also gave me a loan car for 3 days! Pays to support your local dealer! There appears to be an official claim number; TPI 2024082/2. Nice people to do business with
  12. Anyone thought of an after market sunroof? I ordered mt Yeti without as I didn't want to wait that long for it - I would like at least a tilting one to let in some light and out some heat! Also I can leave it open when parked so that it dries out inside!
  13. Looks like it might be worth breaking my Yeti for spares No, hang on, they are selling secondhand over book price.....
  14. Very unlucky - is it just the electronics? Electronic stuff either tends to die soon after it is used for the first time or after 10 years or so. But I know how you feel having just got rid of a "lemon" of a MINI. My Yeti seems to be a superb car - but I think if I had your experience I would reject that car and get another example - even though it might be "sorted" you will never trust it so there is no joy of ownership.
