  1. Was there an option to have this on a Sport line Plus that has been recently removed? I saw one with it in the dealers and it looks great. Can't find the option on-line to add it though.
  2. After 2 Octavia VRS Estates (DSG) over the last 6 years I am about to make the switch a Superb. What don't I know that I need to know in advance? Does any one know the wait times at present? I'm aiming for the 1.9 TDI with DSG saloon in Sportsline plus. Would have liked a petrol this time but the 150bhp is a bit too weak and the 272bhp to hot for me so I have been pushed in this direct ion again. Any thoughts?
  3. Its the best option I specified on mine. I use it whenever possible. Plus my daughter thinks I have jedi powers and can move the wheel with my mind. Would have paid double just for this bonus.
  4. He didnt bleed the system. It ran a program from the laptop which switch the valves inside the cooling system and then topped up the header tank. In short I don't know were or how you would do it manually.
  5. What age is the car? My 6 month old VRS TDI has just done that. Skoda Assistance came out and said it was common for the coolant level to drop significantly in the first 20K miles as a result of the way it is filled in the factory. He topped it up and ran a diagnostics and a process that ran through and opened all the valves on the coolant system and reved the engine in a specific way. Been rock solid ever since...
  6. Have a look at my post and photos at the link below. This should solve it.... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/165173-vrs-glove-box-squeaking/?p=2472890&hl=dashboard&fromsearch=1#entry2472890
  7. You will need one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Add-A-Circuit-Fuse-Tap-Piggy-Back-MINI-Blade-Fuse-Holder-ATM-APM-12v-24v-volt-/180735824927 I used it when I installed my dashcam. Doing it this way will stop you having to hack or cut wires. I would suggest using it on a not critical component. You can earth the device off a chassis bolt. Because this is a plug and play unit you can switch it between fuses to find the one you want with a switch live. Good luck.
  8. 1. The safe locking message on the MFD each time I switch it off.... Get rid of that please. 2. I would also like a blank screen on the MFD so I don't have to have one of the current readouts. 3. I would also like a digital speedo in MPH on the MFD instead of the KPH. 4. A second power socket would be nice. 5. The plastic clip on the windscreen. I'd like that waste of plastic to be gone. 6. I would like a proper power tailgate. 7. I would also like the push to start key setup from the Passat. 8. Slightly larger front doors would be good. 9. The centre mesh fabric on the front VRS seats needs to be more robust. Its wearing a bit too quickly for me. I know I can get most of this stuff if I mod it one way or another but I'd quite like it out of the factory. Also while we are at the factory, I wouldn't mind not waiting 7 months for the next one. Thats my ONE thing I would change ;-)
  9. They agreed a PX price with me 6 months out at order. There is no way I would take a vauge "well see when we get there" as its obvious what they will do. One dealer tried to do this so I walked away and another dealer got the business. Get it in writing up front and remember you are the customer state what you want and how you want it and if the dealer takes the order on that basis that is the contract.
  10. Thats some really nice mods. Can you explain the MFD speedo change again. Is it a simple tweek?
  11. Try this fix that I have done on my car. 2 minutes and its 100% fixed. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/165173-vrs-glove-box-squeaking/page__p__2472890__hl__dashboard__fromsearch__1#entry2472890
  12. Try my quick fix.... I had the same problem. This is a 2 minute job and it fixed it 100%. When it goes legal the only people that win are the lawyers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/165173-vrs-glove-box-squeaking/page__p__2472890__hl__dashboard__fromsearch__1#entry2472890 Good Luck John
  13. I have had the same problem as this. I don't think it is any thing to do with the tightness of the screw though. I think the success people have had in adjusting the screw is is more to do with the repositioning of the panel (in the short term)that gives you access to the screw. I think the noise is generated by the rubber door seal rubbing against the lip of the side panel for the dash board. I ran some tests: With the panel on there was quite a loud squeak (like people have been complaining of - rubber on plastic)I took the panel off completely and went for a drive. The noise had completely gone. I think I have also come up with a retro fit solution. It costs £1.47 and is available from Sainsbury's. Buy a pack of sick on Velcro. Throw away the rough side. Using the furry side apply this to the length of the panel. Cut to fit. Refit the panel. This will stop the rubber seal rubbing on the panel and creating the noise. Its also looks neat is really easy to do and avoids jamming things in to the gap. Pictures below.... I honestly think that dealers these days would never come up with a solution like this. They are just too in to thier checklists and in most cases don't employ technicians that are true problem solvers. Without a standard VAG list of what to check and change/adjust their stuck and then you just get fobbed off with the list of checks that they have done Hope this helps...
  14. As it turns out, I married into a Greek family. They live in Byron in Athens so I have sent an e-mail to ask the question. My farther-in-law use to be a taxi driver (one of few the good ones...) so should have a few ideas for you I hope. What part of Athens are you in????? Will post once I have had a responce.
  15. After 7 months of waiting (ordered nov 10 - TDI VRS DGS Est) I kept being advised of a delay. I contacted Skoda and was given all the standard excuses. Anyway they said I could have the £300 comp or a courtesy car while I wait. I chose the later and was told to contact the dealer to arrange this. They resisted at first but eventually gave me one. On the day they authorised it Skoda/dealer gave me a firm build date. Extra to that it arrived two weeks earlier than planned to the dealer. Its amazing how having a vested interest in your order focuses there attention. It arrived in May 11. Worth the wait but that isn't the point...
  16. I'm about to put an order in for a Octivia vRS Estate DSG with front/rear sensors and auto dim mirror and rain sensors. The questions I have are: What is the ride like. There is no way to test drive a vRS spec in my area. Is the suspension set up simalar to a L&K or Elegance. Is it overly firm? What other gems of knowledge do I need prior to putting pen to paper? All your experience would be of great assistance to me... Many thanks, John
  17. Hello everyone. Have been doing some due diligence work in the run up to buy a new car. I am fairly set on an new Octavia but I am between models and specification. Your help and input would be gratefully received. So I currently drive a 2.2 Honda Accord Tourer EX. To be honest I have had more than a few issues with it and I am sure the Honda reliability myth is just that. In terms of my new car. Definitely going to be an estate. Going the 2.0L TDI route what I am unsure about is the following. Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI 140 Elegance or vRS TDI 170 Plus I quite fancy DSG. Now I have been reading quite a few of the posts on here and I am being to get a little worried at just how fequent faults with the vRS are bing mentioned. Should I be worried???? Next what is the ride like on the vRS compared to the Elegance???? DSG: Is this a low fault count system. I have heard rave reviews about it but what is it like for people who use it every day. Lastly I have been horrified a some of the service and repair prices for my Honda. For instance, new clutch with DMF none dealer best price is £1600 and the list goes on. Can any of your please tell be what the ball park for a new clutch (DSG or other) is and cost of a timing belt for instance. Its these little gems of detail that make all the different for me. Thanks in advance for you help and hopefully looking forward to many small hours debating the pros and cons or widget A and B. Regards, John
