  1. Thanks for all the suggestions. I pulled out the 409 relay to get the part # and then reseated it. After this, this frequency of the problem dropped right down to maybe once a day from 7 or 8 times. This convinced me that the relay was the culprit. Had to wait a few days for the part (€72!) and have just fitted it. Revs seem much more stable and are sitting nicely at exactly 750 rpm when they used to bounce around a bit - not sure if related or not. Will let you know if any further problems with it. Fair play to everyone who helps out here - really helpful
  2. Thanks to everyone for their help. The consensus seems to be that the 409 could be the cause and the 109 is only on the Diesel models. I will check the back of the engine for the 109 in the morning just in case. I've seen the 409 under the driver side dash so can get at that easy and will let you know how I get on
  3. Thanks for the reply 409 is the fuel pump relay - yeah. Is there a known issue with them?
  4. Hope someone can help me please. Have been experiencing problems whereby my 02 Octavia cuts out sometimes when approaching junctions. Happens at low revs, battery light comes on and no power. Can occasionally recover by revving hard if I can get it in time but more often have to crank the ignition again. Never have problems starting it up and battery is reasonably new Some of the threads here seem to suggest the relay 109 problem but I am having trouble finding this relay. It is supposed to be behind the trim under the steering column but the only relays I see there are 447, 100, unknown, 409 and 337 Can anyone help please? Should also have stated that sometimes the revs rise and fall from 800 to 2000 when idling and may cut out then also
  5. Got it! The PCB was different on the motor I got in the breaker's yard. I swapped in the PCB from my old motor and everything worked perfectly. So, a word of advice for anyone changing the reg motor - make sure that the code on the sticker where the PCB is (rectangular black enclosure) is the same as well as the 1U...... part #
  6. Thanks for your reply but I just tried it with the engine running for the entire period. Still cut off after 10 minutes. Anyone any other ideas?
  7. Hopefully someone can help me? Have just replaced drivers side window regulator and motor. Regulator had broken cables and teeth in gearing mechanism of motor had worn away. Put everything back together and window worked fine. However after putting door panel back on it had stopped working. This happened 3 or 4 times before I realised that the motor stops working after exactly 10 minutes. Does something have to be reprogrammed? Or is the 10 minutes just co-incidence? Please help, this is driving me mad Thanks Eoin
