  1. really tempted!!!! will be in Glasgow on satyurday so if you still have them, i'll swing past and take them off your hands.
  2. lol, it sounds better than it is, you sit in a booth and press a button to start the reel, keep an eye on the tension, then press it again to stop it. very boring! set up a limited company and get your butts up to invergordon, they are always looking for guys. Also got a mate who employs lads offshore to be deck hands on boats, 6 weeks at sea and not a woman in sight! :-/ lol there are plenty of guys that fly up from England, do a 2 week shift offshore then fly home again. if your serious pm me and i will put your cv forward, sadly i don't vouch for people anymore after being let down in the past, but will happily put your cv to the right people. Just to rub it in i'm on 650 a day, lol obviously this is where the money is! but must admit, it's not for everyone, it is long shifts and your away atleast 2 weeks at a time, then your 2 weeks at home just fly by! :-( also will be missing the birth of my son in November and his first christmas, as i don't fly home till the 28th. :-( but that's the nature of the beast i suppose.
  3. if you want to relocate, i'll get you a job spooling subsea pipes, easy job, £250 a day, but your stuck on a boat or a dockside for 2-3 weeks! :-) i get sea sick so try and stick to the rigs! lol
  4. In Aberdeen we have a roaring oil industry, (not saying it to rub it in) but when my mates ask me the best way to get into it i tell them to find the companies they would like to work for and personally go around them and hand their cv and cover letter in, be super polite to the people on reception and most of the time it works, even if the company aren't looking for staff at that moment in time they should keep your CV on record incase something comes up. the other way would be to go and sign up with whatever agencies you have in the nearest town centre. I am Speaking out of experience living in Aberdeen of course, but i have found that most companies now just go to these agencies to recruit staff, as it gives the employer must more flexibility, i.e if they are a rubbish worker, they can be told to not come back at any point in the first 6 months, so they do't have to give you a probabtion period and there are plenty of other people they can take from the agency without having to re interview other candidates. once you get into the company and show them your a good worker, they will usually offer you a full time contract. After 6 months you are legally entitled to the same perks as an employee, i.e they can't just sack you without good cause, you get the same holidays and wage. there are about 10 to 15 such recruitment companies local to me, but i'm pretty sure, Raeburn recruitment, Manpower and Tulloch recruitment are also operating in England. note: These recruitment companies split their workforce into 3 groups tho, 1, the poor workers, who have let the agency down before or have little inititive, 2, the workers they can rely on, they show up everyday and never cause any trouble 3. the guys with degrees and experience coming out their ears. obviously level 2 & 3 guys get all the good and well paid jobs, level 1 would be people usually on the dole, but have to find a job so the agency is obliged to help them. I currently use a recruitment as a managment company for my own limited company, i.e they phone me, tell me what rig they want me on and for what company then i invoice the recruitment company as apposed to the company i am being contracted out too.it saves me having to find new contracts when one has ended and ensures a steady stream of work, Just now i have a 2 & 2 rotation for the next 18 months. But good luck, there is nothing worse than feeling like you are taking a step back in life when you have obviously worked hard to climb the ladder already!
  5. wanted to spray my silver one, but it was obviously in a smash, it's all straight and legal now, but wouldn't be happy about just spraying it, would want to run more BHP through it, but not without seam welding the front. just not worth the hassle. and for that price, i could just keep them both. lol The RS white is bloody bright like! quite like the idea of spraying the grill to match, but would need sunglasses to look at it! lol
  6. it was worth a try, lol 3800 is fine mate, i have a silver one just now, but the missus keeps pinching it and i have wanted a white one for ages! lol.
  7. cheers. what's your best cash price? can you send me a pic of the interior? just like looking at car porn! lol
  8. if it is still for sale in 4 weeks i will buy it. that's a promise! Pm me in a month, gotta buy a house this month so will have to wait till i get paid again.
  9. i'll take them if you can meet me somewhere? i'm driving down to Huddersfield from Aberdeen on saturday night so can come meet you on sunday if that's possible, just let me know the postcode and a time to be there.
  10. yeah for the fabia, afraid there are no foglights with it or plastic centre grill, i do have the foglight surrounds, but they have seen better days and are painted in primer, but you are welsome to have them with it?
  11. You asked 4 questions and I answered them with possible outcomes! Obviously you didn't like my answers, but to be honest maybe you shouldn't have asked them if you didn't want them answered! Everyone knows that you only comment on posts to disagree with people. These are all my opinions! That is the perk of the Internet, you can express your opinion! My view on cyclists is they should be made to sit a test to ensure they are compentant to cycle on the road, their bike should be road legal and they should have valid insurance! My opinion is based on my personal experience having been left out of pocket because a cyclist thought he could make it through a red light even tho the traffic had stopped and I had right of way. So how if it fair that I had to buy a new door and pay to get it sprayed because of his disregard for the rules of the road! Even the police said there was nothing they could do! It would have been a diffent story if I'd hit him and damaged his bike! He's have taken my plate and got me charged with dangerous driving! Why should it be one rule for motorists and another rule for cyclists? As for your earlier quote, the 2 bus services operating in the city centre and the shire in Grampian are not subject to vehicle tax and they don't have an insurance policy for damage cause on public roads! I know this because a friend was hit my a bus and the compensation was paid by the bus company, not an insurance company! Obviously they must by law have liability insurance as do pretty much all companies! I think I should just leave this thread, as all I'm doing in defending my opinion when I shouldn't have to! I have better things to do with my life than argue with narrow minded people who can't accept other people have an opinion!
  12. how old are you? they are putting the driving age upto 18! i also past my driving test 2 months after my 17th! i don't think children should be banned from riding bikes, but i don't think they should be cycling on the roads! they should get dispensation to cycle on the pavement, a child of 6 doesn't know the rules of the road so shouldn't be on it! if they cycle to school, they can have a group of them, like they do on the walks to school, there is safety in numbers! the driving test isn't subsidised! it is covered by the £90 charge for the test! and you pay to apply for a licence! do some homework before you comment! if you have nothing of value to bring to the table!
  13. fair enough, but i would say your in the minority! the people i see cycling about normally can't afford the basics like a helmet and lights! As said before i have no problem paying the ved, anything more than 1 car is a not really essential but i have 3 cars because i earn enough money to have 3 cars. and as for buying one of those ved free cars, there is no chance! i'm a fan of the PD block hence why i have the fabia and the abarth and celica are just for the sheer fun factor, in hind sight the abarth was a mistake, but it you learn from your mistakes, it'll be sold next year when i find another little pocket rocket. atleast one i wouldn't have to spend a fortune on coilies and a remap just to make it feel like it's suppose to! lol
  14. HAHAHA listen lad, i'll have whatever attitue i want! get over it! if you have a problem feel free to write it down fold it up and insert it! failing that your welcome to MAKE me change my attitue, i'll tell you where and when i get back onshore and you can do something about it! It seams you have a real problem with me so the offer is there! otherwise jog on! Cyclists don't pay road tax, so what i said still stands! motorists pay more in the "tax pot" they fine motorists millions of pounds every year that goes back into the "pot" we also pay vat on the vehicles, vat on a £500 bike is £100 vat on a £20000 car is £4000. and your trying to argue that cyclists do put as much into the kitty as motorists! grow up!
