  1. From previous experience of low profile tyres I have done well on mileage, but I was surprised at how much tread was left on all 4 tyres. Anyway we will see what the dealership says when it goes in.
  2. It will be looked at once the second tyre has arrived and is fitted. Also going into the dealership to be checked.
  3. I can see your point, I have been guilty of doing this on rare occasions. Presumably the rear track is wider otherwise they would be affected as well ?
  4. Running a September '15 Superb L&K 190 DSG 4 wheel drive estate - mileage about 17500. I had a front tyre blowout yesterday caused by a pothole and upon examination of the tyre (19" 235/40R 19 Pirelli P7) the steel reinforcement/belting on the inside of the sidewall immediately below the tread area was exposed, the rubber having worn away for almost the entire circumference. When I had the tyre replaced today the other front tyre was found to be in the same condition. The tyre fitter thought this was a camber issue and to inform Skoda. As there there was a reasonable amount of tread left on both front tyres it was an area which I would not normally check. I'm posting this as a warning for others with 19" wheels to check them and to ask whether anybody else has experienced this. There is no Skoda recall for camber related issues.
  5. Clever as I'm sure it is, if you've never towed before I'd advise spending the money on a trailer course and learn how to tow and reverse properly (I think this may be the law now anyway). I note from the configurator (and apologies if I have read it incorrectly) that the package is not available on the Kodiaq versions that have a half adequate towing capacity (SE, SE Nav) but only those that tow 2000kg! Bizarre !
  6. I would have expected a no cost delete option - I also need 2500kg to tow a horse trailer and moving from a Superb L&K (which tows 2200kg !) I will miss the spec. L/rover offer this option on the Discovery Sport, and the new Tiguan will tow 2500kg as well. Missing a slice of the market which many other mnfrs have woken up to.
  7. Volkswagen Tiguan will surprisingly tow 2500kg in SE-L spec (150hp) for a comparible (pretty much) level of equipment. Also coming onto the s/h market as pre-reg at quite chunky discounts to new. Skoda certainly seem to have shot themselves in the foot over this one.
  8. Seat Ateca in top spec also out tows the Kodiaq at 2100kg !
  9. I currently drive a Superb L&K 4x4 2.0l. I have a towing capacity of 2200kg - just enough too tow a trailer and 2 light horses. Am I correct in thinking that if I want an SE-L Kodiaq I will be limited to 2000kg towing capacity. Or like the Disco Sport is there an option to remove the extra seats and increase the capacity to 2500kg? if not, I struggle to see the point of a vehicle this size with less towing capacity than a Yeti (2100kg). If this query has been addressed elsewhere - apologies, can someone enlighten me ?
  10. My wife has a 105hp diesel Mk3 combi - about 3 months old and now covered 2100 miles. Best mpg it has returned so far is 55 mpg. This is not a patch on the previous Mk2 1.6 diesel which regularly returned 62 mpg minimum. Considering the latest incarnation is supposed to be more economical just what is going on here with VW group ? Anybody else experiencing similar mpg or is it worth having it checked out by dealer ?
  11. I have used the Saunders T94 I purchased for the Mk2 Skoda Fabia Estate belonging to my wife. Having changed to a Mk3 Estate I found It fits it perfectly and simply secures by one strap around each head restraint. Hammered aluminium finish looks fine. Saunders web site (from which you can order direct) is - www.saundersdirect.co.uk Hope this helps.
  12. Yes, the script has altered on "Skoda" and "Fabia" - now more upright as opposed to slanting. Wondered if this was available too.
  13. Well I've just re-read the thread and can't find reference to the "Skoda" new script and "Fabia" new script. Is this covered elsewhere. Genuine query not trying to be smart Kent (DK)!
  14. Is the new model script available as well for the hatch/estate boot. Seems a bit pointless replacing one without the other?
  15. I remember taking delivery of the vRS few years back. Immediately after leaving Capitol Newport the passenger door sprang into life with a good impersonation of an ack-ack gun. Took the car back "oh yes, we know all about that its caused by loose cables tapping on the door skin". If they know about the problem, why don't they pick it up and sort it when they PDI the car - or don't they road test them prior to customer collection anymore? I had another rattle which seemed to come from the pillar behind the drivers seat. They knew about this one as well, the cause was a rattle under the bonnet which transmitted through the car and made itself heard in the seat belt pillar. Fixed!
  16. Wife has a 105 diesel Scout. On a long journey average about 65-67 mpg. Shorter ones about 55 mpg. Performance great, plastic cladding great if you live in the country with cow splattered lanes and potholes.
  17. Kept ours for about 2 years but sold because were fed up with the oil issue, the lousy economy (circa 33mpg ) and the appalling ride on (granted) our country lanes. Loved the gearbox and the practicality of the huge load area. If we lived in a non-rural area with better roads the ride would probably have been acceptable but not the economy. We switched to a Fabia 105hp Scout. Good ride, high 60's fuel consumption on long runs, otherwise mid 50's on short rural hops. Nice gearbox and don't miss the performance that much. Horses for courses, shame Skoda didn't go the diesel route for the vRS.
  18. The state of the roads round here - potholes, bumps, lousy surfaces shows up the harder ride in the vRS to the extent that it really became uncomfortable. Great on m'ways and A roads though. Also fuel economy nowhere near manufacturers figures (surprise, surprise) was an issue. Reason we stuck with the Fabia was despite it's looks which aren't to everyones taste, the estate is cavernous and overall the vehicle good value.
  19. Bought a new Fabia Scout Feb this year. Diesel 105 hp in cappuccino. Previously had vRS combi with all the problems of oil consumption highlighted on this site. Had the breather fix but decided to change the vehicle before I could ascertain whether the fix worked. Live in a rural area with filthy, disintegrating roads so the cladding on the Scout is a godsend. Funnily enough don't notice the difference in performance that much, was surprised at how get up and go the Scout is. As mentioned on a previous post the mpg is working out to be low to mid sixties so far. Didn't think the Scout rode any higher than standard Fabia although Skoda have started fitting 17" wheels as standard plus 205 tyres (not the low profile vRS type) which may account for this. All in all very pleased - only wish we'd gone this route originally and ignored the vRS - great fun on a smooth road but flawed in its present state.
  20. Did a run from Herefordshire to Norfolk and back (included some rural roads) and achieved 64mpg according to the computer (105hp). Understand there are lots of discrepancies on mpg figures but compared to the dismal 33mpg from the Fabia vRS it replaced we're delighted!
  21. Wife took delivery of a new Fabia Scout 105 early Feb. We ordered MFSW and whilst by and large it looks like the vRS wheel it does not have the perforations. Whether this applies to the facelifted version do not know but worth checking.
  22. Hello everyone. New member, previously four times Alfa owner now find myself soon to be owner of Fabia Combi vRS. Tempted into ownership by all the good reviews of the car and the practicality of a very quick, unassuming estate. Car due first week in October, red, black wheels and virtually every extra going. Can't wait!
