Correct. My wife has an SE.

Ah, you must mean the Rapid and no Fabia vRS? Tony

For heavens sake Skoda give it some performance and DSG. 110 bhp would never win the Monte Carlo Rally would it? Tony

My Wife's Fabia 1.2 TSi gives fantastic m.p.g. at least mid 40's around town and 50's easily on a long trip. Tony

Mrs F has just bought a new Fabia and she has let me drive it several times. I think it is really good, the first Skoda I have driven with no rattles. It will be really quick when run in, it is very quiet and refined too. The 6 speed gearbox is fantastic as always with latest VAG cars. The technology is excellent, although Mrs F will never get the best from it, as she would never read a manual. I have synced her phone via Bluetooth with no problem and set her favourite DAB radio channels. Until I swap out my Fabia vRS estate for a Leon 1.8 SC FR DSG, the Fabia will be a favourite drive for me. The m.p.g. is incredible, it looks like it will actually achieve the manufacturers figures, with care, 50 m.p.g easy on a recent Sunday afternoon jaunt. The footwell is a little too tight for me when driving in my favourite trainers, but will be fine with my driving shoes. Stop start will probably only be effective in a traffic jam, we have never found it operating at traffic lights because, by the time you have engaged neutral, put on the handbrake and lifted the clutch, the lights have changed long ago. Found a cool trick with the 1.4 tsk DSG
tonyfvrs replied to thomasaspin's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Or reading the manual. Supercilious smile. Sorry thomasapin. -
I thought long and hard about replying, but decided on discretion. Since another post I would say that damage looks more like the tyres are rubbing on some fixed part of the car, with that amount of toe out the car would be very directionally unstable and certainly noticeable before this damage.

Has anyone built their own hybrid?

No. -
Pity they don't do a vRS DSG.

George, Answers: 1) 2 years 2) 14,000 miles 3) Original CTHE from new 4) No other mods done 5) I have no test report and I am not bothered, as dealer accepts it needs fixing. He just said it was out of spec. My dealer is accepting that it needs to be fixed. I will trade in next year as the car is on lease purchase; effectively the car belongs to Skoda. I have no quibble with the dealer or Skoda at this point. Regards Tony

Sounds to me like VAG don't have an answer to the 1.4 TSI problems and are straw clutching. Not sure I like the spray jet solution of running the pistons hotter. Rings seal the pistons and I think there may be a risk of seizures, but, what do I know. Anyway the car is under warranty and I am sure of a favourable last 12 months of ownership. Then it will be a Leon 1.8 SC FR DSG.
