  1. Hi Albourneboy. - have been considering this for some time. Any chance you could let me know after using it for, say a week ? Just to see how you feel about it after using for a little while. Thanks.
  2. Anyone have any simple tips please to prevent rear wiper rubbing very loudly on rear window ( apart from turning it off ). Had the same problem with a previous Passat, and never truly resolved it. Thanks.
  3. Sorry if this sounds daft, but can someone please advise ( when ACC is active ), if the brake lights come on when the engine slows the car down to maintain the desired gap. ?? Reason for asking is that I followed a Mondeo Vignale for 5 miles yesterday, and the brake lights were coming on in a random fashion, but appeared to be as the Mondeo edged closer to car in front. Would hate to think brake lights are activating constantly just to maintain the gap. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for that BillyJim. Sounds like a " goer " then. Was a bit wary of contacting Motability and being knocked back. Think will contact Rainmaker to confirm that no issues with hand controls. Cheers.
  5. In answer to your question to me, it looks as though the best solution is to have a " pedal box " fitted. Now I haven't done this yet, as it's a Motability vehicle, and I'm guessing the insurance cover may be compromised. However, the thought of another two years with this issue is bothering me. Sport setting does help slightly, but it's not really a solution. Hope this doesn't put you off, because the Superb is a great car, and I do honestly love mine.
  6. Another aspect to your enquiry mate. I have hand controls on my Superb 3 estate, and I was absolutely astonished at the effort required to use the accelerator. The power is not immediate ( as you might have read on other threads ), and therefore requires this additional effort because you are obviously " pulling " as opposed to " pushing ". The ACC is a great boon, but I actually took the car back to the fitter to make sure the controls were set at optimum usage. He checked everything over, and confirmed they were. Just something to consider along with all the other decisions. Best of luck to you with your search. Cheers.
  7. As a disabled driver, I would happily pay a reasonable amount for this. The non availability drives me bloody mad. Who in their right mind would design a facility to open the tailgate from inside, only to be unable to close it again with the same switch. Sadly, I'm up in Scotland, but if I was closer, I'd be knocking on your door soonest !! Cheers.
  8. Many thanks to all you posters. This is really a fantastic site to listen and learn from. Cheers guys.
  9. Just filled the tank, almost from empty, to see if any difference in performance, economy etc. Any of you folks have opinions or experiences with this fuel ? Cheers.
  10. Cheers Windscreenman - look forward to hearing what you feel about the pedal box when you get it. Can you also let us know if it's difficult to fit, cause I'm certainly not a techie in any way. Thanks
  11. Completely agree with Windscreenman. I started this thread, and wondered if it was just me. 6,000 miles on, and the zero to 20 mph is still pathetic. It's the only thing I dislike about the car, so this just makes it all the more frustrating.
  12. Appreciate your comments re cost Skidpan, but please spare a wee thought for those of us with complex mobility problems. Very often such things as electric seats etc, can make a huge difference between whether or not a particular car is suitable for our needs !!
  13. Speedman - do you have your 190 SEL yet ?. Just wondered how you feel about the throttle response. It was mentioned earlier in this thread.
  14. Absolutely love it. !! Don't rob the bank with it though, cause you might get spotted.
  15. Fair comment Blahde 2. Car is 10 weeks old, so I've definitely been lax about this. Problem is that I'm not a regular night driver, so ashamedly just ignored it. However, the lights ( as others have commented ), are pathetic compared to my Mk 11 Combi, so once festivities are over I'll be taking some action.
  16. Looks like I'll be visiting dealer as well. Never yet had the " dancing lights " on my new 190 SEL. on auto setting ( which were on last one ). The headlights are atrocious at moment. Feel lucky I'm not a constant night driver.
  17. I started a thread around a month ago concerning the sluggish takeaway from standstill on my 190 DSG. Although I haven't done it yet, it seems there is a "relatively simple" VCDS adjustment which can change throttle response from Skoda to Audi values, and those who have done this confirm that the improvement is very noticeable.
  18. Speedman - will be interesting to hear what you think when you get your car. I have the 190 DSG, and there is definitely a throttle lag ( which in my opinion is a worry. Especially noticeable if you want to join roundabout traffic and you get that " go for God's sake moment " when approaching traffic is heading towards you. ). Currently trying to contact a local VCDS guy to at least get the Audi throttle response.
  19. That's interesting Offski. After reading that, might try and get the Audi throttle setting at least. Cheers.
  20. Getting a wee bit too involved for me ( especially since it's a Motability car !! ). Think I'll stick to sport setting and sport mode if I need a bit of oomph. !!
  21. Gizmo. - forgive my ignorance, but how exactly does VCDS work. I noticed there is a Briskoda member in my home town ( Kilmarnock ) with VCDS. Should I just contact him, or does it need some more " formal " arranging. Reason I'm asking is that as was stated earlier, the acceleration is hesitant, and mine is compounded by the fact my car has hand controls owing to leg disabilities. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
  22. Well discovered Offski. - I have a Superb Estate with Ad-blue requirement, so very good to be aware of this. Cheers.
  23. Hi Robert - I'm from Hurlford, so just along the road. White Superb Estate 190 SEL DSG. 3rd Skoda. Great cars. What colour is your Octavia ? Give's a wave if you see it about. Cheers.
